Newlywed Feeling
The next morning, when I wake up, I can smell the delicious aroma of miso soup.
“Good morning, Ami-san. I woke up earlier, so I decided to make breakfast for us. Please have it before you head to work.”
“……”
“Ami-san? Are you awake? How about washing your face and fixing that bed head? Your cute face is ruined with that messy hair.”
Is this person really Souji-kun?
“The Souji-kun I know won’t say such things like that.”
“Is that so? Maybe it’s because he stopped being so reserved. It’s strange for siblings to be so polite to each other, isn’t it?”
I give up on the conversation and start to prepare for work. After changing into my work clothes and applying some light make up, I eat the breakfast Souji-kun has prepared.
“This is the first time I’ve had a meal cooked by you.”
“I used to be terrible at cooking, but I’ve been trying my best to learn how to cook recently. How does it taste?”
“It’s delicious…wait a minute! Why are you making breakfast with such a straight face? Like it’s a matter of course? Are you planning to keep staying here?”
“Well, umm, to improve the mood? Also, to make an appeal for us to live together? Yeah, I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.”
“Hah…it’s like our positions have been completely reversed…”
“I see. That’s true. Now understand how Ami-san felt back then. It’s really hard to be rejected by someone, isn’t it? I’m sorry for being so cold when we were in high school.”
“You don’t need to understand it…”
“Anyway, are you sure you have time for this? You have to go to work, right?”
“Ah!? It’s already this time!? Anyhow, you can stay here if you want, but please behave and stay put!”
“Yeah, understood. Good luck with your work.”
My mood is all over the place since the morning.
During my lunch break, I decided to call Emi.
“Hello, Emi? I have something I want to ask.”
“What’s wrong, Onee-chan? Why did you call me all of a sudden?”
“Don’t ask me what’s wrong. You gave Souji-kun my address, right?”
“Eh? I can’t?”
“Why did you do that!? Souji-kun is at my place right now. He has been here since last night!”
“Come on, it’s been a while since the two of you had some time alone together. Why not enjoy it and be a bit indulgent?”
“Really, Emi? Even you are saying the same thing? I told him that we shouldn’t meet anymore!”
“You’re still saying that? Onee-chan, you’re as stubborn as ever…”
“Ughhh~~!”
“Well, you know, Onii-chan has been working really hard all this time just to see you, Onee-chan. It wouldn’t hurt to listen to what he has to say. You should discuss things and find a solution that works for the both of you. That doesn’t sound like a bad idea, right?”
“Well, I understand what you’re saying Emi, but…”
“Ah, I have to go now, my class is starting. Bye!”
Wait, did Emi just called Souji-kun ‘Onii-chan’?
Whenever Emi messages me, she still calls him ‘Souji-senpai’, but usually, she calls him ‘Onii-chan’?
When I finished work and return home, I can smell the delicious smell of meat being grilled all the way from outside.
I open the front door and enter my apartment to find Souji-kun, wearing my apron, cooking in the kitchen.
“Welcome home, Ami-san. Good job at work. I made hamburgers for us, so please wash your hands and face before we eat together.”
Just like in the morning, being treated by Souji-kun like this makes me feel like a newlywed couple.
It feels very strange, and the apron doesn’t suit him at all.
