Chapter 68: Liliana’s Quirk
“Stop it! If you interfere, even Olivia won’t be forgiven! If you have a problem, kneel down like me and apologize to Kaisar-sama!”
“L–Liliana-sama, why are you doing this?”
“Can’t you hear me, Olivia? If you don’t want me to abandon you, then kneel down and apologize to Kaisar-sama right now.”
“… I–I understand.”
Liliana ordered Olivia to kneel down and apologize to me. However, when Olivia didn’t comply, Liliana scolded and demanded she apologize to me more sincerely.
As Liliana was kneeling down, I couldn’t see her expression, but the seriousness in her voice made it clear that she meant business.
At that moment, I had a nagging thought that women are great actresses, especially Liliana, who seemed to harbour intense hatred toward me.
I was convinced that Liliana’s behaviour was not genuine as I noticed her ears twitching slightly whenever she was upset or angry, which was especially noticeable when kneeling down.
I discovered this unique trait of Liliana during our engagement when we had a great relationship. Little did I know that this information would become useful in the future.
“I, I am truly sorry, Kaisar-sama!!”
Olivia had obeyed her cruel mistress and slowly kneeled down to offer her apology, even biting her lip until it bled, as if the words were being forced out of her.
It was clear from Olivia’s demeanour that she was thinking, ‘I’m only doing this because I was ordered to. Why do I even have to kneel in the first place?’
“I apologize on behalf of Olivia, Kaisar-sama.”
But her apology seemed insincere, and I found it annoying.
“Why are you apologizing for her, Liliana? It’s meaningless if it’s not from the heart, even if you’re on your knees. Can’t you just step aside and let me pass?”
But forgiveness was not the issue at hand.
In all likelihood, Liliana and Olivia did not think they had done anything wrong. Even if they apologized, and even if it was on their knees, what was the point of such an apology? It was merely a hindrance, blocking me from moving forward.
I ignored the two still kneeling on the ground and passed by them as if they were irrelevant.
