Chapter 27: New Enemy

Sensing the axe was imbued with a lot of magic power, I immediately began chanting. 

“Iron Plate!”

This was the same spell I had used to protect Elena-sama from the assassin. However, this time I infused more magic in my spell to summon something much stronger and thicker than before.

CLANG!!

The huge axe got stuck into the thick metal plate, creating a loud noise. Fortunately, Rhea-sama was unharmed. 

However, it seemed the enemy wasn’t planning on giving up yet. Amidst the smoke and dust, a man with brown hair aimed a knife at the First Princess’s neck. I quickly summoned a submachine gun and used the gun like a sword to intercept his attack. 

“-!!”

I never saw this man before. His face looked rugged and he was wearing dirty clothes that looked like something a commoner would wear. 

However, his eyes were painted with deep madness. 

I glanced around, trying to find my little sister. I had left her side in order to protect the First Princess.

Seeing an opportunity, the crazy man jumped in to attack me but my little sister quickly blocked his attack. Before I knew it, my little sister was already ready to assist me. 

I really could count on her. She was really dependable. 

“Oi,oi,oi,oi….”

The crazy man called out to me.

“Who are you?”

I asked him coldly.

“That should be my question. Who are YOU? You’re not a noble, right?”

“I believe I asked you first.”

“Heh. I guess you’re not an ordinary person, huh? Thanks to you, my plans got messed up. Well~ Since we’re already here, shall I introduce myself first?~”

The crazy man stepped away from me and went over to the stage quickly.

“Everyone! Good evening~ My name is Alan. I’m one of the leader in Genesis~”

The man named Alan spoke merrily.

“*cough*! *cough! Genesis…”

“Could it be… The organization that killed the eldest son of Duke Lennox a few years ago?”

Since the venue was still filled with smoke, the nobles and servants were still coughing. Everyone looked anxious and confused. I could hear the sound of someone trying to break the door open but the door was already locked. It seemed they wouldn’t be able to break it open anytime soon. 

“That’s right~ We are Genesis, an organization that won’t hesitate to kill anyone who gets in our way, no matter who they are~”

Alan said in a sing-song voice. 

“Today, I’m here to tell all of you the true identity and goal of Genesis, the organization I work for as its leader.”

The insane man spoke mockingly at us. He swung his big axe once and the smoke dispersed. Everyone in the party immediately focused their attention on Alan.

“Ahahaha!~ Anyway, Genesis is an organization aimed at slaughtering the royals and nobles of Halkeginia. We aim to create a nation centered on magic user commoners for commoners and slaves alike~”

“”Wha-What?!””

The crowd immediately went into a panic. Seemingly amused by the reactions of the noble and the royals, the crazy man laughed heartily before continuing on. 

“Ahahaha!~ Everyone’s reaction is so amusing to see~ But… From the looks of it, it seems you guys still don’t get it, huh?”

Alan took a deep breath before his expression changed in an instant. He glared at everyone in disdain.

“Do you guys even know how many slaves and commoners have suffered from excruciating fate at the hands of despicable nobles and royals like you? Do you even know how much anger has accumulated from the said slaves and commoners? Well, I do. I’m very well aware of it. After all, I’m just a commoner too~ But you know, even though I’m a commoner, I’m stronger than any of the nobles here~ How about if I show you guys a glimpse of my power?~”

The insane man said before he infused his axe with magic power and hurled it at a male noble in front of him. 

Seeing the attack, the male noble braced himself. 

“Yo-You’re just a commoner! I’m a Level 4! An attack of that caliber won’t work against me!”

But then, the male noble’s body was immediately split into two. Blood gushed forth from the split part, along with the sickening sound of two meat chunks falling onto the floor. 

“”KYAAAAA!!”

The female nobles screamed at the top of their lungs upon witnessing the grotesque carnage.

Alan raised his hand and the axe immediately flew back into his hand. He grabbed the axe and laughed maniacally again. 

“Ohohohoho!~ A Level 4 noble has been killed~ Those nobles… They talk big… Mocking me… Flaunting their status as upper-class noble but look at them now! One of them has been killed by meeeeee!!! What a shame~ How unfortunateeeeee~ To be killed by the commoner you disregarded and looked down upon~ How unfortunateeee~”

Then, Alan suddenly turned angry. 

“IF ONLY YOU HAD GRANTED ME TITLE OF A COUNT OR HIGHER! Even though I’m able to use such powerful magic… If only you had let me have a taste of those privileges… This kind of tragedy wouldn’t have happened!~ Ohohoho!~ You see, I’m not the bad guy here~ The bad guys are you guys! The royal family and the damn nobles who rule this kingdom! You guys are at fault for discriminating against commoners who can use magic~”

Alan’s eyes and mouth curled up into a smirk simultaneously. 

“Oops~ It’s about time for me to say goodbye~ Let’s meet again! Maybe our next meeting place will be the guillotine? Ahahaha!~”

After he said that, Alan dropped something round onto the stage and swiftly escaped through the broken window. 

While everyone was still in shock from the sudden turn of events, the door finally broke open. The imperial guards immediately came rushing in but Alan was already gone.

“What happened?!”

“Find the culprit!”

The imperial guards quickly got up onto the stage and began searching. While everyone was watching the imperial guards, another male noble standing beside the sliced off noble spoke up.

“Everyone…. Run.”

“Huh?”

“That guy dropped a magic crystal with strong explosive power!! RUN!!!”

“”-!!””

Everyone’s eyes widened in shock and at the same time, a burst of light emerged from under the stage. 

“Darn it! We won’t make it in time!”

“Onii-sama!”

“Rina!! Stick close to me!”

“Yes!”

I couldn’t possibly save everyone here. I could feel it. A huge explosion was about to happen. It had enough power to reduce everything in the party to ashes. 

My little sister was sticking close to my right arm and on my left arm, there were Rhea-sama and Slene-sama. 

The explosion occurred and in just a few seconds, a cloud of dust filled our sight. Another few seconds passed and finally the venue of the party began to become visible. The party venue was in ruins. 

In those split seconds, I had summoned a sturdy iron plate in front of Keltz-sama. In other words, everyone standing before Keltz-sama was likely to be dead. 

But…

Fortunately, the people that had been standing near the magic crystal were only covered in wounds. They were unconscious but it seemed they were still alive. I quickly understood the reason why. 

It was thanks to Elena-sama. Elena-sama had drawn her sword. She probably cast some kind of barrier around the people there with her sword. 

I sighed, feeling relieved and beside me, Harry was breathing heavily. 

He glared at me briefly. His eyes were still as malicious as ever. But he didn’t linger. He quickly walked away from me. 

The two princesses still remained close to me. And of course, Rina showed no sign of wanting to move away from me. Given the close proximity of our bodies, I could directly feel the softness of their bodies on both of my arms but I quickly shook my head to pull myself together. 

“Rina.”

“Yes.”

“Can you please use your healing magic on the injured?”

“If that’s what Onii-sama wishes for me to do, I will do it.”

“Thanks.”

“Onii-sama.”

“Hm?”

“Bringing me here was the right decision after all, right?”

My little sister asked, she emphasized her question by rubbing her twin marshmallow against my arm even more. 

And so, I gently stroked Rina’s head. 

“Yeah. Bringing you along was the right decision indeed. Not only are you skilled at attack magic, but you’re also great at healing magic.”

After exchanging silent glances at the two princesses, I signaled them with my eyes before heading to the stage to tend the injured people with Rina. 

(Little did Kanato know, the two princesses were blushing as they stared intently at Kanato. Their cheeks were dyed in the same pink hue as their hair and their gaze on Kanato’s back was so intense, as if they wanted to burn a hole on his back. Slowly, a tingling warm sensation was pulsing deep in their stomach, right where their womb was.)
