For I Am A Side Character - 72: Summary of the Second Book
As I found myself seating at the living room in the middle of the night, with no lights on except for the lamp beside the coffee table, I carried with me a book on my hands, 1 out of the 11 left that was kept in a hidden place. In this night, I would yet again start reading the the continuation of the story’s development.
From here, I know that some elements will be harder to handle, changes are already made…so I know that somethings won’t follow the story as it should.
Looking at the mission system, it was similar to the first mission.
[Mission #5: Read the second volume of the book under a week.]
[Rewards: [Reward: Progression towards the next mission & 5+ System points.]
[Failure: The increase of Difficulty on proceeding to the next mission.]
[Time Limit: 1 week.]
The second book wasn’t as thick as I remembered from the first book, so I thought that it wasn’t going to take long for me to finish reading it. But as I started reading it…I soon understand why Miles Miller had to be alive.
‘Tell me God, why do you need Miles so much that I needed to save him…’ as I asked this question into the air, I soon started reading.
It started with the introduction to a race called the elves who was a peace-loving race. God created their world about a few hundred years just after the creation of the old world. And in the world of the Elves, God made sure to raise them just as much as the old world. Filled with love and passion..
And as the years passed, the Elves continued to worship god with a rightful heart filled with kindness. But unlike the Elves, the people of the old world didn’t have the same principles to follow under God. They grew in hate because of their greed, because of how the idea that if God was able to nurture them to this point, it was believed that maybe they were destined to be more than what they were. While the elves simply lived by God’s commandment and love, they grew in peace and respect for God’s work…but for the other planet, it wasn’t as delicate or similar in any point at all.
The two worlds were separate and opposite, that was a fact.
In the greed that came from wanting everything, from the idea that they were God’s favorite, the Demons discovered planets with life…planets created under God’s will, one of those planets was from the Elves.
From this discovery, their greed grew into wanting to conquer the World filled with Elves. To them, as long as their powers grew in anyway possible, they would one day conquer God and his heaven.
So off they went. They created a path that went from their own planet to the elves…and with it, a war was made from a planet against another planet.
Just like the war in the world of Atlanta 30 years ago, the Demons traversed through a gate that made it possible for them to rage on wars, to spread chaos.
But unlike in the world of Atlanta, the World of the Elves failed to defend themselves against the Demons. They were too peace loving. At first they tried forming talks to see if there was a way to settle it in a manner that wouldn’t lead to a war…but that kind of option was never a choice for the Demons. In the end, war was inevitable. They attacked the Elves mercilessly and killed over 80% of the Elf population.
What was left was made into slaves that would further support the Demons in their conquest to further gain enough strength to go against god.
In time, when they thought that they could finally go against God, they marched towards the land where it would lead to Heaven’s way…but Atlanta came and disrupted their path. She made a wall that simply stopped any mortal to pass through. But in return, she was murdered by those humans and her head was thrown in the pits of hell. From here, God abandoned this world. Even as it was reaching its brink of collapse, God did not turn his eyes towards them because of their sin.
And in time, the People of the Old world grew to hate god even more…
As time passed, and when the time came when the Demons discovered a newly formed world of Atlanta, they quickly made the decision to take action and conquer it, and from this conquest came the forceful support from the enslaved elves.
When the war rage in Atlanta, Elves tried their best in supporting the Demons, but centuries of peace-made principles still remained in their souls. From this war, the Elves were able to take a chance in using this planet to escape the Demons.
In one of the raids, the humans were able to conquer one of the bases of the Demons, and in that base lived a pair of Elves who wished to be free from the Demon’s hand. Seeing their different appearances from that of the Demons, the humans took action and took the pair of elves away from the base and into the human settlements to be investigated.
The Humans used this as an opportunity to find a weakness in the Demon invasion. Through talks and talks of constant interrogation, the Elves were able to explain their history to the humans. And from it, along came the weakness that the Elves were able to uncover through years of hardship and working for the Demons.
And with the information given, the two were given a place of protection…
But seeing the danger back then, if they were discovered by the Demons, they would have been killed for leaking information.
So ten years passed and the Elves were kept a secret…until finally, they were set free and far from the war. Or so it seemed.
The Elves decided to hide…
And they decided to live as one with the humans.
Both elves fell in love with different humans, and with it, they continued to live in secret to this day…
Now, in the City of Diamond Reef, one of those Elves created a family with Elvish blood flowing in their veins.
That family was the Millers.
Miles and Juel Miller carries the blood of the Elves.
And in this story, Miles who was supposedly dead in the original story, is now integral in creating the right path for this story.
And from this point of the story, history leads back to the academy where it focuses on the idea of a system called [Interim Guild Factions] a form of activity that is based off of creating a temporary guild around each section of the first year students, and in it, they compete to claim the first place position.
From these temporary guilds, an objective is made each week to be completed. Either by combat of test of intelligence, the guild must rack up points to secure their place in the ranks. And for each guild, it must contain five members.
The reason why it is so limited is because of the fact that it helps in limiting the count of who is participating. Because of the last year’s riot accident pertaining to some troubling guilds fighting against one another, the academy was able to issue this rule into the game. It limits the incident and the problems.
That is why it is voted who gets to participate in the Guild wars.
From there on, activities focusing on the Interim Guilds went on and on…until finally it comes across an activity for the guild surrounding a dungeon. And from this dungeon, leads a portal leading into the discovery of a portal leading into the world of the Elves.
A world that was left in ruin.
The Demons had abandon the world of the elves due to its nearing end. It has been exhausted of all of its resources…
From this information, I know that the Demon’s world is left in the same situation. Both the Elf world and the Demon’s world are nothing but ruins…but that was all that was said. Nothing else about the Demon’s location of sort was noted in the book…reading this, I worry where they are now currently situated.
Once from a rich land with green and gold, now left as dark and filthy world with smoke and smug and dust. From this line alone, Elves no longer had a place to call home.
From here, Jason lead a group into exploring the world to find a way to escape it since they were forcibly brought into this world…it took them weeks of trying to find a way, and in it, they did…
This was how the story went…this is how it will go.
It took me an entire night to finish reading the book…and from it, I was instantly granted the completion of this simple errand of a mission. Along with it, the book on my hands started to shatter into shards of magical glass which soon turned into dust that scattered in the air.

[Extra Reward: Due to having to move on with the second volume of the story, the System Point Store will also be updated to accommodate to the story.]
‘…What?’ having to read the [extra reward process], I was shocked and curious.
Being a curious dandy, I opened the system point store and checked what was new in store.

Seeing the new choices, I was amazed by the new sets of armor and weapons…and most of all, as I looked into the three categories of items that seemed different from the rest, I had a hint of realization that these items might used in the future.
‘…Hm, I can see why I should buy the scroll and the totem…but as for the elixir, I’m scared of what that would imply.’ I thought to myself as the idea f death came to mind.
Next on, I looked into my profile.
As I looked in to my profile, I was proud to see the progress of my own growth.

After this, another mission was set upon me.
[Mission #6: Join the Interim Guild Faction of your own class.]
[Reward: Progression towards the next mission & 5+ System points.]
[Failure: Failure to Join Will Cause the Certain Death of Jessica Young and Audrey Yagami.]
[Time Limit: On the Day of Choosing.]
And as how it was written, I can see why it pointed out the obvious. But apart from that, as I saw the failure note, I was shocked to find such a punishment be made.
“…Are you kidding me??”
Seeing this, I had to turn off the system off as it left me rather uncomfortable.
“…What the hell.”
The words of Jessica and Audrey’s death left me sweating cold at that night. I had to everything I can to secure my place in that guild activity.
From what I know…the day of the choosing for the Interim Guilds Faction won’t happen after the midterms.
The Midterms hasn’t happened yet so I have to deal with that first. The date for the midterm is already close by so I have to do my best. From my current record of grades, I know I did well enough to get a good grade…
But I have to be prepared for anything.
***
*The Day after the Midterm Exams*
After I took the exam, I was very confident in both in magic and the Physical activities.
As for the rest, I’ve done well enough for the written exam since it was mostly similar back in my past life math wasn’t as hard and as for subjects like history and what-not, I relied on my notes.
While in the subject of Alchemy, I was not so good in handling the potions. But I do know that a certain Zelisha probably aced that exam.
Anyway…it was finally time to get our grades….and from these grades, our ranks were also published for everyone to see.
Everyone was shocked to see the current placements of each student. Especially me who grew from being in 10th place last time to being in 4th place now.
While Jessica who was once in the 8th place, is now put in the 7th place. Both of us grew quite a lot to be placed this high.
The rest of the characters didn’t change so much other than Jason going further than Jessabelle. It showed just how much he’s grown.
this was the list of the top 10 students in the Overall rankings.
- Audrey Yagami [Class A]
2. Jason Emory [Class A]
3. Jessabelle Morrison [Class A]
4. Soril Remus [Class C]
5. John Bishop [Class B]
6. Conner O’niel [Class B]
7. Jessica Young [Class C]
8. Robert Oliver [Class B]
9. Oliver Craker [Class D]
10. Rudy Tumble [Class D]
“Hmm, I can’t believe I rose this high up.” I said as I stood in front of the board.
“Me too, I grew from being in 8th place to now being in 7th place.” said Jessica as she sounded relieved.
“Nice, but seeing as how you’re competition is against John and Conner, I don’t think its going to be easy to rise up against them.” I said as I was worried about those two’s name.
“Well, all we can do is try. Anyway, wanna head out and eat?” she said as she carried with her a basket filled with the lunch she prepared for today’s recess.
“Sure, I’ll just go and get my bag from the class, I’ll be right back.” as I left to get my bag, when I returned, I noticed that a single student was confronting Jessica in the halls.
“Hmm?” being curious, I approached them. As I walked, I could hear one of them complaining with an irritated voice.

“Well, don’t be so smug for long you bitch. Now tell me, how did you guys cheat in that exam!” said a rowdy kid that had his hair slick back like a delinquent. From his medium height of posture and a rather egoistic personality, I would say that he was the typical bully found in some romcom stories.
“Leave me alone Robert, if you think I got to overtake your rank because of some fluke, you got another thing coming.” said Jessica as she glared at the kid with the annoying personality.
“Oy oy oy! Don’t be smug, do you think I’m not afraid to hit a woman! Huh!?” he said as he brought out his fist, ready to smack Jessica.
But before he could, All of a sudden, he was raised from the ground by his collar.
“Wha-” he was shocked by this and tried to get down. Having to abandon his school uniform by slipping off, he quickly turned around to see who it was that pulled him by his collar.
“!?” but as he did, all he was met with was the cold glare of Soril Remus standing menacingly.
“What are you doing?” asked Soril in a rather threatening voice.
“Who are–…Y-you must be Soril Remus.” said Robert as he quickly recognized who this person was.
From a single look alone, other than his tall height, his presence wasn’t really something to comment about. But something about his mere presence made him nervous…although he felt like he could attack him, something about his instincts told him to not be reckless around the guy in front of him.
“…Soril, you’re back.” said Jessica as she looked relieved to find him there.
“I got my bag, so tell me, what’s going on here? Who is this bastard?” he asked as he threw away Robert’s uniform to the ground.
“Oh, he’s no one, lets just go and have our lunch.” said Jessica as she was getting annoyed by
“-Oy! Don’t ignore me you bitch!” said Robert as he quickly turned to Jessica to strike her for a surprise attack, but in his efforts, he was quickly countered by a kick to the chin.
*Thud* *ghk*
As he fell unconscious on the floor, Jessica was somewhat proud by her counter attack.
“Hmph, lets get going then.” said Jessica as she happily made her way to the roof of the school. The best place to eat.
“So what happened there?” asked Soril as they walked.
“It was about the Rank results, he got mad that I overtook his place from being 7th place.” said Jessica.
“Really? Hmm, should I be worried too?” asked Soril as they walked into the roof of the school.
From here, it was only the two of them who came to eat here. Usually it would involve all their other classmates, but Jessica asked them not to come today for a particular reason in mind.
“I think the only one you should look out for is Conner O’niel from Class-B. He’s pretty petty about stuff like rank and hierarchy, just like how Robert was.”
“Hmm, I just hope he doesn’t take notice of me.” said Soril.
“That’s impossible. Because you rose from being the 10th ranker all the way up to being the 4th ranker, a lot of eyes are on you right now. And not just that, but because you were able to beat Jessabelle Morrison from before, a lot of the seniors and teachers are intrigued by what you do. From now on, you should expect a lot of letters making their way to you…but thankfully I handled them.” said Jessica proudly.
“…Letters?” asked Soril.
“Oh, um you know…letters from teachers about having to talk to you about personal matters, from Seniors who wanted to invite you into their clubs and stuff. Even some love letters from girls from other classes.” she said.
“How come I’ve never noticed this before?”
“Because I asked someone to deal with it before hand.” she said.
“Eh?”
“Oh don’t be so worried. And besides, are you really that curious about those Love Letters? Huh!?” she said in her unusually jealous and threatening voice.
“.…Umm, no.”
“Anyway, you already have me. You don’t need some other woman poking you on your sides! That’s my job!” She said ever so proudly.
“.…”
“Anyway, lets have some lunch together.” she said.
“O-okay…”
As they ate, it was time for Jessica to say her reasons for wanting to eat here with just the two of them.
“By the way…I wanted to ask what your plans were on the break? Since the midterms is over, we have about two weeks of a break after this week.” she said.
“Hmm, I don’t really have much to do on the break, maybe I’ll try and go travel or maybe go to a beach…why?” asked Soril.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I haven’t really gone out much in the city…so maybe I’ll go to a beach, and maybe you can come with me.” he said as he invited.
“…Well, I’d love to Soril…actually, since you brought up the idea of a beach, it’s actually a perfect time for us.” she said.
“Hmm? What do you mean?”
“My brother is actually inviting us to Barcili.”
“…Barcili?” asked Soril.
“Yeah, it’s an island off north of the city, its quite a beautiful place filled with white sand and clear waters…it’s the perfect place to relax.” she said.
“Why is your brother inviting me to Barcili? I haven’t even met him yet.” said Soril.
“That’s the thing…I wanted you to come since I think its time I introduce you to my family. I’m pretty sure my mother already knows about our relationship, but I want to formally introduce you to my father as well. He likes you and I want to make it official that he accepts you, along with my brothers.” she said.
“…W-wow, this is…a big step.” said Soril as he was quite taken aback by her request.
“…I know, but I want to slowly let the world know that your mine…and I’m yours.” as she said this she leaned in on Soril with a rather seductive gaze, and in it, she caressed his face.
“Okay…I’ll go.” he said as he was convinced by her charms.
“Really?”
“Yeah I think it’ll be fun. I’m your boyfriend, so its only natural that I meet with your family. ”
“Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!” she said as she jumped on him and gave him a big strong embrace.
“Ooff-, O-okay, how many days are we staying there?” asked Soril.
“About a week, that’s plenty of time for you to get to know my brothers. You will love them, although they aren’t as physically active as I am, their pretty smart. After all, they go to a university.” said Jessica.
“Hmm, I’m looking forward to it.”
