【Tsuki Kurose】
My older brother entered high school and began acting more energetically. I intended to watch over what he did. Based on that, I thought I would decide how to act from now on myself.
My brother always treated me as someone special. That was because I was his younger sister, and as family, he forgave me for everything. Around the time Golden Week passed, I began to see my brother not only changing his clothes but also talking on the phone with someone.
At first, I thought it was with Yuuna-neesan. But apparently, the other person was male. The voice I overheard when I listened in was a man’s. His name was Seiya Shirogane-san.
It seemed that, without me knowing, my brother had made a male friend. Even on weekends, he went out to hang out with his male friend. From eavesdropping, I also learned that my brother apparently started some kind of club activity. If it was just about getting along with male friends, that was within what I could permit.
Still, I was curious about what kind of club it might be. But, knowing my shy brother, it was probably something cultural—maybe just playing games together with other boys… While I was thinking lightly about it, I was suddenly summoned by my mother. It was unusual for my busy mother to call for me.
I sent a message to my brother that I’d be late and left the house. Unlike usual, I dressed myself properly in formal attire that recognized a dress code, with makeup that gave me a more mature look.
“I’m sorry to keep you waiting.”
A glass-walled room with jet-black flooring. I was guided into a private room designed in black, the color my mother favored.
“Tsuki-chan. Welcome!”
The one who responded to my greeting was not my mother, but my other mother—
Yuuna-neesan’s mother, Yui Aoyanagi-san.
“Having a girls’ get-together like this is nice, isn’t it?”
Yui-san, who had grown her blue hair down to her waist, co-founded a company with my mother under the name YUI, and now, as a glamorous “beautiful witch” model, she had established her own cosmetics company and was serving as its president.
“Yuuna, come on, cheer up too.”
Yuuna-neesan, who had arrived earlier, looked somewhat vacant in the eyes. I hadn’t been in contact with her lately, but compared to the impression I had of her—cheerful, a little silly, and airheaded like Yui-san—she seemed to have changed a lot.
“Yuuna-neesan. It’s been a while. You don’t seem well. Are you okay?”
When I asked, Yuuna-neesan looked at me. But though she was looking at me, her eyes were unfocused.
“That’s right. Since around July, this girl’s behavior has been strange. She hasn’t even been going to her beloved swimming club lately. The school even contacted us, suggesting that if she planned to quit the club for health reasons, maybe she should transfer into the general studies program.”
Mother Yui spoke to me with concern. I had no idea what could have caused this.
“Yui, be quiet for a bit. I called Tsuki here today because I have something to ask her.”
My mother, Sei, cut Mother Yui off with an intimidating tone. She had always been like that—never listening to other people’s words.
“What is it, Mother?”
“You reported to me before that you thought Yoru was gross, didn’t you?”
The moment my brother’s name came up, Yuuna-neesan twitched.
“Yes. You thought so too when you saw him back in middle school, right, Mother?”
Recently, my brother had started looking cooler. But to me, he had always been perfect from the very beginning. Even if his appearance changed somewhat, that didn’t change the fact that he was cool.
“Well… I suppose so, yes.”
I couldn’t understand what Mother was trying to say.
“Hey, Tsuki-chan. Do you know this video?”
Mother Yui handed me her phone, showing a video of a boy singing and dancing in swimwear. I had seen a few idols doing something like this on television. But what about this video? While watching, I felt something off.
Black hair, a purple rash guard. The person singing and dancing in the center—was that my brother?
“This is—!”
“Ah, so Tsuki-chan didn’t know. This is the club Yoru-kun started in high school. It’s called the Men’s Cheer Team.”
He hadn’t told me anything! I knew he had started a club, but I hadn’t heard anything about him doing this!
“I see… Based from your reaction, it seems Tsuki-chan really didn’t know. Yuuna? You knew about this, didn’t you?”
Mother Yui turned not to me, but to Yuuna-neesan. I also looked at her to see how she would react. Yuuna-neesan stared fixedly at the smartphone I had been holding, then suddenly burst out laughing.
“Ahahaha!!! Yoru—my Yoru—!!! Wonderful. As I thought, Yoru is so cool~ Haa~ I love Yoru.”
Once she started talking, Yuuna-neesan began repeating my brother’s name, “Yoru, Yoru,” like a broken toy, chanting how much she loved him.
“The other day, I met Yoru. He was brimming with confidence, so manly… It was a Yoru I didn’t know.”
Mother met my brother? When could that have been? Come to think of it, there was a day when my brother left a note saying he’d be late. Was it then? But what was Mother saying? My brother had always been manly and perfect. How could she not have known?
“What are you talking about, Mother? Brother has always been perfect.Back in middle school, I protected him along with Yuuna-neesan to make sure no other girls took him away. And now you say you didn’t know? Don’t tell me you seriously called him gross out of your heart? That’s impossible!”
She was family, but if she had truly said that from the heart, then I couldn’t understand her way of thinking—I couldn’t believe it. It had always been this way. Mother only thought about herself… She never thought about my brother or me.
“Tsuki?!”
Mother looked at me with a shocked expression.
“Excuse me, Mother Yui. We haven’t even started eating yet, but I don’t want to stay here any longer, so please let me excuse myself.”
“…Tsuki-chan. I understand. Let’s talk again another time.”
Mother Yui accepted with a troubled look. I looked at Yuuna-neesan.
“I don’t know what Nii-san said to you, but clearly, you are different from me. Did you perhaps ask him to be your lover? And did he reject you?”
Yuuna-neesan’s body began to tremble violently.
“I am the one who protects Nii-san. I am the only one who has always been by his side and knows him completely. Other women mean nothing unless Nii-san himself desires them. If you cannot become the woman Nii-san chooses, then go ahead and fall into ruin.”
I said only what I needed to say, then left the room. Unless I went home and buried myself in the scent of Nii-san’s shirt, I knew this anger would not subside.

Wow this sister is getting worse and worse
Oh damn, yeah, it doesn’t look like the childhood friend is coming back. She’s already mentally broken.
