Chapter 105: Overwhelming Strength

The Guide thought to himself. If he kept taking hits like this, even he would eventually break down. Their movements were much more coordinated than he had anticipated, making them a threat he couldn’t afford to underestimate.

“But there’s no way they can keep using magic spells of that caliber all the time. I still have the upper hands.”

Even if this boy was someone who had broken through dimension, he was still the Guide. A being born solely to correct the distortions in fate and guide the world back to its predestined future. His power defied all conventions and laws. The feeble struggles of the doomed ones were nowhere enough to defeat him.

Kai was glaring at him. The boy’s eyes were burning with intense fury. There was undeniable bloodlust in his gaze. The same murderous intent could be seen in the five girls standing beside him.

“Let’s start by taking care of the nuisance around him.”

Eliminating all variables was crucial for the Guide’s goal. Now that he had decided on his next course of action, the Guide immediately descended to the ground and set his sights on Alwyn—the priest possessing troublesome holy powers and buffs. His chances of victory would rise significantly if he could take her out of the equation.

The Guide appeared in front of Alwyn in the blink of an eye, moving so fast that even Brien’s sharp eyes couldn’t keep up with his movement. Chloe rushed to Alwyn’s side, but faced with the sudden enemy, Alwyn stood frozen in shock. In the next moment, the Guide raised his hand to strike her down, but a kick came from the side.

“Urgh!?”

The Guide staggered for a brief moment. The kick landed precisely on the back of his neck. The one who delivered the kick was none other than Kai.

“You’re annoyingly fast!”

Kai cursed under his breath while still clutching his broken ribs and yet, the Guide didn’t falter for a moment. His yellow eyes still gleaming threateningly. The monster spread his massive hand to conjure a swirling sphere of dark magic. Without any hesitation, the Guide slammed the sphere into the ground. A deafening explosion shook the ground. Dust billowing into the air, obscuring their vision.

Kai clutched the spot where his ribs had broken, cursing under his breath. Yet, the Guide didn’t falter for a moment, his yellow eyes gleaming. The monster spread its massive hand, conjuring a swirling sphere of dark magic. Without hesitation, it slammed the sphere into the ground.

A deafening explosion roared, dust billowing into the air, obscuring their vision.

“!? Chloe! The two of you—!”

“Ugh!?”

Sensing the impending danger, Kai shouted. But before he could finish his sentence, a dull thud echoed in the area, followed by a girl’s scream. It was Alwyn’s voice. The cloud of dust dissipated and they saw white holy particles floating in the air. Alwyn was blown far into the distance. Looking at the particles, the Guide spoke. 

“What an impressive priest. She sensed the danger within that split second and tried to protect herself with a shield made from holy power. She has good reflexes, but her magic is not strong enough.”

“..YOU BASTAAAAAAAAARD!!”

Brien’s eyes burned in fury as she conjured magic arrows and shot it at the Guide in fast, successive motion. Over ten magic arrows hurtled toward the Guide at astonishing speed.

“…Heh.”

But as if he had predicted it all, the Guide lightly jumped to the side, dodging five arrows and then, he twisted his neck and legs to evade the rest. It was an absolutely inhuman move. He was defying the laws of physics, causing Brien’s jaw to drop in shock. And on the battlefield, a moment of hesitation could lead to defeat.

“-!?”

Chloe reacted instantly. She could read the Guide’s next move. She swung her knife down and two blades struck the Guide’s arm, who was about to attack Brien. Or so it seemed. 

“….Ugh?! What the heck?!”

The knives, which should’ve pierced through the Guide’s hand, simply snapped with a sharp crack. The blades were worthless in front of the Guide. 

“Kyaaa?!”

Without a word, the Guide grabbed Brien’s body and hurled her far into the distance. The force in that throw was so great that Brien broke several trees in the motion before she lost consciousness. 

“All I did was concentrating my magic power in my arm. What a pitiful assassin.”

“Ugh-?!”

The Guide reached his arm to grab Chloe by the neck, but suddenly, the space around him darkened. 

“…Oh?”

Looking up, the Guide saw a large, black sphere, resembling a meteor, descending rapidly toward him. The meteor resembled the meteor he had summoned earlier. The black sphere was filled with intense force and it was really fast too. The one conjuring it was Nia. 

“I will never forgive you…!!”

With her red eyes glowing, Nia drew out every ounce of her magic power. Seizing the moment when the Guide momentarily let his guard down, Kai took Chloe into his arms. 

“Ka-Kai…!!”

Instead of responding to her, Kai just held onto Chloe tightly and quickly distanced himself from the Guide. A moment later, a massive explosion erupted. The ground was shaking, as if a big earthquake was happening.

Or so it should be.

“…Huh?”

Instead, the massive black sphere, which was descending with the force to annihilate anything in its path, came to a sudden stop in the Guide’s outstretched palm. Nia’s eyes widened in disbelief. Shortly after, cracks began to form in the enormous sphere, and a raging storm of magic energy surged with the Guide at the center.

“Ugh!? Niaaaaa!!!!”

The sphere exploded and Chloe, unable to move due to the violent tempest, could only scream in despair, while Kai rushed toward Nia. However, the swirling particles of black magic that filled the air obscured his vision. By the time he realized it, Nia was already lying at the Guide’s feet. 

“…Nia?”

Nia was lying there. Nia. Nia, Nia, Nia, Nia. She was lying there.

“…..You.”

“She’s not dead. Neither do the other girls. I didn’t kill them on purpose.”

“―?!”

Something began to leak from the depths of Kai’s heart. His eyes widened, teetering on the edge of madness. Taking another knife, Chloe moved behind the Guide. Her eyes were full of murderous intent. She moved at a speed that even Kai couldn’t follow. However, the Guide’s yellow eyes glimmered before he effortlessly blocked the knife with his palm. Once again, the blade of the knife shattered. The Guide’s hand remained unscathed. With a powerful swing of his arm, the Guide sent Chloe flying.

“……….”

“See? I didn’t kill her either.”

Everyone was incapacitated. Nia, Chloe, Brien, and Alwyn—all of them. The former members of the hero party and the rebel group had all been incapacitated. None of them could inflict a single scratch on the monster before them. 

“…Hahaha….”

In the forest, where trees were broken apart and violent wind scattered debris around, only Kai and the Guide remained. 

“This is fate, O’ the one who has broken through dimensions.”

“Accept the fate of this world.”

The Guide’s mind was devoid of any emotion. Standing before Kai, whose eyes were still filled with murderous intent, the Guide repeated the word ‘fate’.
