Chapter 124: Onee-chan and I Are Both Satisfied With This

“Ryouya-kun, wake up.”

“You’ve got to start getting ready or you won’t make it in time.”

Shaken awake by Reona and Riona, I was still groggy, but I finally remembered that today was undeniably one of the most important events of my life. Yes, today was our wedding day. Since I had zero friends, they were considerate enough to limit the attendees to just family, but even so, if I ended up being late because I overslept, I felt like I might actually be killed by them.

“Whew, that was close. Seriously, thanks for waking me up.”

“Ryouya-kun is just so… Ryouya-kun, even at a time like this.”

“Onee-chan and I are already ready. You’re the only one left.”

I got up from the bed and rushed to get ready. The ceremony was scheduled to start at eleven, so I had to be at the venue about three hours beforehand to prepare.

I never thought the day would come when I’d get married. If the old me who had just started high school were to hear this, he would’ve scoffed at me. It was simply that impossible for the old me to have a girlfriend, let alone get married.. I even thought I’d wither away single for the rest of my life.

“…Let me ask one last time. You’re both really okay with this, right?”

“Yeah, Riona and I made this decision together.”

“Onee-chan and I are both satisfied with this.”

Needless to say, under Japanese law, you could only marry one person. That meant I had to choose one of them; I couldn’t marry both. So when they proposed a solution where I’d legally marry one of them and the other would become my officially recognized mistress, I honestly couldn’t believe what I was hearing. But the two of them seemed completely satisfied with that arrangement, so there was probably nothing more I could say about it.

Once we finished getting ready, we headed to the wedding venue to begin preparations. Naturally, as the groom, I didn’t need as much time for dressing and makeup as the bride did, so I had to wait for a while while they had their makeup ready.  By the way, both of them were planning to wear wedding dresses for the ceremony. That alone already made it unlike any normal wedding. It was also part of the reason we limited the guest list to just family.

After a while, one of the venue staff came to get me, saying the brides were ready with their dressing and makeup. When I moved to the waiting room, there stood Reona and Riona, both in pure white wedding dresses.

“How do we look?”

“Ah, you both look absolutely stunning.”

“Thank goodness. I was worried you’d still be the typical Ryouya even at a time like this.”

“Even I’ve matured a bit since back then, you know.”

“Coming from the Ryouya-kun who almost overslept on such an important day, that’s not very convincing.”

Yeah, can’t argue with that. But I really have grown a bit since the old days. Still, the wedding’s finally about to start… I’m getting a little nervous.

Maybe I should try that trick Reona taught me a long time ago—writing the kanji for “person” three times on my palm and pretending to swallow it to calm the nerves. As I was thinking that, my body suddenly began to shake, as if someone was shaking me.

“Ryouya-kun, wake up. It’s already lunchtime.”

Even though neither of the girls in front of me seemed to be talking, I could hear Reona’s voice. And strangely, it was coming from above me. Then, in the next instant—I woke up from my dream.

“You finally woke up. Ryouya-kun, you really do fall asleep hard in class.”

“Hurry up or lunch break’s going to be over.”

“…Huh? What about the wedding?”

“Wow, so Ryouya-kun was having such a fun dream. I’d love to hear the details—just who were you marrying in that dream?”

“Cheating after just one week of dating? Yeah, I don’t think I can let that slide.”

It finally dawned on me that everything earlier had just been a dream, but I didn’t have time to process that because Reona and Riona, radiating a pitch-black aura, had grabbed my shoulders with painful strength. 

Wait—does cheating count even in a dream?

“No, no, it wasn’t cheating! It was a dream where I married Reona and Riona, so it’s totally fine!”

“Oh? So you’re already thinking that far ahead, huh, Ryouya-kun?”

“See? I told you Ryouya could pull it off if he tried.”

It looked like they’d calmed down for now, so I let out a sigh of relief. Then they started bombarding me with questions, clearly intrigued by the dream I’d just had.

“So, what was the wedding like?”

“How about the kiss to seal the vows?”

“Sorry, I got woken up before we got to that part.”

“Ehh, boring.”

“You missed the most important part.”

Reona and Riona started pouting again, so I had to explain once more that it was just a dream. Eventually, they accepted that.

Still, even then, I couldn’t help but think how much my life had changed. I had been just a plain, ordinary guy with nothing going for me, but everything had changed the moment I risked my life to save those beautiful twin sisters.

Now that I had made those two—who turned out to be genuine yanderes—fall for me for real, I probably was never going to be able to escape from Reona and Riona for the rest of my life. But maybe… A life like that wouldn’t have been so bad anyway.

I didn’t have any solid reason for thinking so, but I just had a feeling that my life would be just fine.
