How I Ended Up with an Extreme Yandere Landmine Beauty When I Asked to Hang Out with My Best Friend's Sister to Get Better at Talking to Girls - Chapter 44-45
Chapter 44: The Roller Coaster and Azuri’s Deadpan Face
I’d made up my mind to ride the roller coaster next to Azuri.
Mayana and Maki both looked pretty unhappy about it, but I figured the two sisters sitting together would be way better than either of them riding next to a guy like me…
Still, part of me felt like I’d totally screwed up the choice.
Honestly, picking Mayana or Maki would’ve been fine too, but since Azuri didn’t get along with either of them—in fact, things were pretty bad between them—I thought this was the best option. Was I the only one who saw it that way…?
We moved over to the roller coaster line and got in queue.
Just like the seating on the ride, Azuri and I stood side by side, while Mayana and Maki lined up right behind us.
“I believed you’d pick me, Ryoya-san.”
“Well, yeah… I guess I just read the room, kinda.”
“Aww, getting all shy again ♡ The feelings you confessed to me on the Ferris wheel, and now this big decision… they’re coming through loud and clear all over Azuri’s body, y’know?”
“S-stop that, Azuri. It’s kinda embarrassing.”
Also, I’d been wondering this the whole time—what’s with this “confession on the Ferris wheel” thing?
Azuri was treating it like some super heavy moment, but all I actually said was “Stop fighting and try to get along with Mayana too.” That’s it.
It wasn’t like she was exaggerating on purpose… more like she completely misunderstood?
“Hey, Azuri-chan? Just so we’re clear, you and Ryoya are strictly in a teacher-student thing for this training, so don’t go getting any weird ideas, okay?”
“If that’s how it is, Maki-san, then you’re just Ryoya-san’s childhood friend and nothing more than a ‘buddy,’ right? So maybe it’d be better for you if you stopped acting like his girlfriend.”
“W-what? I’m not acting like his girlfriend or anything! Right, Ryoya? We’ve always been like this, haven’t we?”
Maki suddenly turned the conversation on me.
Always been like this, huh…
“Yeah, pretty much. Maki’s always been like this. She’s known me better than anybody since we were kids.”
“Ryoya…”
Maki’s eyes suddenly got all shiny and watery as she looked over at me.
Wh-what’s with that face?
I said we’ve always been like this, but normally she doesn’t make statements or expressions this… unclear. Something was definitely off with Maki today.
Maybe it was because Azuri and Mayana were around, and that was making her act so different.
“But the fact that this ‘get used to girls’ training is even happening means that, to Ryoya-san, Maki-san isn’t in a ‘girl’ kind of relationship with him at all, right?”
“Azuri-chan? You really don’t wanna make me mad—”
“Excuse me! Dear guests? It’s your turn now, so please board the ride~!”
We’d been so caught up talking that one of the roller coaster staff called out to us.
“Ah, s-sorry! Come on, you three, let’s go.”
I hurried them along, and the four of us headed onto the roller coaster.
Azuri and I took the very front row side by side, and right behind us the sisters, Mayana and Maki, sat together.
“Ryoya-san, are you good with roller coasters?”
Right after we sat down, Azuri—who was on my right—leaned over and asked.
“Huh? Nah, I haven’t really ridden them much, so honestly I don’t even know if I’m good at them or not.”
For an introverted guy like me, amusement parks had pretty much been a foreign world until now.
The last time I rode one was back in elementary school on that school trip with Shinichi.
Back then it was Shinichi sitting next to me, but now here I was riding with his little sister Azuri.
Never thought a day like this would come.
“If you get scared, you can hold my hand, okay?”
“Uh… yeah. Thanks, Azuri.”
Come to think of it, Shinichi said something similar back then too.
‘Hey, Ryoya! If it gets scary, you can just close your eyes, alright!’
Yeah, they really are siblings.
Especially that kind side of them.
And then the roller coaster started moving.
It dropped into a pretty steep slope right away, but this wasn’t some famous huge amusement park, so the speed wasn’t anything crazy.
“Huh, guess it’s not so bad… hm?”
The moment I casually glanced over at Azuri—
“…! Ah—Azuri!?”
When I looked to the side, Azuri wasn’t screaming “kyaa” like some cute scared girl, and she wasn’t even pretending to be frightened. She was just sitting there completely stone-faced, eyes wide open, staring straight at my face the whole time… W-wait, why!?

The roller coaster started moving, but I noticed something weird right away.
I’d been totally expecting to hear some cutesy, high-pitched “kyaa!” scream from Azuri next to me.
But nothing like that came. Azuri stayed completely silent.
And when I looked over at her…
“…stare”
W-wait, why is Azuri staring at me so hard!?
We’re dropping down steep hills on a roller coaster, but she’s not fazed at all—just dead serious, eyes locked on my face.
“Ryoya-san’s scared face, Ryoya-san’s scared face. Your voice, your spit, I want it all.”
Wh-what’s she saying? The wind’s too loud and I can’t catch it clearly, but Azuri keeps muttering something like a chant while staring straight at me the whole time.
At this point, Azuri’s way scarier than the actual roller coaster.
And so, with Azuri just blankly staring at me the entire ride, the roller coaster finished its loop without really feeling like a roller coaster at all.
It was more tense and awkward than heart-pounding—why was that, I wonder.
“Ryoya-san, that was fun, right? ♡ The roller coaster?”
“Uh, yeah, sure.”
“Ah, but you didn’t scream much at all, Ryoya-san, and more importantly there wasn’t any spit or sweat coming out, so… should we ride again until it does?”
“That’s straight-up torture!?”
What the hell was Azuri’s real goal in wanting to sit next to me so bad…?
Did she just wanna see my screaming face or something?
She was so desperate to sit beside me that I actually thought for a second maybe Azuri… ugh, I feel like an idiot for even considering that.
“Ryoya, you actually didn’t freak out much, huh. I thought you weren’t good with this kind of ride?”
“That was back in the day. Plus, the ones I really can’t handle are the spinning ones.”
“Ah… r-right, yeah.”
“What’s up, Maki? Your face just went all red.”
Both Maki and Azuri are acting so weird today—what’s the deal?
“Mayana, you didn’t seem that scared, right?”
“…If Ryoya-senpai had been sitting next to me, I might’ve gotten a little more excited.”
Mayana said it in her usual sharp, prickly tone, but there was something different about it this time.
A tiny bit sulky? Nah, maybe not.
“Okay, let’s go to the next one, Ryoya!”
“Eh? Can we maybe take a little break first?”
“Ryoya-senpai, next let’s do the teacups.”
“Ryoya-san! This time the haunted house!”
The three of them kept throwing suggestions one after another, completely steamrolling me, and before I knew it we’d spent the whole day running around the park without even stopping for lunch.
What the heck is up with these three’s stamina…?

“I-I’m home—”
After finishing the “get used to girls” training at the amusement park, I dragged my exhausted body back home and just collapsed straight onto my bed.
We ended up hitting every single ride.
But going to an amusement park with that much awkward tension? Never again.
“I never expected all three of them to show up… oh yeah, it was Shinichi who told Maki where I was, right?”
I was happy Maki came, but man, it turned into such a hassle.
I should probably say something to Shinichi about blabbing my personal info like that.
I opened up Lime on my phone and shot him a message: “Did you tell Maki where I was?”
“Haa… guess I’ll just take a quick bath and crash… hm?”
Right as I was about to plug my phone in to charge before heading to the bath…
‘Shinichi: Tell Maki what? I haven’t talked to Maki at all lately except when you’re around too, y’know?’
“…Huh?”
All of a sudden a chill ran down my spine and the hairs on the back of my neck stood straight up.
