Chapter 10: The Commotion on My Way Home from My Part-Time Job

I stretched lightly as I walked out of the convenience store where I had been working. Today was my first part-time job since being reincarnated into this world, so for some reason, I felt a bit more tired than usual. On top of that, I hadn’t eaten dinner yet, so I was really hungry.

“All right. Let’s head to that beef bowl shop near the station and grab a quick dinner… Huh?”

As I muttered that, I headed toward the station and noticed a commotion coming from the main road leading there. It sounded like someone up ahead was arguing.

“Huh… It’s a bit hard to see from here, but it looks like a young man and woman are arguing.”

The guy looked like a flashy college student in branded clothes. The girl wore simple jeans, a shirt, and a light jacket. I couldn’t see her face clearly, but she was probably a college student too. From what I could hear of their argument, it didn’t seem like a couple having a quarrel. Rather, it looked like she was being harassed by a sleazy guy trying to pick her up.

“…Well, I guess I should help.”

It’d feel terrible to just walk away while someone’s in trouble. Besides, right now, I looked like a total delinquent. I had a look that could easily scare people off. I figured showing up in this appearance would be enough to make that sleazy guy back off, so I decided to head into the commotion.

“Haha, you’re super cute! Are you from around here? Hey, want to hang out with me?”

The guy ran off as fast as he could. That should teach him a lesson. He would probably lay low for a while after that.

“Phew… Well, at least it didn’t get more troublesome.”

“Huh? Oh, right. You were in trouble with that sleazy guy, weren’t you? Are you okay? Wait… What!?”

I looked at the woman who had been harassed—and it was an incredibly beautiful, model-like woman. In fact… It was my classmate and one of the main heroines, Kasumi Yukishiro.

“W-what do you mean ‘it’s you’? Are you saying you didn’t want to help me had you known it was me?!”

Well, I guess it makes sense that she still dislikes me.

Yukishiro crossed her arms tightly over her chest and glared at me with disgust.

So, we started walking to the station together. Just walking silently felt dull, so I tried to start a conversation.

“By the way, what were you doing here, Yukishiro? If you’re in casual clothes, did you go home first?”

“Eh? Ah… I was at my cram school. See, I go to that big cram school over there.”

She pointed to a building with a major cram school sign. It looked like she attended that cram school.

“I see. So you were at cram school. Good work. And to be harassed by that sleazy guy on the way back, tough luck, huh? Does this happen often?”

“N-No, not really. Usually I wear my uniform, so no one bothers me.”

She fidgeted slightly, embarrassed.

“I see… So wearing a uniform makes you less likely to be harassed.”

“Yes. Even in casual clothes, it doesn’t happen often.”

“Really? I thought someone as beautiful as you would get hit on a lot on your days off.”

“Eh… W-what!? S-stop saying embarrassing things!”

She glared at me, blushing. It seemed she wasn’t used to compliments.

“It’s not embarrassing. You’re beautiful, and probably popular at school. Not that I know for sure.”

“Hmph. You wouldn’t know! I’m tall, not cute, and talk too much… So there’s no way I’d be popular!”

“Eh? You’re tall, but you’re slim and have a beautiful figure like a model.”

“W-what!? Model!? What are you saying!? Stop lying or I’ll get mad!”

“I’m being honest. And you’re not too loud. Today, you just reminded me to submit my paper. That shows you care. Thanks, Yukishiro.”

She flustered, blushing. She was ridiculously cute. We soon reached the station without incident.

“All right, you made it safely. You had a rough day. Forget that sleazy guy and go home and relax.”

“Y-yeah… Th-thanks for walking me to the station.”

“No problem. I’ll also give you the paper tomorrow. Sorry for causing trouble. I’ll be more careful from now on.”

“N-No, don’t worry about it. Will you… Will you be at school tomorrow?”

“Of course. I’m a serious student now, remember? I’ll be at school tomorrow.”

After confirming she entered the station, I headed to a nearby beef bowl shop for dinner. Even though I had become the delinquent villain, I didn’t expect to interact so much with the main heroines. But I loved this game in college, and I liked all the heroines, so interacting with them was genuinely fun.

Honestly, I’m really enjoying this game world.

To keep enjoying life here, I decided I’d continue going to school seriously from tomorrow without skipping.
