She looked like a foreigner with her lustrous silver hair and blue eyes. However, what made her appearance unique was her long and pointed ears. She looked like the typical elf that I often saw in manga and anime. 

…I knew it. This must be another world after all.

“Why are you alone in a place like this? There’s no village nearby and judging from how you were struggling to fight against those slimes, I don’t think you’re an adventurer?”

“Well… Actually, I’m not really sure myself. I suddenly found myself in this place. I didn’t know how I got here or where I am. Also, my memories are a bit fuzzy…”

For the time being, I decided to not lie. While all the facts I had gathered so far convinced me that this was indeed a different world, but I doubt they would believe me if I said that. Hence why I thought it’d be best if I kept that fact to myself for now. 

“So… You don’t have any idea where this place is? Or where did you come from?”

“No, I have no idea where this place is. But, I know where I came from. I’m from a country called Japan.”

“Japan… I’ve never heard of that country before.”

“At least, there’s no country called Japan around here.”

“…Maybe he got teleported all of a sudden because of an error in magic power energy. It’s a very rare occurrence, but there have been cases where magic in areas with high concentrations of magic power go haywire and suddenly forcibly teleport people out of there. At least, I know he’s not lying to us.”

Yes. I definitely got transferred here because of magic. It seemed magic existed in this world and for some reason, she could tell whether I was lying or not. Maybe she was able to find out whether someone was lying or not with magic?

“For real? Sounds rough. So that’s why you have such beautiful black hair. There’s not many people with black hair around here.”

The four of us started walking toward the nearby town. It seemed, had I gone the opposite way, I would’ve eventually arrived at the town. I might had picked the wrong choice, but thanks to that, I got to meet Elmie-san and the others. So I guess it might had been a good thing that I encountered those slimes. 

“My name is Souma Ogu-… I mean, Souma.”

I remembered that in most isekai tropes, only nobles had last names. 

“Souma, huh? I’m Ferris.”

“….Souma sounds pretty tomboy. It’s quite an unusual name for a boy. I’m Flora. Nice to meet you.”

…No, what do you mean by ‘tomboy’? I don’t think my name is weird, especially for a boy. 

“So Elmie-san,Ferris-san and Flora-san? Nice to meet you all.”

“There’s no need for you to add ‘-san’ to our name. Nice to meet you, Souma!”

It felt a bit awkward to address them casually when this was our first time knowing each other, but I guess maybe the culture in this world was more casual than Japan? I still felt a bit embarrassed to address women informally like that, but I should try my best to go along with the culture of this world as much as I could. 

“Alright. Nice to meet you, Ferris.”

Huh? For some reason, Ferris looked a bit flustered. She was blushing. Even though she was the one that told me there was no need to add ‘-san’. 

“But Souma, you’re pretty lucky, you know. In the nearby forest, there are goblins and orcs too. You’re lucky you got attacked by a slime and only had your clothes melted by them.”

Ooh, I’m really fortunate then. Even though monsters like goblins and orcs might not sound like a big deal in games, but given my non-existent combat skill, I would definitely die if I met one of them.

Hm? Suddenly, Elmie, who had been walking ahead of us, stopped in her tracks. Both Ferris and Flora also stopped walking and told me to stand down. However, I couldn’t see anything but a big boulder in front of us. 

“Hey! We know you’re there! Why don’t you show yourself now?!”

Elmie drew her longsword out and yelled at the rock. 

What’s going on? Maybe someone is hiding behind that rock?

“….Tch. Not bad. I guess a surprise attack is not possible anymore. Oi! Everyone!”

A woman emerged from behind the rock. She was donned in tattered pants with a green and black camouflage pattern to blend with the surrounding grass. She was also wearing a coat made from what seemed to be animal or monster fur and she had a gleaming large knife on her right hand. Then, from behind her, a total of eight women also revealed themselves. Moreover, those women, just like the first one, were dressed in a typical getup for bandits. 

Huh. How unusual. An all-female gang of bandits. 

“Hehehehe… I see you’ve got a cute little one with you! Alright, hear me out. Leave all your valuables and that cute little one here and I will spare your lives!”

Darn it. By ‘cute little one’, they must be referring to Flora. Indeed, Flora was really petite. An adorable elven girl. She definitely fit the term ‘cute’. If slavery existed in this world, someone like Flora would undoubtedly fetch a high price in the market. 

“Stop messing around! We won’t handle a single thing over to the likes of you bandits!! In fact, you girls are the ones that need to surrender! We will spare your lives if you surrender now!”

Elmie showed no sign of backing down an inch against the bandits’ threat.
