Episode 27: Confrontation with the Former Protagonist (Part 2)
Saita remained silent for a moment, then looked up, smiling challengingly. It seemed he had completely changed his approach.
“Yeah, I know who the real culprit is. Because…”
“The culprit is me.”
As expected.
I had known this would happen, but he still acted as though he knew nothing.
“Saita… you…”
“It was all my doing. But honestly, it was so much fun. No one believes you, Kinsakouji. That just shows how little trust you have, right? Oh, but I guess your lackeys believed you. That guy Narita, one of your kind. He’s an idiot, too. Maybe he looks up to bad people, but he’s hated by everyone because of that childish mindset.”
“Narita has nothing to do with this.”
“Doesn’t matter. The point is, I really despise him. I mean, with that kind of personality, it’s obvious people are going to dislike him. But still, he admires it. That just shows how immature he is. It’s pathetic. To have such stupid ideals—it’s disgusting.”
Hearing Saita insult Narita made me incredibly angry.
Even though I had suddenly changed, Narita stayed by my side. At first, he was just interested or maybe even admired me, but now, he’s by my side for completely different reasons, and he’s silently supporting me. Not many people would do that.
I wanted to punch Saita right there, but I knew it would only hurt my position. Narita was helping me, and I wanted this plan to succeed.
“Anyway, stop talking about that. Why did you do this to me?” I asked.
“The answer’s simple. You took my girl.”
“I did? What are you talking about? I don’t remember anything like that.”
Could it be something from middle school? But Saita joined high school later, so that didn’t make sense.
Besides, Kinsakouji never took other people’s girlfriends… or at least I didn’t think I had.
But seeing my completely confused expression seemed to enrage Saita, and he snapped.
“You can’t not remember! You tricked her all the time!”
“I didn’t trick anyone. I really don’t know what you’re talking about. Who are you talking about?”
“It’s Kanako-chan. During the field trip, you made sure the two of us were alone, right?”
“…Huh? That was just a coincidence! I got lost, it wasn’t planned!”
“The problem is that you got lost! And that was on purpose, wasn’t it?”
“I didn’t purposely get lost! I wasn’t going to make my group suffer for that. You’re just imagining things.”
“That’s not true! I’d never imagine something like that. Kanako-chan and I… we really connect, you know? And you… you forced her to be with you, even though she didn’t want to talk to someone like you. But she still smiled for you… she’s an angel.”
Saita let out a dreamy sigh as he thought about Kanako.
I never expected the in-game Kanako connection to come up here. I never thought Saita would be such a crazy person. And honestly, aren’t there way too many stalkers in this world?
“Look, I don’t really get it, but you should stop with these obsessive feelings. It’s only going to lead to trouble.”
“Obsession? What are you talking about? Like I said, Kanako-chan and I are really in sync. This is real love.”
Saita really seemed to believe what he was saying.
But honestly… there’s no way Kanako feels the same way. I can’t even imagine what she would think about hearing this. She definitely doesn’t like him that way. Saita’s just unlucky, or something else entirely.
“Anyway, if you’re the one behind this, please stop. I’m trying to be sincere with others now.”
“Huh? Why should I stop?”
“If you felt uncomfortable with how close I was to Sasaki, I’ll apologize. But stop. Other people could get hurt because of this.”
“Eh? So, Kinsakouji, you’re not as impressive as I thought. You used to have the guts to bully everyone in class, but now?”
“I’m trying to be more mature. Can’t you try to do the same?”
“You’re the one who should be on the same level, tricking someone’s girl. You’re just disgusting. I was justified in doing what I did, and you’re just getting what you deserve. Honestly… someone like you doesn’t even deserve to live.”
Such harsh words hit me straight in the chest.
I never imagined it would come to this.
“So, Saita, just grow up a little. If you stop, I won’t tell anyone about this.”
“It wouldn’t matter if you did. It wouldn’t change anything.”
“So you won’t stop?”
“I might. It depends on how you act from now on. But honestly, you’ll never earn anyone’s trust, and with people like Narita around, it’s pointless.”
It seemed like there was no use arguing any further. At that moment, I decided I’d just expose the recording to the class.
That’s when Sasaki, completely furious, emerged from the shadows.
Afterword
Yeah, it’s a total mess.
I’m sorry this turned into such a dramatic situation in a romantic comedy. But don’t worry, this chaos will end soon, either next time or the time after that. After that, Kinsakouji (the real one) will have his own thrilling and sweet romantic comedy, so please look forward to it!
Thanks so much for reading!
