Chapter 3: Whoa, Seriously…? (Kakeru’s POV)

One morning. In a classroom at school.

I muttered that when I saw a certain male student walk into the classroom. That male student was the delinquent guy, Akira Kuze. He was a delinquent who always cut class nonstop, so why the hell was he suddenly coming to school this early in the morning? Moeka Sakagami was a cute girl with slightly bright-colored, semi-long hair and big round eyes. Also, she had pretty big—no, not that, she had a glamorous figure. She was in the literature club, and her hobby was reading. Her personality was open and cheerful with no two-facedness. She was also a bit airheaded or naturally spacey at times. Basically, she was bright and kind, so she was liked by everyone in the class, boys and girls alike. By the way, Moeka and I had known each other since we were little because we lived in the same neighborhood, and we spent kindergarten through high school together. So she was my childhood friend. Since we’d always been together, I believed we were pretty close.

Standing next to Moeka was Kasumi Yukishiro. She and I had been friends since middle school. So Moeka and Kasumi were also friends since middle school. Kasumi was a beauty with straight, silky, long black hair in a “hime cut,” sharp eyes, and pale white skin. She was also tall with a slender figure. Her personality was serious and reliable. She was more like a big sister… No, a mom, really. “Ah, yeah. Right! If you’re free sometime this month, do you want to go see a movie with us? It’s been a while since the three of us went together.”

“A movie? Is there a particular one you want to see?”

“Yeah, a romance movie that started last week. It’s based on a super popular novel. Moeka and I have been talking about wanting to go see it.”

“Yeah yeah! So we thought, since it’s been a while, maybe Kakeru could come with us too. Lately we’ve all been busy with club activities or student council stuff, so we haven’t had many chances for the three of us to hang out, right? So I thought it’d be nice if we could! Moeka and Kasumi made that fun-sounding suggestion. Of course I wanted to go to a movie with them, obviously. So after that, we compared our schedules and decided on a day to go see the movie. And like that, the three of us were finally going to a movie together again.

While I pretended to be uninterested in romance movies, I was actually looking forward to it like crazy inside. Because going to the movies with girls was like a god-tier event for a teenage boy.
