I Was Oblivious to the Subtle ‘Yandere’ Side of My Nonchalant Sex Friend Gyaru - Chapter 54-55
Chapter 54:
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“These people are really amazing.”
“Yeah.”
When the fireworks ended, the large crowd that had come to a stop all started moving at once.
The food stalls began packing up, giving the unmistakable sense that the festival was drawing to a close. Amid all that, we stood up to head home as well, but the exit was overflowing with people. So we decided to wait until things calmed down and sat back down on the bench.
“But seriously, that was one incredible festival.”
“I heard people live all year just looking forward to this one day. Well, I don’t actually know though.”
“The fireworks were beautiful.”
“…Are you still thinking about Asou-san?”
“Why would you say that?”
“You’re all fidgety.”
“That’s… Come on, you should get it.”
“I don’t.”
Kurenai turned her face away, looking sulky.
“…Will you go out with me?”
“Can I ask you one thing?”
“Yeah, what is it?”
“Did you do it because you liked me? Or did you start liking me because you did it?”
“What kind of question is that?”
“Well? Which is it?”
“…I think I was already interested in you from the start.”
“I see.”
“So… Give me your answer.”
“…Okay.”
She gently placed her hand on top of mine. Even though I’d touched her hand so many times before, my heart thudded loudly in my chest again.
“Then can I ask you something too?”
“If it’s the same question I asked, then no.”
“That’s not fair.”
“You think I’m the kind of girl who’d sleep with a guy I don’t even like?”
“…Got it. That’s more than enough.”
“Yeah. Let’s head home.”
“Yeah.”
We stood up, still holding hands. Then, following the thinning crowd, we left the festival grounds behind.
“Hey, can I stay over tonight?”
“Yeah. Please stay the night.”
“I’m good today. I want to do it again… It’s been a while.”
“…Me too.”
Kurenai’s slender fingers squeezed my rough, calloused hand in return. She was so precious to me. I just wanted to be alone with her already. The scenery hadn’t changed at all—but just for today, our steps on the way home felt a little lighter.
◇◇◇
『Congratulations, Aoyama-kun. Also, don’t worry about me, so don’t let it weigh on you.』
After Kurenai fell asleep, I happened to check my phone and found a message from Asou-san. She’d noticed what was going on between us after all. Well, that saved me the trouble of having to explain everything.
Still, that thoughtful message squeezed tightly at my heart. Asou-san must have been hurt. Even so, she still sent me a message out of concern. It really made me reflect on what kindness even was.
Doing something for someone else and having it completely backfire on you… I guess this is what that looks like.
The classmate I thought I was helping once, and the kindness I thought I was showing Asou-san… It was all born from my ego.
I realized I really needed to reflect on that. And the one who made me realize it was Asou-san, but she was also the one who made me feel like it was okay for me to act like that.
“…Man, she really sleeps like a rock.”
Kurenai slept soundly beside me.
From now on, I will become someone whose justice is for her.
With that vow in my heart, I gently closed my eyes.

Chapter 55:
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Good morning, Minato.”
It was the morning at the start of the week. As usual, Yumekawa came over to me.
“Good morning.”
“Huh, you look better than usual today.”
“I’m the same as always.”
“Hmm. By the way, did you go to the festival?”
“Yeah, more or less.”
“I see. So, judging from that, things went well with Yuzu?”
“…Did you hear something from Kurenai?”
“Nope, not really. I just kind of figured you two might go together.”
“I see. Well, yeah, we did go.”
It felt almost surreal how easily I said it, when I’d been sneaking around and constantly worrying about what I’d do if someone asked about my relationship with Kurenai. I guess deep down, I had known that kind of relationship was something to be ashamed of. Now that it was out in the open, I felt relieved.
“I see. Congratulations, Minato. So, what do you like about Yuzu?”
“Well… A lot of things, I guess.”
“What kind of answer is that? But actually, that’s kind of like you.”
Yumekawa chuckled softly and glanced over at Kurenai. I looked too, following her gaze. Kurenai, who had turned around, gave a small bow and then faced forward again.
“Fufu, look at her. Yuzu is blushing.”
“Blushing? Her?”
“Geez, how can you not notice that about your own girlfriend? You’ve got a long way to go.”
“…Yeah, I still don’t know much about her yet.”
“Then I’ll tell you her favorite things sometime—secretly.”
“That’d help a lot. I’m counting on you.”
“Yup. See you later.”
As Yumekawa returned to her seat, Kurenai glanced over at me again. This time, it felt more like she was glaring.
Why is she looking at me like that?
I was puzzled, but before I could ask her anything, class started.I didn’t get a chance to figure it out until after school.
◇◇◇
“You were way too clingy with Arisu.”
After school, I watched Kurenai leave the classroom first as usual. When I finally left the classroom, for some reason she was waiting at the front gate. As soon as she spotted me, she said that to me.
“…Are you mad?”
“I’m mad. Actually, I’ve been mad for a while. I mean, sleeping with me after going on a date with another girl? Who the hell do you think you are?”
“W-Wait, really? I’m sorry.”
“…Just kidding. I wasn’t your girlfriend at the time, so I didn’t really have the right to say anything.”
“No, you’re completely right to say that.”
“Am I being too much? Do you regret dating me now?”
“Not at all. I’m glad you’re being honest.”
“Huh. I didn’t expect you to be into clingy girls.”
I caught up with Kurenai as she started walking away, and she gently took my hand.
“But starting tomorrow, be more careful, okay?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Kurenai had started talking more than before. She felt a bit more troublesome now, but even this side of her felt kind of comforting somehow. In fact, having her get jealous over me actually made me… Happy.
While feeling the reality of our relationship, the two of us walked back—just like always—to my room.
