Chapter 34: Russian Roulette
“You say you’re prepared to die.
Unfortunately, I’m not interested in playing a game of Russian roulette with a 50% chance of dying, so count me out!”
The fake Aoi-chan pulled the hood of her parka tightly over her head and ran in the opposite direction of Aoi-chan.
A tall man, easily over two meters in height, picked up Yuuka casually and followed after the fake Aoi-chan.
“Yuuka!… Wait, fake Aoi-chan!”
I tried to chase after them, but one of the men pushed me back again.
A large van was parked at the entrance of the park.
The fake Aoi-chan and the others were about to get into the vehicle.
“Damn it! Yamaguchi-senpai! Wait!”
Aoi-chan also tried to dash after the fake Aoi-chan, but she was surrounded by the remaining men.
I stood up hastily and observed the men’s movements while hiding behind Aoi-chan’s back.
There were five men.
All of them were muscular and had a menacing look in their eyes.
“Where have you taken Yuuka?! Give her back to me now, or I’ll call the police!”
One of the men smirked in response.
“You really do look alike, you and that woman.
Even if you go to the police, there’s no evidence that it was her who did this.
Your fingerprints, DNA, appearance… they’re all the same as hers,”
The blond-haired man pointed at Aoi and said this.
“Grrrr!”
Aoi-chan let out an odd cry and threw sand she had been clutching into the man’s eyes.
“Sh*t!”
Taking advantage of the man’s momentary hesitation, Aoi-chan kicked him in a sensitive area.
The other men rushed towards her simultaneously.
“Stop! Don’t touch Aoi-chan!”
I shouted and lunged at the group of men.
However, I was punched in the face and lost consciousness.
————————-
“U……nn……”
I don’t know how much time has passed.
I had been lying on the ground in the park, but now I was regaining consciousness.
“Aoi-chan?!”
I looked around frantically.
A short distance away, I spotted Aoi-chan lying on her back.
“Aoi-chan!!”
I ran towards her, calling out.
Aoi-chan was in a terrible state, bleeding from her nose and mouth as she lay unconscious.
“Aoi-chan, don’t die. Please, I don’t want to lose you,”
I shook her shoulders, feeling like crying.
“It’s all my fault for being so weak.”
“We… weakling…”
At that moment, Aoi regained consciousness and called out to me in a faint voice.
“Thank goodness! I’ll call an ambulance! Let’s go to the hospital!”
I reached for my smartphone, but Aoi-chan shook her head.
“No. If we go to the hospital, it’ll become a police matter.
If we get caught by the police, it will only waste our time.
Take me to your hideout… it’s nearby, right?”
“It’s close, but no! We have to go to the hospital!”
Aoi-chan was in rough shape.
“Shut up. Just take me to your hideout.
I’ll call my own doctor to meet us there.”
