How I Ended Up with an Extreme Yandere Landmine Beauty When I Asked to Hang Out with My Best Friend's Sister to Get Better at Talking to Girls - Chapter 35-36
Chapter 35: Azuri’s Intentions
After Mayana and I rode the merry-go-round together, next Azuri said she wanted to ride something with just me and her, and what she picked was totally unexpected…
“I’d like the Ferris wheel.”
Th-the Ferris wheel!?
It was so out of left field that I almost blurted it out loud, but I barely managed to hold it back.
I mean, come on, the Ferris wheel is obviously something you save for last, right?
No way is it an attraction you jump on right after you get to the amusement park.
“Niijima-san… are you serious?”
“Serious or not, Tada-senpai said you’d ride anything I want to ride, didn’t you?”
Since I’d literally just said “anything” earlier, the vibe made it really hard to say no now.
“Uh, y-yeah… if you’re cool with the Ferris wheel, Azuri, then sure, that’s fine.”
“Wait a sec, Tada-senpai! Being alone in a closed gondola with Niijima-san—who knows what she’s gonna do!”
“Huh? Saito-san, aren’t you the one who’s all ‘I just wanna hog Tada-senpai all to myself and that’s enough’? That’s straight-up selfish ego right there~ Your personality is sooo baaaad!”
“…Niijima-san, you—”
Oh crap, oh crap.
The air was getting super tense again… looked like another fight was about to break out.
“Anyway! Look, like I said—I’m riding whatever Azuri wants! That’s the deal we made!”
I said it firmly to somehow calm things down for the moment.
“As expected of Tada-senpai♡ I really wish Saito-san could share even a little bit of that kindness♡”
“…Ugh, fake-innocent landmine girl.”
“Right back at you♡”
No matter how many times I tried to settle them, the two just kept glaring at each other.
Catfish act or straight-up catfight—take your pick.
Azuri’s got a pretty bold personality too, but Mayana’s just as competitive, so they both keep flashing these glimpses of their hidden sides at each other.
I asked Azuri to help train me to get better with girls, but honestly, what I’ve been learning through this training so far feels less like normal “getting used to girls” and way more like studying the dark, shady parts of them…
“Come on, Tada-senpai! The Ferris wheel’s empty right now—let’s go!”
“Uh, o-oh, okay.”
Azuri looked really happy as she grabbed my hand and practically dragged me toward the Ferris wheel line.
Mayana watched us go with this worried look on her face.
I get why Mayana felt uneasy, though.
Sure, it’s supposed to be date training, but right now we’re in the middle of that heart-rate competition game.
If you get a one-on-one ride, obviously you’d pick the attraction that pumps your heart rate the most—that’s just common sense.
There are tons of rides that would spike your heart rate way more, yet Azuri still chose the Ferris wheel.
Mayana probably felt something was off about that.
It makes sense she’d start suspecting Azuri had some kind of plan.
But…
I glanced at Azuri’s profile as she gripped my left hand really tightly.
No matter how I look at it… I just can’t see Azuri as the type of girl who’d think up something bad.
We haven’t known each other that long, but things have actually been going pretty well between us, so there’s no way she’d suddenly pull something weird on me.
Yeah, no way. That’s impossible.

Chapter 36: Yandere Landmine and the Ferris Wheel! No Way Nothing Happens, Right?
So here I am, ending up riding the Ferris wheel alone with Azuri… no, seriously, how the hell did it come to this!?
While I’m mentally yelling at myself, Azuri and I hold hands and line up for the Ferris wheel.
To anyone watching, we probably look exactly like a couple… but in reality, we’re not.
We’re strictly just coach and student in my girl-practice training.
Even if we’re doing the couple hand-hold thing, Azuri probably doesn’t have any romantic feelings toward me or anything, and more importantly right now…
“I’m not gonna lose to Saito-san. There’s a battle here I absolutely can’t lose. No losing, no losing, gonna win, gonna win.”
Ever since a bit ago Azuri’s been muttering this like some kind of chant under her breath, totally showing her fighting spirit.
This time things have turned into using me as material for their battle.
Even riding the Ferris wheel like this is just to rack up points… that’s all it is.
When I think about it that way, it kinda makes me feel lonely.
Not just the Ferris wheel—earlier I rode the merry-go-round with Mayana too, and honestly the whole reason we came to the amusement park today is because my girl-practice training is just a side thing. The main event is their showdown.
If it keeps going like this… that’s no good, right.
If we only came here for their battle, if we’re just gonna do this pointless fight, then I…
“Hey, Azuri… I—”
“Next group〜, come on in〜”
Right when I finally tried to say it clearly to Azuri, the Ferris wheel staff called us at the exact same moment.
Damn it! I finally worked up the courage to say a bunch of stuff. The timing sucks so bad.
“Ryoya-san?”
“Nah, let’s talk once we’re on.”
Azuri and I got into the gondola and sat facing each other in the narrow little box.
Our toes just barely touching.
The whole space filled with Azuri’s sweet perfume.
Being in such a tight space with Azuri, knees pointed right at each other…
I stared at Azuri’s small face right in front of me.
She stared back with a super serious look in her eyes.
I’ve gotta say it properly.
“Hey, Azuri.”
“Yes… I’ll accept all of Ryoya-san’s feelings, everything.”
“Huh? Feelings?”
Wait, hold up, isn’t she getting the wrong idea?
That’s not what I wanted to talk about at all.
“Um! No, that’s not it, Azuri. There’s something I wanna talk about regarding today.”
“Huh? I totally thought you were gonna invite me to do something naughty with you or whatever.”
“Why would you jump to that!?”
I mean… would she actually accept that kind of invitation from me…? Kinda happy but—no, that’s not the point right now!
“Look, ever since we got here today I’ve just been getting used as ammo in you two’s competition, and honestly it’s starting to bug me.”
I just laid my real feelings out to Azuri.
“Even though it’s part of girl-practice training, we came here to have fun as three people, right? Shouldn’t we just enjoy ourselves instead of focusing on the battle?”
“Ryoya-san…”
“Plus I really wanna see your real smile, Azuri! More than the face you make when you’re stressing over a competition, I came here today because I wanted to see you laughing and having fun at the amusement park.”
“…!”
No one else around—just us in this Ferris wheel gondola.
But this is how I really feel…
“Ryoya-san… um, I’m sorry.”
“Huh? Ah, Azuri?”
“I was so caught up in the competition that I didn’t really think about your feelings at all.”
Azuri’s brows furrowed with guilt as she apologized.
“Hey, don’t apologize, Azuri! I’m the one who was being creepy, right!? Saying I wanna see your smile and stuff—even though it’s supposed to be just part of girl-practice training—I was mixing in weird feelings—”
“But that means… Ryoya-san is choosing me, right?”
“Huh? Eh?”
I suddenly felt the air inside the gondola shift.
“Because you said you want to see my smile, didn’t you? Not Saito-san’s—my smile.”
“Uh… w-well, yeah.”
I couldn’t really keep up with the situation and answered in a small voice.
Why’s Azuri suddenly getting all soft and moist like this…
I mean yeah I said I wanted to see her smile but.
“Hehe… hehehe… Got it, Ryoya-san. Let’s stop this pointless fight!”
Azuri said that and started taking the watch off both my wrists.
“Huh, is it okay to just decide that on your own? What about Mayana—”
“It’s fine♡ I’ll just casually admit defeat to her later.”
“R-really!? You were so intense about it earlier—”
Right when I tried to say that, Azuri suddenly pressed her index finger softly against my lips.
“It’s okay. Because… even if I lose the battle, I’ve already won the match♡”
She said that and gave this little devilish, kinda suspicious smile.
I was already flustered from the sudden lip touch, and I didn’t even have time to process what she meant—I was just heart-pounding like crazy.
M-my lips… her finger’s on them…!
“Well, to be honest I was planning to do something so insane inside this Ferris wheel that I’d be too embarrassed to even say it out loud just to win the competition, but oh well.”
Hey wait—what the hell was she gonna do to me!?
By some miracle I avoided something absolutely insane.
But… doesn’t this mean she’s gonna end up admitting defeat to Mayana in their battle?
I wonder how that’s gonna turn out…
