Chapter 28 – The Promise With Tatemiya
I left those disgusting people to the student council and the school, and I shared the victory with the members of the Yellow team. Nazuna, with Mimi and Momo, gave praise for how amazing the final relay was and how well the cheer battle went.
The boys thanked me for taking their place, and the girls were happy to receive the dessert ticket.
Why are these people so kind to me?
“Thanks to Taketo-sama, we were able to win!”
“Taketo is amazing!”
“Taketo-sama is truly amazing~”
I also think all three of you did a great job.
Nazuna and Mimi were consistently winning first place in women’s competitions.
Momo also did everything she could as a member of the health committee to deal with the boy’s poor condition.
“You guys.”
“Yes?” “Yeah?” “What is it~?”
“You three did well. I’m glad we were able to be on the same team.”
When I smiled, all three of them froze for some reason.
Maybe it’s because it’s been a while since I smiled, and I’m not good at it anymore.
Or maybe they hate me after all? Maybe I misunderstood and thought my popularity was high just because they were kind to me.
“Mitsurugi-kun. Can I have a bit of your time?”
“Kanja-sensei?”
At the end of my interaction with the yellow team, where everyone was praising each other, I was on my way back to the dormitory when I was stopped by Kanja-sensei.
Behind Kanja-sensei, I could see Toranomon Akemi, Ryuoin Yukine, Saruwatari Gorimi, and Tatemiya Yuushi.
“Nazuna. Can you go back first?”
“Understood. Please take care.”
“Thank you. Mimi, Momo, you two did a great job today.”
I said goodbye to the three of them and followed Kanja-sensei.
After experiencing the quietness following the festival, Tatemiya is depressed with tears on his face.
Tatemiya and I faced each other while the heroines watched over us.
“I-I lost. I’ll confess to all my sins.”
“Huh?”
What is this guy saying?
“A-after all, we promised the loser will listen to the winner’s command.”
“Oh, that’s what you mean. You don’t have to confess anything. I’ll give you another order.”
“What!”
“Before that, you and Toranomon-san had a bet.”
“Yes! Taketo-sama won, so please don’t ever talk to me again.”
When Toranomon Akemi clearly announced Tatemiya should fulfill his promise, Tatemiya once again crumpled his face with tears streaming down his swollen cheeks.
“P-please don’t say that. I really love you, Toranomon Akemi-san.”
“I have nothing but feelings of disgust towards you.”
A shock that seemed like a bolt from the blue hit Tatemiya.
Toranomon Akemi then came to sneak behind me to hide from Tatemiya, who was still shocked.
“N-no way…”
“Hmm, perfect. Hey, Ryuoin Yukine!”
“Yes! What is it, Takkun?”
“Make him resign from the student council today.”
“Okay, I got it.”
Yukine agreed with just a few words.
“What! Why? Why am I kicked out of the student council!?”
“That was your bet with Toranomon Akemi. And now for your bet with me. I want you to become an apprentice to Saruwatari Gorimi-senpai and join the karate club.”
“What?!!! Why do I have to join Gorimi’s karate club?!”
Ah, this guy is finished.
Saruwatari Gorimi only allows those she recognizes to call her by name.
And she won’t tolerate anyone making fun of the karate club.
“Oi! Tatemiya Yuushi!”
Saruwatari Gorimi stood behind Tatemiya.
She crossed her arms and looked down at the man in front of her.
“Whose name are you calling out? And what’s wrong with the karate club?!”
“H-huh!?”
“Listen, karate is a sacred martial art. I won’t tolerate anyone disrespecting it. I’ll teach you the nobility of karate.”
“S-stop it! Stop it, please!”
“Oi, Tatemiya.”
“W-what? Are you going to help me?”
His crying face receded, and he looked like he was pleading to me, asking for help.
“You’re not the kind of man who breaks a promise, are you?”
“Argh!”
“You said that if you lose to me, you’ll listen to whatever I have to say, right? You made a bet with Toranomon Akemi that you wouldn’t talk to her, and to keep that promise, you have to quit the student council. And you also made a bet with me. I want you to join the karate club. Is there something wrong?”
“Ugh…”
Saruwatari Gorimi let go of Tatemiya that she had grabbed by the neck and lowered him to the ground.
“Oi.”
“Yes!”
Saruwatari Gorimi crouched in front of the bowed Tatsumiya.
“You got rejected by a girl. That’s because you’re pathetic. First, I’ll straighten out that mentality of yours. Refine yourself by improving yourself. I think there’s something shining within you. Will you trust me?”
Saruwatari Gorimi extended her hand.
When Tatemiya looked up, his vision was met with a huge chest.
He didn’t look at Saruwatari Gorimi’s face.
In his gaze, only two objects were reflected.
“Yes.”
“Mmm, good decision.”
It seems that the pure-hearted Saruwatari Gorimi didn’t notice Tatemiya Yuushi’s desire-filled gaze.
Tatemiya Yuushi was then led away as Saruwatari Gorimi held his hand.
“Kanja-sensei, will everything be okay with the student council matter?”
“Yes. It’s been confirmed that he engaged in some behind-the-scenes cheating, despite it being not that big of a deal. He is deemed unsuitable for the student council.”
“I see.”
Softly, Kanja-sensei brought her mouth closer to my ear.
“I-I’ll definitely keep my promise.”
Huh?
If it weren’t for the darkened night, I would have been able to see her bright red face, as she sounded so embarrassed.
“Then please excuse me first.”
After Kanja-sensei ran off, Toranomon Akemi and Ryuoin Yukine were left behind.
“I’m going home too.”
I’ve been feeling quite tired since the sports festival.
“Thank you, Taketo-sama.”
“I didn’t do it specifically for Toranomon-san.”
“Still, I am grateful.”
Toranomon Akemi bowed her head and expressed her gratitude.
“Takkun. Are you planning on joining the student council?”
“No.”
When I immediately denied Ryuoin Yukine, her body trembled.
I then left the two of them and walked away.
