For Some Reason, I’m Almost Locked up by the Most Beautiful Girl in School Who Can Hear My Inner Thoughts - Chapter 20-21
Chapter 20
“Yuki, come to my place today. Mina’s school ends early today, so she’ll be home too.”
“I’ll come.”
“Alright. I’ll let them know at home then.”
On the way back from school.
Today wasn’t a day to walk home with Noa-san, so I’m heading back with Mitsuki.
After school, Noa-san looked at me with a face like an abandoned puppy, and I almost asked if she wanted to walk home together. But since I had already promised to go with Mitsuki, I hurriedly left the classroom.
It seems I’m weak to Noa-san’s tearful face.
Walking side by side with Mitsuki, he asks about recent events, mostly about Noa-san, and we talk about that as we head to his house.
Mitsuki also takes the train to school, but it’s not too far, so we arrive surprisingly quickly. Even stopping to buy snacks, it didn’t take more than thirty minutes, so it’s quite close.
When we open the front door and step inside,
“Big brother, Yuki-san. Welcome home.”
“I’m back, Mina.”
There stood an angel.
She’s about 140 centimeters tall, petite, with a small face and big, bright eyes that are utterly adorable. Her skin is soft and smooth, like porcelain. Her long, glossy black hair flows straight down to her back.
She’s twelve years old, having started junior high this year.
She’s a gentle, adorable girl, and I can confidently say that anyone who would harm her probably wasn’t born with a human heart.
“It’s been a while, Mina-chan.”
When I pat her head, she happily rubs her head against my hand like a joyful puppy, and my heart feels at peace.
“Yuki-san, I missed you. It’s been so long.”
“Sorry, Mina-chan. I’ve been busy lately.”
“But you came, so I’m happy.”
Mina-chan smiles brightly and hugs me tightly, so I continue to pat her head.
As we do this,
“Hey, stop flirting at the entrance and come inside.”
“Sorry, Mina-chan. Can you let go?”
“No way. Can you carry me like this?”
“Sure, alright.”
If it’s Mina-chan’s request, I can’t say no.
I take off my shoes and carry her in my arms as I head to the room where Mitsuki is waiting.
When we reach the room, I set Mina-chan down to sit for a moment.
But then, as if it’s the most natural thing, Mina-chan sits on my lap with a satisfied look, takes my hand, and places it on her head.
As I stroke her head, she snuggles up to me like a purring cat.
“Yuki, Mina. Let’s play a game.”
“The usual one, right?”
“Even if it’s Yuki-san, I won’t lose at this.”
The game Mitsuki starts is everyone’s favorite, the competitive action game Battle Clash Brothers.
Whenever I come to Mitsuki’s house, we usually play this game.
Mina-chan is incredibly good at it, always taking first place in the end, which is frustrating, but her face when she wins is so heartwarming that I can’t help but smile too.
After a few rounds, we get a bit tired, so we open the snack bag we bought earlier and take a short break.
“Ahh.”
“Here.”
As usual, Mina-chan opens her mouth and waits, so I bring a bite-sized chocolate to her, and she eats it along with my finger.
After sucking on my finger with little smacking sounds, she opens her mouth again. This time, I bring a Pocky, and she nibbles it bit by bit until, in the end, she sucks on my finger again.
“Mina-chan, my finger might be dirty, so you shouldn’t eat it.”
“It’s not dirty. It’s yummy.”
While we’re having this exchange, Mitsuki looks over at us with an exasperated expression.
“Mina doesn’t do that when I try it.”
“Big brother’s fingers aren’t yummy.”
Saying that, she munches on the chocolate snack I’m holding.
Mitsuki looks at his own fingers with a sad expression.
Sorry, Mitsuki.

Chapter 21
The day after I went to Mitsuki’s house to hang out, I’m walking home from school with her again today.
“You had quite a good time with another girl yesterday, didn’t you?”
“Well… yes.”
Noa-san shot me a sidelong glance with half-closed eyes.
But…
“Did I mention playing with Mina-chan?”
I feel like I mentioned hanging out with Mitsuki, but I don’t think I said anything about playing with Mina-chan.
“W-Well, I happened to overhear your conversation with Mitsuki-san. I’m sorry about that. But I wish you had at least told me.”
“I’m sorry.”
Since she apologized, I don’t think I’m entirely at fault, but I bow my head too.
She probably felt left out, like she was excluded while Mitsuki and I were hanging out together.
“Changing the subject, how did you do on the test, Noa-san?”
“The test? Well, I think I got my usual score without any issues.”
She said it so casually.
Noa-san has been consistently getting first place since she entered the school, and even though she was worried about something else this time, it didn’t seem to affect her test at all. She’s probably in first place again.
“But…”
“…? Is something wrong?”
She started to say something but stopped.
When someone stops mid-sentence, it makes the listener incredibly curious about what they were going to say.
I’m no exception, and I’m in that state right now.
“Um, well… it might just be my imagination or maybe I’m being overly self-conscious, and it might cause trouble for you, Yuki-kun.”
“What is it?”
Cause trouble for me?
What could it be?
Could it be that someone from her self-proclaimed fan club is going to cause me trouble?
She seemed hesitant but finally made up her mind to speak.
“Lately, there are some people who seem to be doing something like stalking me.”
“Something like stalking?”
The topic she brought up was a step heavier than I had expected.
“Every morning when I get to school, there’s a letter in my shoe locker.”
She took out the letter from her bag and showed it to me.
The content read, “I’ll definitely save you from that guy, my Noa-san. I love you.”
After that, it listed what they liked about Noa-san and what they loved about her.
“That’s creepy.”
“Yes, it is. So, I thought I should tell you because this creepy guy might cause trouble for you, Yuki-kun.”
“I understand. Thank you.”
It’s probably—almost certainly—referring to me as “that guy.”
It feels like something troublesome is about to start.
