Chapter 78: Give Chloe Back

A walking calamity. That expression seemed to fit these two demons perfectly. It was as if these demons had the ability to blow everything away. To erase everything from existence. 

“Darn it!! Darn it..!!”

Desperate for his life, the leader of the imperial knights, Goering, fled into the imperial palace with Chloe in tow. Chloe was still half-conscious thanks to the curse. The soldiers who had died from Nia’s massive spell only amounted to a fraction of the whole imperial army. Goering hoped he could run far enough to let his comrades come to him and they would be able to corner the enemy and beat them into submission somehow. 

Being under the Crown Prince’s mind control, the soldiers were supposed to be fearless. Furthermore, many of the knights had been strengthened even further by the Crown Prince’s black magic. However, the two demons lurking behind Goering had destroyed all of their plans.

“Uwagghhhhh!! Arghhhh!!”

“Ah….”

Goering wasn’t an exception. He was under the Crown Prince’s mental manipulation as well and yet, his body could still feel fear. His instinct could feel it. Everything was going to be crushed by those two demons’ overwhelming power. The tremendous explosion and the corpses of the soldiers being blown away by the black storm was enough to explain their raging fury. Those two had the power equivalent to a whole army. An army with demonic visage lurking behind them. When the eyes of the giant demon glowed, the soldiers who were supposed to charge at them started cutting their own bellies instead. When the tearful girl clenched her fist, a chunk of meteor made from pure magic fell from the sky, obliterating everything around them. It was hell on earth. The once beautiful imperial palace was turned into the picture of hell by those two demons. Their demonic power was spreading throughout the imperial palace.

“What are you guys doing?! Fight!!! Knights!! Buy as much time as possible for the magic squad to unleash their strongest spells! We only have two enemies!”

Even the soldiers who would normally flee in fear in the face of an overwhelmingly powerful enemy, somehow able to resist the fear and started forming a defensive line instead. After all, this was the royal palace, the heart of the empire. A large number of soldiers were stationed here. The presence of their comrades brought forth courage. Seeing the soldiers coming at him, Kai came to a halt and swung his arm down. At the same time, the giant demon behind him also mimicked his movement. Goering was taken aback. His master, Prince Adolf, had anticipated this situation. They already had plan at hand for this situation. The plan to defeat the fake demons. The Crown Prince had eliminated the fear from the soldier’s mind through mind manipulation and created elite soldiers like Kaltz and Goering himself through black magic. The black magic practically made soldiers like Goering immortal and invincible. 

The demon’s power was already divided by half, so they should be able to defeat the boy and the girl if the empire made use of their overwhelming number of soldiers. Furthermore, the empire had thoroughly analyzed the demons’ abilities from the previous battle against the church. 

Goering was confident the empire could win, after all those two were fake demons. The Crown Prince was able to turn Goering immortal and revived Kaltz, someone who had died once. The Crown Prince was strong enough to manipulate the minds of hundreds of soldiers. That kind of thing was only possible for a true demon. Goering had no doubt that the empire would be triumphant against the fake demons, but…

“…Chloe.”

“Hi-Hiii…!!”

“Give Chloe back.”

The demon before him was beyond any common sense. The moment his comrade was injured, the boy suddenly transformed from a mere human into a full-fledged monster. The girl, who was supposed to be exhausted from conjuring such a powerful spell, suddenly summoned another demon behind her. His instinct was screaming at him to escape immediately and hand the woman over to the boy. Although Goering was also under the Crown Prince’s manipulation, but his instinctual fear won over. Hence why the thought of surrendering the woman to the boy flashed across his mind. 

“Give Chloe back.”

Kai glanced at the frenzied Kaltz behind Goering. He calmly raised his hand and….

Kai caught the holy sword with his bare hand and grabbed Kaltz’s neck with another. He then forcefully pushed Kaltz to the ground. From then on, the violence started.

The sound was so loud that it was hard to believe the sound actually came from someone hitting another person. Goering couldn’t do anything but stand there in shock. The ground around those two started shaking before crumbling to dust. Despite the risk of getting his fingers sliced by the holy sword, Kai remained unfazed. It was as if the boy knew no pain nor fear as he continued to beat Kaltz. Blood flowed from his palms, yet he kept his fist clenched tight and pounded Kaltz relentlessly. His eyes were glowing red. The red was more vibrant and deeper than the soldier’s, so much so that his pupils couldn’t be seen. It was as if his sheer rage had dominated over everything.

“Ah… A-Aarghh….”

Goering was about to lose the strength on his legs. The creature in front of him was inhuman, but it wasn’t a fake demon either. That boy was a demon. A true demon. Goering was overwhelmed. Everything he had believed was crumbling away before his very eyes.

“Hi-Hiiii!!”

The boy crushed the neck of the disfigured Kaltz with his foot and slowly stood up. 

“…Chloe.”

Even though blood was flowing from his hand, the boy showed no sign of pain. He only muttered the same thing over and over again.

“Give Chloe back.”

“A-Ahh….”

“Give Chloe back… Or I will kill you.”

His red eyes glowed even brighter and Kai stepped forward. 

“I will tear you apart and kill you. I will slice you to pieces and kill you. I will kill you… I will kill you…”

“Hi-Hiiii!!”

“Give Chloe back.”

Goering was at a loss. Even if he were to hand Chloe no, the result would remain the same. He would be killed by this boy. He couldn’t form any coherent world. The true demon finally stood before him. An otherworldly evil being was standing right before his eyes. 

“Uh… Ah… Aa…”

“Da-Damn it!! Damn it all to hell!!”

Screaming, Goering was about to throw Chloe to the boy when suddenly…

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”

Just before Goering released his grip on Chloe, the voice of his master resounded loud and clear. Flinching, Goering turned around. 

“Hey… You, fake demon.”

Prince Adolf, with a single bead of cold sweat trickling down his forehead, managed to squeeze the words out of his throat. 

“Say, how about we make a deal?”
