I Was Sent to an All-Female Frontline Unit to Get Rid of Some of the Trouble, but the Most Beautiful Girls Who Are Rumored to Hate Men Love Me So Much That I Have a Hard Time at Night - Chapter 56: Change (2)
Chapter 56: Change (2)
A few hours earlier.
With my cheeks flushed and feeling a bit strange, I came to the living room with Elena to eat breakfast.
“Oh! Senior Elena! And, Te-Teraward-kun…!” Sephia exclaims.
“It’s Tera-kun…!” Norn adds.
“I tried to forget, but seeing Teraward-kun in person reminds me of his body…” Elena murmurs.
“I mean, Teraward-kun soaking in the bath was cute, right…?” Sephia says.
“I get it…” Norn agrees.
“The image of such a cute boy soaking in the bath is just unfair…” Elena adds.
Everyone notices us entering the living room and seems embarrassed while discussing something.
Looking at everyone, I almost recall bathing with them last night.
As I think this—
“Uh…! Before we talk like this, we should greet properly like always…!” Elena says.
“Y-Yeah, that’s right…!” Sephia agrees.
“Good morning, Teraward-kun!” Elena greets.
“Good morning, Tera-kun!” Norn says.
Since everyone greets me, I quickly return the greeting.
“Good morning, everyone!” I say.
Perhaps because I nearly recalled bathing with them last night, my greeting feels a bit awkward.
I still can’t believe I bathed with such beautiful people.
“Uh…!” I gasp.
As if to prove it, the image of everyone in bath towels burns in my mind, and I can still vividly recall it.
I shake my head desperately to dispel the image, knowing I can’t think about this in the morning.
Then, I sit in my usual chair.
Sephia already sits in the chair next to me.
“Good morning, Finn-san,” Sephia says.
“Good morning, Sephia-san!” I reply.
“I’ve never bathed with a man other than Finn-san, so I can’t imagine what it’s like to bathe with so many people of the opposite sex. Did you sleep well last night?” Sephia asks.
“Y-Yes! I was nervous in the bath, but when I went to sleep, I—” I start to say.
Then, I recall that when I closed my eyes in bed last night, the image of everyone in bath towels appeared, and I struggled for a while.
So, I can’t say there were no problems.
“Um… since it was my first joint training, my body was tired, so I fell asleep shortly after getting into bed,” I say.
“That’s good to hear,” Sephia says.
Sephia speaks in her usual gentle tone.
Everyone else seems a bit different, but Sephia appears unchanged—at least, that’s what I think at first.
Then, Sephia blushes and asks, “So, um… how was the morning?”
“The morning?” I ask.
“Yes. I’ve heard men can have a hard time in the morning. After seeing so many women’s bare skin, wasn’t it, um… difficult for you, Finn-san, as a man?” Sephia says.
“Difficult…?” I repeat.
Men have a hard time in the morning? I wonder what she means.
I think back to the hour since I woke up, but I don’t recall doing anything difficult just because it’s morning.
Perhaps it’s something I do without thinking it’s difficult, or something unconscious I don’t notice.
Either way, I don’t feel anything was difficult.
To avoid worrying Sephia, I decide to tell her as is.
“No! I moved a lot yesterday and slept well, so I’m full of energy this morning!” I say.
“Oh…! You’re full of energy… That’s good, then,” Sephia says.
As she speaks, Sephia looks down and starts muttering.
“This is bad. I’m acting like Norn-san… But if Finn-san might be struggling, as a woman, I want to do something for Finn-san as a man. That’s not a bad thing—” Sephia murmurs.
Sephia seemed normal earlier but now appears to be struggling with something.
As I try to call out to her—
“Good morning~” Norn’s voice comes from the spiral staircase.
Elena, sitting in front of me to the left, notices the voice.
“Oh, Norn. Breakfast isn’t ready yet, but you’re pretty early today—” Elena says.
As Elena turns toward Norn, I also face the voice.
“Uh!?” I gasp.
Norn appears in my sight, but she wears a revealing outfit instead of her military uniform, showing her alluring cleavage.
I quickly look away, and Elena stands up, shouting, “Norn! What’s with that outfit?! I told you to be careful about exposure since Finn-kun is here!”
“Hm? Oh… If I’m in my sleepwear without regular clothes, my boobs and other private parts might show, and that’s bad, right? But since Finn-kun already saw us in bath towels, I thought a revealing outfit would be fine~” Norn says.
“No way that’s fine! Go put on your uniform!” Elena says.
Norn looks annoyed but leaves the living room.
Soon, Norn returns wearing her proper military uniform.
By then, breakfast is ready, so we start eating together.
After breakfast, we discuss yesterday’s training—
“Report! Report!” a frontline unit member guarding outside enters the living room.
At first, I think it’s an enemy attack, but I doubt the Granzenia Kingdom’s military, which lost three thousand soldiers recently, has the resources.
As I reconsider, the woman who entered says, “Following yesterday, another envoy from the higher-ups is here!”
“What, again?” Elena says.
“They never learn…” Sephia mutters.
“Don’t they get we won’t follow the higher-ups’ orders?” Norn says.
“Just chase them off again, right?” Elena suggests.
“Wait,” Norn says.
Everyone voices their opinions, but Norn’s words stop them.
Norn asks the reporting woman, “Did this envoy bring money like yesterday?”
“No! They didn’t bring any!” the woman replies.
“Then, it’s a different matter from yesterday when they tried to control us with money. Plus, I couldn’t ask before, but I have questions for the envoy. Sorry for my selfishness, but can we deal with them instead of chasing them off?” Norn says.
Though everyone seemed reluctant earlier, they trust Norn and nod without hesitation.
We head to the frontline base where the envoy waits.
There, several men on horseback stand, and one looks at me, shouting, “F-Finn Teraward…!”
“What’s wrong with Finn-kun~?” Norn asks.
The man looks startled and says, “N-Nothing! More importantly, we bring orders from the higher-ups—”
“I don’t wanna hear high-and-mighty orders from someone on a horse~” Norn says.
“W-We’re envoys from the higher-ups! There’s no such thing as high-and-mighty from us!” the man retorts.
“Oh, I heard that before~ Really, guys other than Finn-kun all have useless pride. But think about it. If we can’t follow orders because you won’t get off your horses for some dumb reason, who’ll get in trouble?” Norn says.
“Ugh… T-That’s… Fine! Get off the horses!” the lead man says.
The men, including the leader, dismount one by one.
Norn nods with satisfaction and says, “Good. So, what’s the order?”
“Ahem,” the man clears his throat and says.
“The frontline unit must move to the city for a while!” he declares.
“The city…?” Elena says.
“We’re totally fine with that, even prefer it…” Sephia says.
“Why would the higher-ups give such an order…?” Norn wonders.
As everyone mutters in confusion, Norn steps forward and says, “Moving us from the frontline to the city, huh… Hey, does this order have anything to do with how you reacted to seeing Finn-kun just now?”
