Today marked the last four days of summer vacation, and I was supposed to study for the assignment test after the break together with Reona and Riona, but from the morning, something felt off.

“…It’s unusual for them not to come by this time.”

Normally, they would come early enough to slip into my bed while I was still sleeping, but today there was no sign of them at all. While I was thinking that, my smartphone, charging by my pillow, began to vibrate along with the ringtone. The caller ID displayed “Reona Tsurugi.”

“Hello?”

“Ah, I knew you’d already be up.”

“I’ve got people who sneak into my bed in the morning, after all. So, what’s up?”

“Actually, Riona caught a cold and ended up bedridden. I was thinking of taking care of her today, so I wanted to ask if we could cancel today’s test study session.”

I see, so that was why Reona and Riona, who usually invaded my house like they own the place from early morning, hadn’t shown up today.

“Okay, got it. It must be rough for Riona to catch a cold at a time like this.”

“Thanks, and sorry.”

With those words, Reona seemed to hang up, and the call ended. Since it was good that they didn’t come to invade me today, I thought I’d just study alone today, but then my eyes landed on Riona’s tote bag lying in the corner of my room.

“Come to think of it, she forgot it here yesterday. It’s a bit troublesome, but I guess I’ll bring it over.”

I had no idea what was inside, but there might be something she’d be in trouble without. I decided I’d also bring along something to cheer her up while she was sick. I grabbed Riona’s tote bag along with my own bag and left the house. I had already been to their house once during the recent birthday party, so I knew the way.

After stopping by the drugstore, I headed to Reona and Riona’s house. Once I arrived at my destination, I rang the intercom. After a short wait, Reona appeared at the door, dressed in casual clothes.

“Huh? What’s up with you showing up all of a sudden? Oh, don’t tell me—you were lonely and just couldn’t stand not seeing our faces?”

“No, no, that’s not it. I brought over the tote bag Riona forgot at my place yesterday, and since I was already on my way here, I bought some things to give her too.”

I answered Reona, who teased me as usual, while holding out Riona’s tote bag and the plastic bag from the drugstore.

“Thanks for going out of your way to bring the bag back. Well. Since you’re here, why don’t you come in? I think Riona will be happier if you hand it to her directly.”

“Alright, I’ll take you up on that offer.”

I entered the house with Reona and headed straight to Riona’s room.

“Riona, Ryouya-kun brought your forgotten bag and some things for you.”

“…Ryouya, you’re here.”

Riona wore a mask with a cooling gel sheet on her forehead, and even her voice sounded much weaker than usual. Now that I thought about it, I’d been in this position when I ran a fever after we played in the pool the other day.

“Oh, right. Since you’re here, how about you help me take care of her?”

“I still owe you for taking care of me the other day, so sure.”

“Then please help Riona change clothes.”

“…Huh?”

I felt like I had just been casually handed a ridiculously outrageous request. Was I hearing things?

“Ryouya, please…”

Though Riona’s voice was frail, her gaze was piercingly sharp. 

Ah, she really does intend for me to help her change.

Based on my experience, I knew from the start that I had no right to refuse, so there was no point in resisting. I carefully averted my eyes while taking off Riona’s pajamas. When I tried to put a new T-shirt on her, though, she stopped me.

“…Wait, there’s still the underwear left.”

“Eh, do I really have to take that off too…?”

“Of course.”

I desperately wished she would spare me from that, but it was obvious she had no intention of letting me off the hook. Reluctantly, I reached to remove her underwear, but I realized I had no idea how to actually do it.

“If you can’t undo this, you’ll have trouble in the future, Ryouya.”

“Yeah, yeah, so make sure you get lots of practice now.”

“If you two know how to do it, then just tell me already.”

“That wouldn’t help you grow, so we can’t do that.”

“You need to do it yourself. It’s important to have you undo it yourself.”

They were saying things that sounded plausible, but it was clear both of them were enjoying this way too much. 

No way… Don’t tell me she actually caught a cold on purpose just to mess with me?

Needless to say, it took an absurd amount of time just to help Riona change her clothes.
