I’m Betrayed by My Childhood Friend Who is Also My Lover, but My Other Childhood Friend Healed Me, So I Feel Like I Can Recover and Be Happy ~Is it True That Friendship Between a Man and Woman is Impossible? - Chapter 19
Three Act Play (1)
Chitose’s POV
I broke up with Akkun.
I realize those gentle eyes will no longer watch over me.
I won’t be to talk to Akkun, let alone hold his hands anymore.
Thanks to Airi-chan, I once again understood the seriousness of what I’ve done.
Airi-chan reminds me of how important Akkun is to me.
He is really cool, fun, and taught me various things.
Akkun was always there for me, but yet, I betrayed him.
I made it clear to senpai and cut all ties with him.
When I told Airi-chan that I want to be friends with Akkun again, she said that she would help, but she asked me to show my determination to regain their trust over the next week.
The next day, Airi-chan asks me if she can borrow the club room to talk to Akkun, so I agreed.
From that day on, I feel like Akkun and Airi-chan have been getting closer than ever.
Somehow, my heart feels uneasy.
After school, Airi-chan told me that Akkun agreed to meet me next week.
That will be the time to prove myself.
(Day One)
I managed to apologize properly to Akkun.
However, he didn’t forgive me, and he asked me not to call him by his first name.
That was the most shocking part.
I tried my best to hold back my tears.
Usually, Akkun would have immediately come over and comforted me, but now, he won’t comfort me anymore.
Because, I betrayed him…
It’s too late to regret what I’ve done.
Eating dinner alone at home feels really lonely.
I wish I can have dinner with Akkun.
(Day Two)
I wake up early in the morning.
Even though I’m not really good at it, I try to make a bento.
It turned out pretty bad, but at least the octopus-shaped sausages look somewhat okay.
During lunch break, I ask Airi-chan if the three of us can have lunch together, and she agrees.
I offer Akkun some of the octopus-shaped sausages that I tried so hard to make.
I actually thought that he will refuse, but to my surprise, he eats it.
Airi-chan also tries some of it and says that they’re delicious.
Hearing that makes me really happy.
After finishing my bento, despite it’s a precious opportunity to talk more to Akkun, I don’t know what to say to him.
In the end, I flee back to my own classroom.
In the hallway after school, I see Akkun walking home alone today.
I actually want to call out to him, but I remember our promise and refrain myself from calling out to him.
When I got home, I receive a message from Mom.
She asks me to have dinner together with her for the first time in a while.
So, I reply her with a simple, ‘okay’.
With that, I head to the restaurant near the station.
When I arrive there, Mom is already waiting for me.
Also, sitting at the same table is…Hiruma-senpai.
It’s not too surprising because the situation similar to the first time I met senpai, but it feels awkward eating with someone I rejected.
After finishing dinner, the two of them talks cheerfully.
“Yosuke-kun, it’s already quite late at night, so make sure to escort Chitose home.”
“Got it, Chiaki-sensei. You can count on me.”
“That’s right, Chitose will be safe with you, Yosuke-kun.”
Mom told Hiruma-senpai to take me home and return to work.
Since it’s just the two of us, the atmosphere feels even more awkward.
Recalling what Airi-chan told me, I approach the conversation cautiously.
“Senpai, what are your real intentions?”
“I don’t have any ulterior motives. I just tagged along because sensei invited me to dinner. I just saved some money on dinner expenses, lucky me.”
“I see…in that case, I’ll head home now.”
“No, no, it’s quite late at night, so I’ll see you home. If something were to happen to Karasuma-san, I’d feel bad towards sensei.”
“But…”
“It’s fine. I’ll walk a bit behind. That way, it won’t cause any misunderstandings. Besides, I’ve reflected on my actions. Even though we’re not friends, but just acquaintances, I’ve decided to support Karasuma-san.”
“It can’t be helped then, I understand.”
As someone who also has the same regrets and understands the pain of being dumped, I agreed to it.
We both walk in silence until we reach my house.
Then suddenly, senpai starts talking.
“Ah, this is just me talking to myself, but when it’s hard to face someone, isn’t it better to write a letter instead of talking to them directly? Like this.”
Senpai hands me a letter as he says so.
“Good night, Karasuma-san.”
With that, senpai heads home.
The letter I receive from senpai expresses how much he likes me and apologized for all his actions.
Because of that, I decided to write a letter to Akito as well.
