Chapter 30: Escorted
We moved to the eastern booth of the event venue and sat on a bench along the wall.
Tsu-chan and Kokoa stuck close to me, not wanting to let go. Getting used to it, I no longer felt bothered by the stares from others.
“Aren’t we going to take pictures?”
“We will, but we need to mark Okeihan so no unwanted pests come near.”
“Exactly♡. Kyosaka-chan, you’re so oblivious, we need to make sure everyone knows you’re ours♡.”
“I see, that’s why you’ve been so clingy.”
“Don’t call it clingy. You are enjoying it too, aren’t you?”
“Well, that’s because… I admit it. Tsu-chan and Kokoa are cute.”
“Hehe♡. Kyosaka-chan was sweet to me♡. Tsukasa, you heard that, right?♡”
“He’s just being polite. Everyone knows I’m the cute one.”
“Alright, stop. No fighting today. I told you, I want to see both of you smiling.”
Feeling a bit embarrassed by my own cheesy line, I noticed Tsu-chan and Kokoa blushing and turning away.
…Wait, isn’t this where they should be teasing me?
“Oh, Kyosaka! Here-here!”
Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice.
Turning towards it, I saw an acquaintance from middle school standing there.
Wait, is that a bodysuit? A girl dressed in a skintight cosplay outfit, like a pilot from a super robot anime, walked over to us.
“Nishioji-san? What are you doing here?”
“I should be asking you the same thing.”
Tsu-chan and Kokoa’s expressions darkened instantly.
Their reactions were too obvious; they needed to be more subtle.
“That’s funny. Kyosaka, do you have girlfriends? And two of them at that?”
Nishioji-san laughed heartily while curiously eyeing Tsu-chan and Kokoa.
Given the situation, I didn’t strongly deny it, but that joke wasn’t funny.
Seina Nishioji. A classmate from middle school with whom I had little interaction. If I had to describe her in one word, it would be “social butterfly.”
Her ash-gray wavy hair and large eyes framed with eyelash extensions made her look mature. Her stylish appearance and friendly personality made her popular with both boys and girls during our school days.
“Wow, your girlfriends are super cute! Their cosplay of Mikan and Riwon is hilarious. And it suits them perfectly.”
“Okeihan, who is this girl?”
“Oh, uh, this is Nishioji-san. She was a classmate in middle school.”
“That’s a lazy introduction. We interacted quite a bit, you know.”
Not really, honestly… I spent most of my middle school days alone.
“Excuse me, but you’re kind of in the way. We’re on a date with Kyosaka-chan, so could you take a hint and leave?”
“Kokoa, that’s rude. …I’m sorry, Nishioji-san.”
Despite Kokoa’s glare, Nishioji-san just smiled cheerfully.
She was as unfathomable as ever. I figured the best course of action was to wrap up the conversation quickly and leave. As I was thinking this,
“Seems like I’m in the way, so I’ll go. Oh, by the way, Kyosaka, are you in the chat group for the mini-reunion?”
“Mini-reunion…?”
“It’s for our old third-year, class three from middle school. I’m organizing it, and I was wondering if you were in the group. If not, I’ll invite you. See you!”
Having said her piece, Nishioji-san waved her hand and walked away.
“You shouldn’t have come. I feel like Okeihan is surrounded by girls today.”
“Tsu-chan, Nishioji-san isn’t like that.”
“And you were also approached by a stranger cosplayer earlier♡. Kyosaka-chan, even if you’re in a popular phase, try to read the room♡.”
“Sorry. Maybe I should just go home…”
As I dejectedly dropped my shoulders, both of them hurriedly shook their heads.
“Sorry, that’s not what I meant. I just think staying here too long isn’t a good idea.”
“How about coming to my apartment?♡ My parents aren’t home♡.”
“Isn’t that where you kidnapped Okeihan…?”
“Well, let’s not bring that up♡. The place is big and perfect for a private photo session♡. Tsukasa, you’d want Kyosaka-chan to take your pictures too, right?♡”
“Kyosaka taking pictures… That might be a good idea.”
A good idea, huh… I have a bad feeling about this.
Ignoring my concerns, Tsu-chan and Kokoa started whispering to each other.
“Um, what exactly is a private photo session?”
I tried to interrupt their conversation with a wry smile, but got no answer.
“That room has tons of cosplay outfits, so there will definitely be something you like, Kyosaka-chan♡.”
“Let’s go, Okeihan. If we don’t hurry, it’ll get dark.”
“At least tell me what we’re going to do…”
Despite my weak protest—not that I put up much of a fight—I was practically escorted out of the event venue by Tsu-chan and Kokoa.
