The three of them knew just how powerful Nia was. They exchanged relieved glances at each other. However, for some reason, Kaltz, who had a gaping hole in his torso, was still alive somehow. Kaltz fell to the ground when he was hit by Nia’s laserbeam, but he immediately rose up again and let out a low growl at Nia.

The word that Kaltz uttered left the three of them in shock. After all, Kaltz had been turned into a ghoul. Just how? Why could he still speak?

“That power…!! Grrrr…. GRAHHHHHh!! DE-DEMONNNN….!!”

Something was off. Kaltz had been cursing them just a moment ago, but now he started laughing maniacally instead? Feeling a wave of displeasure washing over her, Nia narrowed her eyes even further. Kaltz professed the ugly jealousy sprouting in his heart and all warmth vanished from Nia’s eyes. 

“My fate… My original fate….!! My… My future— Guhahh!?”

“…Silent.”

Her red eyes were ablaze with fury. A suffocating pressure was emanating from Nia’s body. Without any hesitation, she drove a black spear straight through Kaltz’s stomach. Nia’s love wasn’t so shallow that she could remain calm when someone insulted the person most precious to her.

“Say Kai’s name one more time and I’ll tear you to pieces.”

“Gah…!!”

“The protagonist of this world isn’t you. The protagonist of this world is Kai.”

The fate of this world. The original fate and future of this world. Kai’s role and Kaltz’s original role. The identity and purpose of the Guide. Having heard all of this, the other three didn’t voice any object to Nia’s words. Kaltz showed no sign of getting weaker, so Chloe pulled out another knife.

“You’re the one who’s getting in the way of this world, you shitty hero!!”

A fierce battle unfolded. Thanks to Alwyn’s buff, Chloe was now able to keep up with Kaltz’s speed. Her two knives clashed with the holy sword, and a torrent of magical energy erupted from the blades clashing. It was a desperate fight, with each trying to kill each other with their own respective weapons. Watching this, Brien turned to Nia.

Chloe and Kaltz clashed swords again before they both backed away. Seeing an opening, Nia summoned the black separ again and sent it flying to Kaltz’s body.

This time, she targeted his heart, but Kaltz managed to avoid it. The black spear pierced his shoulder instead. During this opening, Chloe rejoined the fray albeit she was still panting heavily.

“Whew… Whew…. We can’t! Minor wounds won’t work! The wound will get healed instantly! We need something bigger…! Something more powerful!”

“Nia, you said his heart is practically a giant cube, right?”

“Yes. When I shot the spear at his heart earlier, Kaltz was clearly focused on protecting his heart. How suspicious…”

“…Then, we now know where to attack.”

Brien said and all four of them nodded in agreement. Kaltz’s chest. If they could remove the cube from his body then they should be able to kill Kaltz.

Before Brien could finish her words, Nia interrupted her. Her red eyes were shining with determination.

“We just need to stab that holy sword into his heart.”
