Chapter 19: She Was Real…
“…Yuuri-san, I love you.”
These words were quietly spoken.
“…”
There was only surprise occupying my heart. I couldn’t find any words to say.
“You didn’t realize it, did you?”
“…Sorry.”
“No, I’m not blaming you. If anyone is to be blamed, it’s me. I wanted Yuuri-san to be mine. That’s why I brought you here. I thought if you were always with me, you would become mine.”
…So that’s it.
Hikari, it seems, was the real deal.
A genuine yandere.
“I’m sorry. I like you as a friend, Hikari, but I don’t like you romantically.”
I said this to Hikari, who I presumed was standing behind me.
“…If only there had been more time.”
Hikari’s voice was mixed with regret.
And a slight accusation, clearly not needing any thought about whom it was directed.
“…Hikari. I probably will never come to like you, no matter how much time passes.”
I’m probably saying something terrible.
But I felt it had to be said.
“I think I used to have someone I liked in the past. Now, for some reason, I can’t harbor such feelings.”
“…”
The beach fell into silence, with only the sound of the waves echoing.
“It was my first love. Because you were the first to treat me as a normal girl. Every time we ate together, my feelings grew stronger…”
Hikari murmured softly.
“…I’m sor―”
“That’s why I won’t give up. Being rejected once won’t stop me. I’ll persistently cling on because I like you, Yuuri-san.”
“Okay.”
Once again, silence fell upon the beach.
“Yu-kun, let’s go back.”
It was Airi who broke the silence.
“Yeah.”
I stood up and moved closer to Airi.
I followed her in silence as she began to walk.
“Ah, Hikari.”
I turned towards Hikari.
There she was, still topless, but sitting with her knees drawn up, managing to cover herself. It was okay.
“What is it?”
“I had fun. Thank you.”
Hikari looked a bit sad but smiled.
“…You’re terrible.”
“Also, please tell Shinonome-san thank you for me.”
“Shinobu…”
Hikari’s gaze dropped.
“I don’t think Shinonome-san is someone who would intentionally hurt Hikari. Maybe you should at least hear her out?”
During these six days, I had noticed a lot about the two of them.
It was clear that they trusted each other and were more than just in a master-servant relationship.
“You’re friends, right?”
“…Shinobu is just… No, you’re right. I’ll talk to her a bit. And, all of your belongings are in my room, so feel free to take them.”
With that, Hikari ran off towards the direction Shinonome-san had gone.
She had properly put on her bikini before running.
“Yu-kun.”
“Hmm?”
I turned towards Airi.
A chill ran through me.
“When we get home, you’re in for a punishment.”
Her eyes, devoid of highlights, stared at me, and her calm words reached my ears.
But it wasn’t my fault.
