I Ended Up Pretending to Be the Boyfriend of a Beautiful but Tough Classmate for Just a Month, but It Seems That She Has Awakened Her Yandere Tendencies Because of That. - Chapter 34
Chapter 34
“Hmm, that was fun.”
After the dolphin show ended and the crowd began to disperse, I sat with Takamiya, both of us soaking in the afterglow. As fewer people remained, Takamiya stretched her arms out and spoke with satisfaction.
“Yeah, it was amazing.”
“Right? But… sorry again for bringing up that weird topic. Maybe I was just too excited.”
“You came here to relax, right? Did talking about it help?”
“…Yeah.”
“Then it was worth coming. I had fun too, in spite of everything.”
“That’s good. Well, I guess we have to work hard again starting today.”
“Yeah.”
We slowly stood up and left the venue. Takamiya’s expression was bright, and it seemed almost like I had mistaken her for someone else when I saw her crying earlier.
But she had definitely been crying.
Maybe it had been tough for her, or maybe she was just overwhelmed with emotion.
I wouldn’t ask her why for now.
“Now then, I’m hungry.”
“Do you want to buy something on the way home?”
“Since we’re in a neighboring town, why not eat somewhere we don’t usually go?”
“Sure, but is there anywhere you want to go?”
“Well, there’s a famous café behind the station. How about that?”
“Another café, huh?”
“What’s wrong with that?”
“I didn’t say I dislike it.”
“Then stop looking like you do. Come on, let’s go.”
When we left the aquarium, Takamiya kept glancing back and stopping, looking wistful, with a sad expression.
But once we got near the station, she smiled and said, “Hmm, that was really fun,” as she recalled the time we had spent.
“Wait, you didn’t take any pictures? What were you doing?”
As soon as we arrived at the café behind the station, Takamiya demanded to see the pictures from the dolphin show, leading to a small dispute.
“Well, it wasn’t the right moment to take pictures with all that talk going on.”
“That’s your fault too! I’m sorry, but you forgot!”
“That’s a bit unreasonable.”
“Ugh, I was going to show them to Mika too…”
Takamiya let out an exaggerated sigh, resting her chin on her hand in a pout.
She had been so excited when she saw the retro-style shop with about twenty seats.
Honestly, she’s so emotionally unstable.
“…Well, if you want, we can go again. This time, I’ll treat you.”
I said, a bit exasperated.
At that, Takamiya, who had been staring out the window looking bored, turned to look at me with wide eyes.
“Wait… does that mean…?”
“N-No, it doesn’t mean much.”
“It’s that gal from the aquarium, isn’t it?”
“…Huh?”
“Definitely. She was at the dolphin show too, and you probably missed the photo because you were too busy staring at her, right?”
“Whose story are you talking about?”
“Don’t play dumb. You were totally uninterested in the aquarium, but now you want to go again? It’s so suspicious.”
Takamiya turned away, pouting again.
I wanted to snap at her for jumping to conclusions, but her childish behavior seemed so deliberate.
In a way, it was so typical of her.
“If you don’t want to go, that’s fine.”
“…I didn’t say I don’t want to go.”
“Then stop looking like you do.”
“…So, can you promise me you’ll take pictures next time?”
“Yeah, I’ll take them. So stop pouting like a kid already.”
“I’m not pouting. Now, hurry up and order something.”
She handed me the menu while looking outside.
It seemed like it was going to stay like this for a while.
I sighed and gave in, glancing at the menu. I called the waiter over and ordered a hamburger lunch. I heard her mutter, “You’re acting like a kid too.”
“Well, what are you going to order?”
“…The same as you.”
“Alright, two of those, please.”
I gave the order to the waiter, and she chuckled.
She was a beautiful woman, so I thought Takamiya might say something, but she didn’t.
She just stayed quiet, staring out the window.
I watched her for a while, and after a bit, she spoke up, sounding bored.
“Hey.”
“What’s up? Did your mood improve?”
“I’m not mad. But, isn’t it the boyfriend’s job to cheer up his girlfriend when she’s upset?”
“…I’m sorry about the photos. And I really don’t want to go back to the aquarium because of some specific person.”
“Then why do you want to go?”
“Well… um.”
I hesitated.
Because today was fun.
Because I was happy to see Takamiya enjoying herself.
Because I wanted to go on another date.
I could never say that.
Besides, if she were my real girlfriend, she might be happy to hear it, but I didn’t know how Takamiya would react.
She might misunderstand and get mad.
When I thought about it like that, I just couldn’t say it.
“What is it? Tell me.”
“…Penguins.”
“Penguins?”
“Yeah, I didn’t get to really see them because I was too busy taking pictures. I want to see them again.”
“…You like them?”
“Is there something wrong with that?”
“Nah, not at all. I like them too, I guess.”
Takamiya chuckled.
Then, she added, “Well, I’ll forgive you for today.”
Finally, Takamiya seemed to be in a better mood.
She quickly said, “I’ll go wash my hands before the food comes,” and left her seat.
“…I’m such an idiot.”
I’m really not good at being honest with myself.
He asked to go again, and I was happy about it, but I shouldn’t expect more.
I shouldn’t hope for more.
I just want him to say he wants to go with me.
What was that about penguins?
It’s definitely a lie.
He didn’t seem interested at all.
It’s not like we’re both bad at being honest, right?
Does he really want to go with me?
Would it be okay to ask when he gets back?
Will he answer?
…
I won’t be able to ask.
“By the way, what happened with the photo?”
The picture with the penguin.
His awkward smile.
Mine.
Looking so ridiculously happy.
If I show it to Mika, she’ll probably tease me again.
