It only took a smile - Chapter 15- I am your wife
It was cold. Mai doesn’t know where she is.
However, unlike what she felt yesterday, she wasn’t as nervous today.
She was kidnapped and she still wasn’t safe. These people were dangerous, considering they killed so many men to reach her.
Why was there some relief settled in her heart?
Maybe because there was someone of the same age as her nearby? Or because he came to protect her? She couldn’t tell.
She just knows that they are stuck here in the bunker together now.
“It’s cold,” Mai muttered, curling in a corner. Even though she was covered with several layers of fur, she couldn’t stop shivering.
The other person, her rescuer, turned to look at her.
His cold eyes reflected slight annoyance.
Mai was trying not to be too demanding but a hot chocolate and some warmth couldn’t be called being too demanding, right?
He told her, “There is just a single layer left on me.”
He wasn’t lying. He was wearing just a jacket at the moment, and a fabric around his head and mouth that covered his face.
Mai trembled, her back felt drenched, and her toes were freezing
She uttered, “I might die of cold here…” She closed her eyes, no longer having the energy to keep talking.
Just then, she felt her left side being uncovered.
She frowned in her half-dazed state and looked to her left…only to find a big arm wrapping around her, pulling her closer.
Her head leaned on his chest, her body closely connected to him.
The warmth he permeated was enough to make her feel better.
In a groggy voice that held no complaint, she asked, “Do you know…who are you hugging?”
The boy responded, “A nearly dead girl?”
Mai scoffed, “I am Matsumoto Mai…you must have heard my name. I am a pretty famous artist.”
The boy didn’t respond.
She didn’t like it.
She wanted to hear more of his voice.
His voice was warm…he felt warm.
She looked into his deep eyes, noting every detail.
Then, she asked, “Would you mind…if I see your face?”
The boy asked, “Why do you want to see my face?”
“I feel like I am just on the verge of falling in love with you…”
The other person heaved a sigh, “If it takes a face for you to fall in love…then it’s probably better you just sleep.”
He didn’t look at her anymore.
It pained her.
Was it truly true?
Was she only attracted to his face?
She didn’t talk to him until she was rescued.
However, when she was being taken away, she looked over her shoulder, straight at the man who stood there, holding a rifle in his hands.
She told him, “The next time we meet, I will give you my answer.”
Naturally, he didn’t respond.
But Mai didn’t need an answer.
Because she knew, she would meet him one day.
And when that day would come, she would have an answer to his question.
….
“I love you. I want to be your girlfriend.”
In front of fifteen students, Matsumoto Mai confessed to a guy who had just walked in and assaulted someone.
Every lip parted in shock.
The anger Takashi was feeling until a moment ago turned into shock seeing the girl, whom no one could even talk to, actually went ahead and proposed to someone.
It was like they were filming this for a silly I*stagram reel!
Haruto looked down at the girl.
She does appear familiar. And when she confessed, he remembered who she was.
However, “Sorry, but I am not interested in you.” He knew nothing about her except for her name and the fact that she liked hot chocolate—he still hadn’t forgotten what had frustrated him at that time.
“What the…”
“Did he really?”
“This is a dream…someone really…”
“Hmph, must be ga-”
Haruto, naturally, ignored their comments and moved his gaze toward Takashi.
But his field of vision was completely filled with the familiar silver head again.
“Don’t look elsewhere but me. And I reject your rejection. I want to be your wife, but let’s start with dating for the time being.”
Haruto was slightly surprised…don’t girls get disheartened and sometimes rude upon being rejected?
Haruto heaved a sigh, “For now, I want to settle things with this guy. If you want my attention, then let me question him.”
Mai blinked and then looked behind.
“Oh, this one.”
Takashi shook his head, “He is-”
But she didn’t hear him and turned toward Haruto, “I will deal with him, so then will you walk back home together with me?”
Haruto’s brows elevated, “Hmm, can you make him confess his crimes? He has a very good reputation amongst others.”
“That’s not a facade, you undisciplined-”
“Hey,” Mai suddenly turned her head to look at him over her shoulder. Her eyes held no warmth, no emotions.
Takashi forgot to breathe as he heard her saying, “Interrupt us again or try to curse him, even in your mind, and you won’t be the only one facing the consequences.”
Takashi stiffened.
W-Why the heck is Mai suddenly getting involved in all this?!
