Chapter 44 The Hero’s Parents Are Bragging
After handing the letter of introduction to the hotel’s concierge, they were guided smoothly.
The hotel, a towering skyscraper with sixty-five floors above ground and five below, was the pinnacle of luxury. They were heading to the top floor.
To access the top floor, one needed a card embedded with a special teleportation magic circle, and only those with such a card could enter.
Everything in this place was of the highest class. Even Croix and Wiel, accustomed to luxury, had never been to such a place.
There was a vast living room.
Two bathrooms.
Two bedrooms.
A lounge area.
A balcony with magical wind protection.
In addition, there was an indoor pool and an all-you-can-drink wine cellar.
“Unbelievable.”
“This is what you’d expect from royalty. To have something like this prepared so casually…”
“Wow, wow, wow…! It’s so expensive and amazing…!!”
Even the usually composed Croix and Wiel seemed exhilarated.
Mion leaned out from the balcony, her excitement palpable. Below, there was a faint transparent barrier—a magical safety measure against falls.
The beach and the sea spread out below, with people, boats, and ships looking tiny from this height.
“Are we going to play at that beach?”
“Yes. We’ll do a bit of training too.”
“Training, you say?”
“Walking.”
“…”
“Huh?”
◆
“Wh-what!?”
Splash!
“Cough, cough. Ugh, it’s so salty…! It’s saltier than I heard…!”
Mion, submerged in the sea up to her head, coughed and had tears in her eyes. Two figures looked down at her.
Naturally, it was Croix and Wiel. But they were standing on the sea, quite far offshore.
Mion slowly looked up. There, standing on the water, were an absolutely stunning swimsuit-clad beauty and a muscular bodybuilder.
Wiel’s physique, standing gracefully, was incredibly beautiful. Her white skin contrasted with the black bikini, making it look more alluring despite being a normal swimsuit. Even other women were mesmerized.
Croix’s body was, quite literally, built like a tank.
He wore tight swim trunks, but anyone seeing him on the beach would be too scared to approach.
Overwhelmed by these two, Mion made a grumpy face.
“Walking on water… Even if you can use magic, I don’t think it’s something people can normally do.”
“But I’m doing it, aren’t I?”
Mion was left speechless.
But was it just her imagination that Wiel was exceptional?
“The trick is to concentrate the magic power in the soles of your feet, not your entire legs.”
“Ugh. I just want to have fun…”
“It’s fine if you can stand for five seconds. Here, try again.”
Wiel took Mion’s hand and lifted her up. Mion was wearing a blue monokini swimsuit. Though her body was age-appropriate, she looked lean due to her extensive physical activity.
Wiel felt a bit of a shock seeing Mion in the swimsuit.
“Okay, go ahead.”
“Focus on the soles, the soles, the soles…!”
Mion chanted like a mantra, concentrating the magical power in her feet. But…
“Ahh!?”
In less than a second, she sank back into the sea.
“I can’t do it! It’s impossible!”
“This technique requires delicate magic control. If you master it, you’ll be able to use a much wider range of magic.”
“Ugh…! …Hmm?”
Then she realized. Since Wiel was using magic, it made sense that she was standing on the water.
But Croix, who couldn’t use magic, was also standing on the water.
“Um, Croix-sama. Why can you also stand on the water?”
“Look closely at your feet.”
“Huh? …Hmm?”
Looking closer, she noticed the surface of the water was rippling slightly. Also, Croix’s feet seemed to be trembling a bit.
“I’m moving my feet at an extremely high speed, solidifying the water to stand on.”
“That’s unbelievable.”
It was getting increasingly doubtful whether Croix was human. It was always a question, though.
“Ah, it’s nostalgic. I remember we used to walk on the water all day together.”
“Yeah. Without lights around, the starry sky was beautiful.”
“And that’s when we had our first kiss.”
“Yes, yes. Wiel, you were surprisingly bold and I panicked.”
“Please, forget that!”
Suddenly, they started being affectionate.
Seeing this, Mion slowly sank back into the sea with a sullen look, as if to say, “I can’t deal with this.”
