Chapter 42: Loss of Libido, Turning to Gluttony
The man from Room 502 introduced himself as Noguchi-san.
“I also have some chocolate croissants if you’d like?”
“Wow! I love sweets!”
Noguchi-san’s room had a large table, on which sat an oven and various kitchen tools, taking up most of the available space.
“In our homeland, most men who lost their libido ended up indulging their appetite for food.”
“Their appetite for food…?”
“Yes. That’s why the men from our homeland are mostly overweight… Would you like some coffee?”
“I’d prefer some hot water, please.”
Noguchi-san poured hot water into a mug.
I blew on the water to cool it down.
Aoi leaned against the door, folding her arms and glaring at the man.
“Why don’t you eat something, Aoi? The outside is crispy, and the inside is fluffy. The butter aroma is amazing.”
“I’ll pass. I don’t want to risk finding out there’s a sleeping pill in it.”
“You’re cautious, young lady. But that’s not a bad thing.”
Noguchi-san looked at me after saying that.
“You, on the other hand, trust people a little too easily, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing either.
You two seem to be a good match.
You have something in each other that neither of you has.”
“Right!? Aoi and I get along incredibly well!”
I looked at Aoi happily.
“Don’t be stupid.”
Aoi frowned
“I saw you here three days ago.
But she must be your doppelganger… she’s definitely not you.”
“What!?!”
Aoi confronted Noguchi-san.
“Are you sure you saw someone like me?”
“There’s no mistake. She had an even fiercer look in her eyes than you.
Even though we’re the same person, our expressions and gestures differ depending on our upbringing.”
“Do you know where she went?”
“…… Apparently, she has a small-sized ‘passage bag’. I heard this from Harukawa in Room 505.”
“Do you want a passage bag? I won’t let you off easy if you try to trick me.”
“Hey, what’s a passage bag?”
I interrupted their conversation as I enjoyed my hot water and chocolate croissant.
“It’s a rare item.
Anything placed inside this bag can pass through the portal without melting, allowing you to carry it with you,”
Aoi held up a small, square plastic bag.
“Even clothes melt, leaving people naked, but this plastic bag doesn’t melt!?”
I examined the bag closely.
“It just looks like a regular plastic bag to me though.”
“It’s an item created by Gerry de Yuruyuru, the developer of the portal.
Only he could create something like this.”
“That’s amazing, Gerry! That name, though…”
“He’s an Indian genius scientist. But in every world line, Gerry is already deceased.
So, no more of these bags will be created.
It’s said that there are only a few dozen of these bags in the world.”
“Wow! Why do you want this bag so badly, Noguchi-san?”
“I want to take it back to my homeland.
To bring back some rare, high-quality coffee beans that can only be found in this world.”
“Aoi! Noguchi-san has been kind enough to give us delicious bread. I don’t see the harm in giving him one or two passage bags.”
“You idiot! Were you even listening? It’s a rare item, with only a few dozen in the entire world!”
Aoi glared at me.
“But you were going to give one to that barbaric woman in exchange for information.
And you were even going to hand me over to them!”
“That’s true, but… I can’t shake the feeling that you, Noguchi, are up to something suspicious.”
