I Tried Pulling When Pushing My Childhood Friend Didn’t Work, and It Totally Broke Me Inside - Chapter 8
Day three of being locked up. I woke up again with the strange weight of the handcuffs on my wrists, and Yuna’s soft body pressed against me. After eating omelet rice for breakfast, I end up as her body pillow like always.
I really want to go outside soon.
I want to go to a fast-food place or something.
Because every single day, it’s only omelet rice.
At this point, I’m pretty sure Yuna can only cook omelet rice.
“H-hey, Yuna?”
I gather my courage and speak.
“What?”
“Um, c-could you maybe let me go outside…?”
“Why?”
The light in her eyes disappears.
It’s scary, but I force myself to keep talking.
“I’ve been eating only omelet rice every day. I kind of want to eat something different once in a while.”
“You don’t like omelet rice?”
“I-it’s not that I hate it… I just want to eat something else sometimes…?”
“I can only cook omelet rice.”
So I was right…?
“Then maybe something frozen from the store or…?”
“Daisuke, do you want to eat something other than omelet rice?”
“Well, that’s…”
“Okay, wait here.”
A few minutes later, Yuna comes back.
“Here, chicken rice.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
“Is something wrong?”
She looks honestly confused.
“Um, this is just what’s inside omelet rice.”
“No. This is chicken rice, don’t mix them up.”
Does she have some kind of special rule about this?
“Will you really not let me go outside?”
“Daisuke, you’re mistaken. Your home is here. When you go to the bathroom, you’re already going outside, right?”
So to Yuna, my home is only her room. Everything else counts as outside.
It seems she already thought she was making a big compromise.
“Daisuke, you said it before, didn’t you? If I let you go to the bathroom, you would do anything I say.”
“I-I didn’t say that…”
“If you let me use the bathroom, I’ll do anything you say. I won’t try to run again, please!”
“Huh?”
“If you let me use the bathroom, I’ll do anything you say. I won’t try to run again, please!”
The voice comes from Yuna’s phone.
Did she record it…?
“You said it, right?”
“I… I said it…”
“Then don’t say weird stuff, just eat. Here.”
She held out a spoon as usual.
Because of the handcuffs, I couldn’t feed myself.
So, I had no choice but to eat.
It was good, but… not being able to go outside afterward really sucked.
“Hey, do you want to go outside that badly?”
After we finished eating and cleaning up, Yuna asked.
“Huh? Yeah, I want to go out.”
“Okay.”
“Really!?”
Finally, Yuna understood.
Wait, hold on.
“Just to be clear, you mean outside of this house, right?”
“Of course.”
She sounded kind of exasperated.
It’s weird that she’s the one being unreasonable and not me…
“But, keep the handcuffs on.”
“Why?”
Why is she so obsessed with handcuffs?
“Can’t we just go outside normally?”
“No.”
She answered immediately.
“Yuna, think about this. A person with handcuffs walking outside alone?”
“Alone?”
“Huh?”
“Why would I let you go outside alone? I’m going too?”
“Even worse.”
When did Yuna lose all sense of normal rules…
Ah, I know.
“Yuna, let’s go on a date. We haven’t gone on a single date since we started going out, right?”
“Daisuke.”
“W-What is it?”
“We’re not going out.”
“Huh?”
We’re not going out?
What does that even mean?
“We’re married, we’re husband and wife.”
“But we never filed the marriage papers.”
“Okay, I’ll go file them.”
Yuna stands up.
“Wait a second.”
“What?”
“I’m coming too.”
“It’s fine. I can file the papers alone.”
“Let’s do it together, okay? No, I won’t run away.”
“…Fine. But we’ll go tomorrow.”
“Yes!”
Finally, I can go outside.
I’m looking forward to it.
And no handcuffs, right?
