Vol 1 Chapter 19: Kusanagi Kamiko VS Asanai Masakijo (1) – Overwhelmed by Low Kicks? (Vol 1: The Delinquent High School Girl’s Servant Survived and Advanced to the Second Year)
“Oi, oi… What the heck is ‘NEO Rei’?”
“Um, we’re just finishing him off—could you wait a moment? It should be over quickly.”
Not only did Miyayuri, but I too wanted to learn more about this “NEO Rei,” yet with a one-on-one fight unfolding right before my eyes, there’s no way to get an explanation.
I wondered if they’d noticed our arrival.
Noticing our presence out of the corner of her eye, Kamiko smirked and said to Asanai,
“It seems things have gotten lively before we knew it… Looks like you don’t have a single ally with you, huh?”
“Tch! You punks are useless… But I’ll beat every last one of you to a bloody pulp!”
Even though Asanai was completely on his own, he was still putting on airs—a fitting display for someone who calls himself the bancho.
“I’m disappointed… Even now, you don’t grasp our true strength, do you?”
“Ha! In the end, you’re just a bunch of girls and shorties! You’re no match for me—a mixed martial arts fighter!”
Asanai extended his left hand and left foot forward, assuming a half-turn stance. He spread his feet about half a foot wider than his hips, drew in his chin, and slightly bent his knees as he lowered his stance.
That posture—holding his hand high in front of his shoulder with his elbow pointed straight downward to firmly lower his center of gravity—was the basic stance commonly seen in mixed martial arts.
“Hmm… So you’re into mixed martial arts. That’s just perfect.”
Then Kamiko adopted the exact same mixed martial arts stance as Asanai, the crucial difference being that she was in a southpaw stance with her right hand forward.
“Could it be that we’re both MMA fighters?”
“Well… Kamiko is a bit different. She deliberately takes that stance because of her MMA experience.”
Did Kei even hear that?
Rurei immediately countered,
“Then, is she a kickboxer? Though her center of gravity seems a bit too low.”
According to eyewitnesses, the three who were out delinquent hunting each specialize in boxing, kicking, and kenpō.
As I noticed the other day, Rurei uses boxing—and since the kenpō fighter is likely the younger sister of Himeno-senpai or Tamaki-senpai, one can deduce that, like her sisters, Hozumi is a practitioner of Japanese kenpō.
Then, there’s a high possibility that this girl, Kamiko, is a kickboxer, but—
“Bzzzz—! It’s something similar to kick, but just a tad different, you know? Just watch me.”
Sure enough, if you watch closely, it’s immediately obvious what technique she’s using.
“Let’s go! Die!”
Asanai closed the distance and, making full use of his hip snap, threw a straight left jab at Kamiko. She shifted her head roughly a head’s width to the left, slipping the punch with just her upper body. When a right straight followed, she moved her head to the right and dodged it by a hair’s breadth.
Her movement—keeping her head within the lateral span of her torso—was a masterful defense.
But her opponent is a mixed martial arts fighter. His arsenal is not limited to punches.
“Uryaah!”
Using a twist of his waist and a rotation on his pivot foot, Asanai delivered a low kick in a straight line, extending his foot with the instep pointed directly forward, and slammed it into Kamiko’s thigh.
“Hey! What’s happening!”
As Asanai continued delivering two, three more low kicks to Kamiko’s thigh, she was completely pinned down by his heavy low kicks, seemingly unable to mount any counterattack.
“Crap! Let’s stop this! We’re not even on our own team—after all, girls just can’t beat male martial artists, right?”
I voiced my honest impression, and Rurei promptly pointed it out to me.

Vol 1 Chapter 20: Kamiko vs. Asanai (2): MMA (Vol 1: The Delinquent High School Girl’s Servant Survived and Advanced to the Second Year)
“Hey, you—despite being one of those tough guys, you sure don’t have any insight about people, do you?”
“Huh? But if you don’t stop him like this, won’t it be dangerous?”
Sure, he seems good at dodging punches, but he doesn’t appear to be handling low kicks at all.
It seems Asanai isn’t aggressively attacking with punches; instead, he’s gradually wearing down his opponent’s legs with low kicks before delivering the finishing blow.
“I mean, just watch Kamiko’s footwork—there’s no way that’s gonna work, right?”
After Rurei pointed it out, I focused on Kamiko’s legs and noticed that just before Asanai’s low kick landed, she stepped forward slightly, shifting the kick’s contact point.
In other words, by closing the distance at the moment of impact, she nullifies the force of the kick.
“And besides, Kamiko’s into full-contact karate—if she tenses those thick thigh muscles like that, his kick won’t connect.”
By avoiding the impact and timing her muscle contraction just right, she minimizes the damage.
Anyone with full-contact karate experience—used to bouts full of low kicks—would be even more accustomed to it.
“I see—you’ve got high defensive skills. But no matter how many attacks you can take, if you don’t counterattack, you won’t defeat him, right?”
Miyayuri pointed that out to Rurei.
Sure, if you don’t attack, you can’t defeat him, but even if you do, can the attacks of Kamiko—being a girl—really stand up against a tough MMA fighter?
“Don’t worry. Knowing Kamiko, she’s just messing around as if this were sparring.”
……Not that it matters, but stop adding “-type” to everything—it just slows down the conversation.
“Ha!”
According to Rurei, does this mean the sparring session is over?
As Asanai attacked relentlessly with low kicks, Kamiko raised her right knee to block one, then immediately countered by snapping her knee into his right foot—his pivot foot—causing, for a moment, a grim expression to flash across his face.
That compact counter low kick marked the shift in initiative to Kamiko.
Retracting her kicking leg immediately, Kamiko regained her stance and closed the distance slightly. Then, instead of a jab, she delivered a strong right straight—with her shoulder thrust—that forcefully lifted Asanai’s chin. As she pulled back her right arm, she decisively closed in, bent her right arm, extended her elbow somewhat forward, and unleashed an upward right elbow strike.
In one swift motion, she executed the right straight followed by a right elbow strike; taking advantage of the lapse in Asanai’s defense against body shots caused by the elbow to the face, she then drove a left body uppercut into him.
Right low kick to right straight, right elbow strike to left body uppercut.
It was a fierce flurry of strikes, as if she were venting all the frustration from having taken so many low kicks.
“Tch!”
Asanai clearly seemed to dislike body shots more than attacks to the face, but he didn’t retreat. Instead, he swung a long hook in counter, forcing Kamiko to back off.
Undeterred, Asanai attempted to close the distance in a straight line for his counterattack.
Then, Kamiko delivered a front kick with her right foot, pressing against the upper part of Asanai’s knee, which momentarily weakened the force of his charge.
Not missing the opportunity, Kamiko used her retracted right leg as a pivot, bent her knee, and unleashed a left low kick that hooked Asanai’s left leg.
“Shu!”
Without pausing, Kamiko exhaled sharply and delivered a powerful, pushing, full-contact karate-style thrust to Asanai’s right chest, upsetting his balance. Then, using her hip rotation without overly twisting her pivot foot, she unleashed a sharp right middle kick that landed on his flank.
Right front kick to left low kick; mid-level straight punch to right middle kick.
She halted Asanai’s charge with her front kick and left low kick, and just before her middle kick could be caught, she deliberately disrupted her stance with a mid-level straight punch in karate.
Unlike kickboxing, Kamiko’s kicks rely less on retracting the pivot foot and more on a strong snap generated by her hip turn and shin, resulting in a sharp kick with minimal openings for the opponent to catch—truly an ideal kick in mixed martial arts.
Perhaps it was evident when he absorbed that body uppercut earlier—despite being a formidable MMA fighter, Asanai’s body doesn’t seem accustomed to taking strikes, or maybe it’s simply weak—so he even resorted to using a middle kick, a move rarely seen in MMA.
“You punk… don’t get cocky!”
Furious, Asanai stepped forward—just far enough for his arm to reach Kamiko’s front leg—swiftly lowered his upper body, and then took a large step forward with his right foot, launching a tackle.
Kamiko’s slender waist might have crumbled if tightly grabbed, but had she anticipated the tackle?
At that same moment, Kamiko pulled her lead foot back slightly, quickly grabbed Asanai’s head with both hands, and sharply drove a knee upward. Then, as if a faucet had been turned on, a torrent of nosebleed drenched the ground.
“Gwaaah!”
Although his momentum had been diminished by having his tackle countered with her hands, the knee strike served as a powerful counter, dealing damage that made it extremely difficult for Asanai to continue fighting.
But was it driven by his stubborn pride as the top delinquent in the region’s high school?
Or was it an act of revenge for his fallen comrades?
Asanai, though staggering like a drunk, was barely standing.
While some might find Asanai’s stubborn pride moving, the girls engaged in such deranged delinquent hunts would never let up upon seeing such a sight.
Next, Kamiko initiated her own tackle—wrapping both arms around Asanai’s sturdy thighs—then took a large step to the left, wrapped her right arm around his left waist, and re-hugged his right thigh deeply with her left arm, drawing her body tightly against his right side. Then, unbelievably, something happened.
“Oi oi, are you serious?!”
Not only did Miyayuri exclaim, but all the members of the Rei group widened their eyes in astonishment.
Using the torque from her hips and knees, Kamiko hoisted Asanai—who was nearly 180 centimeters tall—high onto her shoulders.
With a ferocious smile that could make even onlookers shudder, Kamiko, without hesitation, slammed him headfirst straight down.
Asanai, his head slammed into the dirt, convulsed all over and his eyes lost their color.
