- Chapter 30- After Story: Permission-2
I walked quietly beside Kenji-san.
Even though I saw this coming from a mile away, it was still nerve-wracking.
I mean, I had been warned, and yet I still did the one thing I shouldn’t have—especially while we were still students and unmarried.
To be honest, I wouldn’t even be surprised if Kenji-san punched me. After all, I had crossed a line with his precious daughter.
Now we were at a point where the whole world would find out that, because of a lack of proper guidance, two young adults had made an obvious mistake. Ugh…
“You look quite nervous… well, I’m glad you understand how serious this is,” he said, glancing at me.
I gave a weak smile. “Anxiety was the second thing I felt when I heard the news.”
He let out a long sigh. “It’s natural. At your age, it must feel like you’re not ready to handle a family yet. Maybe you’re unsure about starting one with her.”
I shook my head gently and cleared it up. “I am nervous, yes… but it’s because I wonder if I’ll be able to take proper care of Suzune and our child.” I glanced at him and added, “But hesitation? I’ve never felt that.”
The day I hugged Suzune and accepted her feelings, I gave her my whole heart. I love her more than anyone or anything. She means everything to me. No matter what happens, I’ve never thought about leaving her.
This situation was unexpected, sure. But my parents didn’t raise me to be someone who runs from responsibility.
Kenji-san stopped in front of an open window and stood quietly, hands folded behind his back as he looked outside.
I stood beside him in silence.
After a short pause, he finally spoke.
“You know, Akito… my daughter has never been the demanding type. Before she met you, she was always a quiet child—never complained, never asked for anything.”
He kept his gaze on the scenery outside.
“Years later, when she was in Korea, she told me the reason she wanted to come back here. The bullying she went through… I don’t think she would’ve ever shared her pain with us if you hadn’t given her the courage that day.”
So, she had told them—maybe everything… even how I yelled at her back then.
A wave of guilt hit me, and I almost felt like stepping away.
Kenji-san let out a soft sigh and went on,
“After I heard what she went through… and how much you meant to her, I realized trying to separate you two would only hurt her. And if I caused that, I’d regret it forever.”
Then he glanced at me and added,
“That’s why I didn’t hesitate when she said she wanted to live with you.”
Turning toward me, he rested his hand on my shoulder, “And today too, I am trusting you with her. Don’t ever let her feel the same loneliness and pain again, okay?”
I gave him a firm nod, “I promise, sir. I will protect her smile at every cost.”

We soon returned to the main hall where everyone was waiting.
I glanced at Suzune, and the moment our eyes met, I gave her a small smile. Just that was enough to wash the tension from her face.
“So… shall we get lunch?” the lady of the house suggested, and everyone agreed.
The two women headed to the kitchen, while Dad and Kenji-san got caught up in a conversation about work and other things.
Suzune and I sat at the dining table, side by side.
Our hands were gently joined under the table, and her head rested on my shoulder.
“What did he say?” she asked softly.
“He told me to never abandon you… Or he’d break my teeth,” I said with a grin.
She took a deep breath, a smile of contentment spreading across her face. “Well, then your teeth are safe for the rest of your life.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And how can you be so sure?”
She glanced at me, eyes glinting. “Because I won’t let you go. And if you ever try to run away… I’ll use those chains you found in the storeroom.”
I let out a dry chuckle. “You’re not even joking, are you? You actually bought them for me, huh?”
Her confident smile slowly twisted into something a little more sadistic—and damn, that look was oddly hot.
Clutching my arm with both hands, she whispered, “You had the chance to run, but you stayed. You accepted this crazy version of me with open arms.”
I leaned closer, looking into her eyes, and said without hesitation, “And not even once have I regretted that decision. I love you, Suzu.”
My lips drew closer to her, only for the moment to get interrupted,
*Ahem*
We both blinked in surprise before slowly turning towards our behind
There stood our families. The ladies grinning while the men looked away.
Ah…can this be counted as being on good terms?
