Is it okay for a loner like me to have a yandere? - Chapter 17- Crush being kissed
It was lunch break. I had heard a notification about half an hour ago, but since it was history class—one of my favorite subjects—I didn’t check my phone right away.
Now that I finally took it out, I was surprised to see the message was from Suzune-san.
Yesterday, we had talked about that incident—the one that left a deep mark on both of us, though especially on her. I was genuinely relieved and happy to know that she didn’t take it the wrong way. In fact, she said my words helped her… more than I ever imagined they could.
After that conversation, I felt like something had changed between us. We’d grown closer somehow. And maybe it was just me, but the way I saw Suzune-san started to shift.
We exchanged a few texts later that night—nothing too special. Just checking in to see if I got home safely, and then saying good night.
Her recent message read,
Suzune: [Good afternoon. Did you have lunch?]
She hadn’t been to school since leaving her previous high school after her second year and moving back to Kyoto for some reason. So, I figured she must be at home.
After thinking for a moment, I snapped a quick picture of the cream bun I’d bought in the morning and sent it to her.
Me: [*image* Was about to. What about you?]
I placed the phone on my desk, not really expecting a reply right away. Her last message had come in over half an hour ago, after all.
But to my surprise, the grey icon turned green almost instantly—and just like that, she replied.
There was an image attached.
It was a selfie taken from a high angle.
Suzune-san was lying on the bed with her left eye closed while posing with a ‘V’ sign. She was hugging the same rabbit plush she gave me and the message read, ‘Just lazing around…while thinking about you.’
” ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄” That’s a very dangerous thing to say…and what’s that risky selfie? I can faintly see your neckline, y’know.
Suzune: [You can save the image if you want~I don’t mind.]
Guh! Am I nothing but a pervert in her eyes?
Regardless, I maintained my dignity and told her,
Me: [I don’t need to. Anyway, did you take your meds?]
I changed the topic.
I got to know about her health condition yesterday.
She has low blood sugar that’s why she has to regularly eat something, even a small portion, and have to take medicines regularly.
Suzune: [Yes, I did. Thank you for worrying.]
She added a sticker of a smilingly blushing bunny.
I smiled.
It was then, “Aki-kun, my mum made sweet rice cake and told me to share-ah!” Yuki yelped as suddenly some ran past her, pushing her slightly.
I hurriedly held her shoulder before she could hit the desk and get injured.
“You okay?” I asked with a frown. Wasn’t it Daiki-kun? Why does he look so scared and hurried?
I glanced at my phone and found that Suzune-san was no longer online.
I sighed. Why do I feel disappointed?
“Yes, thank you.” She said as she stood back up.
I looked at her lunch box before telling her, “I don’t feel like eating sweets but if it’s Naomi-san…give me one.”
She smilingly opened her lunchbox and I picked one.
While I ate I found she was still standing there.
I blinked in confusion, “Anything else?” I could hear her friends still in the class. Why isn’t she leaving already?
“Can…I have lunch with you today? Please?” She asked pleadingly. I was frustrated. What game was she playing? Yesterday, she was texting me, and now, this sudden proposal.
I was annoyed already. However, before I could have told her to leave me alone she was pulled away.
“Ah,” she yelped, as suddenly she was pulled by Daiki…and he kissed her.
Right before me and in front of everyone else.
“Ah~woah~”
“Damn~”
“Take a pic~”
It would be a lie to say that it didn’t hurt.
I had a crush on her until a few days ago…thought we might become a couple one day. And here, she was being kissed by someone else.
I removed my gaze from them and took the bun from my bag.
They still were kissing even though I could hear Yuki’s protest.
But that was laughable. If a girl really wanted to push a man away her efforts would have been more violent, not those light slaps.
Slowly, I walked out of the classroom, leaving my phone behind.
Another day of being reminded why I shouldn’t trust people.
Except for my family members, whoever has come close to me, always found a way to hurt me.
‘What a great life~’

Back at home, we were having dinner.
For some reason, the scene in the classroom didn’t bother me as much as it did back then.
Maybe it was because I had already realized what kind of girl she was, or was it because I was disgusted with her character?
Regardless, I was thankful that Yuki didn’t bother me anymore.
I received a few messages from Suzune-san…but I only responded in a few words.
I wasn’t feeling well and to recover my mood, I needed some alone time.
“Aki…tomorrow I am leaving for my work trip…this time the annual meeting venue is at a hot spring resort.”
Dad’s words surprised me, “A resort? Since when did your company get so much funding?” They always arranged a meeting at a small conference hall and provided hotel rooms to employees.
So this, indeed, was a surprise.
“Don’t know, but since they are offering, I was thinking of bringing your mother along.”
My brows elevated, “That’s a brilliant idea. You two haven’t gone on vacation for quite a long time as well.”
The last time they went on a trip was like five years ago. And it only lasted for a day since I was young so they returned early.
Now, I am old enough to take care of myself so surely they can leave me on my own-
“That’s why, we have asked someone to take care of you,” Mom said with a smile.
“…” Why can’t they trust their son? Am I that unreliable?
And the more shocking fact; the person they called to take care of me—
“Hello, Aki-kun~”
—was none other than my (fake) fiancée.

A/N:- Home alone with a beauty? I see this as a total win-win.
