Chapter 09: The Hero of [Resurrection] Scatters the Kingdom’s Soldiers
Passing through the magic circle, we emerged atop what seemed to be a tall mountain.
Below us stretched an endless sea of green forest.
I froze, completely lost in this unfamiliar landscape.
“Zona, where are we?”
“This is the continent’s center. Naturally, if the King is to build his capital, it must be at the very heart of the world.”
“…A capital, huh. So this really is the continent’s center.”
That… was a problem.
I was hopeless with geography, so being told “center of the continent” didn’t help me figure out our exact location at all.
“When you’re in trouble, leave it to me—the Hero of [Library]!!”
“Whoa—Imuru!?”
“It’s been thousands of years since I last saw the surface!! I couldn’t resist sneaking out to have a peek!!”
I glanced back at the magic circle connecting to the abyss—
And sure enough, dozens of heroes were pouring out one after another.
“Yoo-hoo! Finally, fresh air again!!”
“Doesn’t look all that different from when I was alive.”
“Of course not. A few hundred years isn’t long enough to change everything.”
“Whoa, what’s that bird!? That species didn’t exist in my era!!”
“Pfft, you just didn’t notice it back then.”
Honestly, I understood the urge. After all that time underground, I wanted to bask in the sunlight too.
But still—
“There are too many of you!!”
“Well, they’re all heroes, after all. And considering more than eighty percent of them are anti-Kingdom, I’d say we’re looking at quite the large-scale rebellion here.”
By the way, the remaining twenty percent of heroes belonged to the “forget revenge, live for hobbies” faction.
That included the Hero of [Field], the Hero of [Sleep], and the Hero of [Castle].
Which meant—almost every other hero was dead set on taking revenge against the Kingdom.
When I thought about it like that, yeah… this really was a massive-scale problem.
…But I digress.
“Our current location should be around here.”
Imuru pulled out a world map using her [Library] ability.
…Hmm.
“Right near the border of the Ixion Kingdom.”
“As far as staging grounds go, not a bad spot to launch an assault on the Kingdom.”
“Yeah, but being this close to the border also means we could get attacked first. That’s a little scary.”
“Nuhahaha!! You seem to be forgetting that each combat-type hero here is worth a thousand men!!”
“Ah… right, that’s true.”
After all, to defeat the Wicked Dragon, every battle-oriented hero had cut down hordes of monsters in the abyss, honing their powers to the extreme.
We were strong now.
Even me—who wasn’t really combat-oriented—could probably handle a swarm of Demon Lords charging all at once.
At that point, Zona calmly added:
“My King. This entire area is covered by a barrier set by the goddess herself, to conceal the magic circle. No humans can approach this place.”
“Oh, is that so?”
So basically… no one would stumble across us here.
“Suuuu—haaaahhh—”
“Elott?”
“I’M FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!”
“““““!?”””””
My sudden shout made all the heroes flinch.
The beastmen especially, with their sharp hearing—like Meimei, the cat-eared Hero, who turned red with irritation and jabbed me hard in the ribs.
“You’re so damn loud!!”
“Gah—ouch.”
“What’s with you all of a sudden?”
“I just… felt like yelling. Like, ‘Ha! I didn’t die the way the Kingdom wanted me to!’”
“…Tch. Whatever.”
Meimei turned away with a tsundere little flick of her head—when suddenly, her ears twitched upright.
“Elott, I hear screaming.”
“Screaming…? Let’s check it out. Silesta.”
“You called, Mister?”
I asked Silesta to come with me.
Moving as one big group would only draw too much attention, so I had the rest of the heroes—except Silesta, Meimei, and Zona—return to the abyss for now.
Following Meimei’s lead, we headed toward the source of the screams.
Along the way, Silesta asked:
“Hey, Mister. There might be people from the Ixion Kingdom who recognize you. Are you sure you don’t want to hide your face?”
“No. I want them to know I’m back.”
If the Kingdom learned I was alive, they’d probably lose their minds.
Then again… maybe they’d just brush it off, call me a fake, and refuse to acknowledge it.
As I mulled over how best to take revenge on the Kingdom, we followed Meimei’s sharp ears toward the source of the screams.
Before long, we arrived at a small settlement.
From the looks of it, it was a village of cat beastmen, like Meimei.
And then—
“Mister, beastmen village. They’re under attack by soldiers.”
“…Those are Kingdom troops.”
The soldiers assaulting the beastmen wore the hated insignia of the Ixion Kingdom on their armor and helmets.
I didn’t know the details, but one thing was clear—
These soldiers were butchering terrified beastmen while laughing about it.
So this was the Ixion Kingdom’s way? Crushing the weak for sport?
Back when they sicced monsters on my hometown, had they been laughing just like this?
…No. I could think about that later.
“For now, every last Kingdom soldier dies.”
I sprinted forward, bursting in front of a soldier just as he was about to cut down a beastman woman.
The soldier’s eyes went wide.
“W-Who the hell are you!? Those golden eyes—no way, you can’t be—”
“Shut up. Die.”
“Ah—”
I drove my fist straight through the soldier’s torso, punching a hole clean through.
Compared to Silesta, Rocoro, or Iltar, I was still a weak hero.
But after countless rounds of “growth” in the abyss, my physical abilities were dozens of times greater than any normal human.
Piercing through the iron armor of a Kingdom soldier was child’s play.
His life ended in an instant.
It was my first time killing a human, and my hands trembled a little…
“…But if I really wanted, I could resurrect him. Honestly, it doesn’t feel as heavy as I thought it would.”
“Eh, ah… guh…”
The soldier, barely clinging to life, looked utterly confused, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
“P-Please… I don’t… want to die…”
“Don’t want to die? That’s a little too convenient, don’t you think?”
“M-Mother… save… me…”
…Hmph.
Once I was sure he had died, I yanked my arm free and turned to the beastman woman he had been attacking.
“Are you hurt?”
“Ah—n-no, I-I’m fine.”
“Good. Please find somewhere to hide for now. We’ll wipe out the rest of the soldiers.”
From there, I tore through the Kingdom troops one after another, slaughtering them without hesitation.
Silesta joined in, unleashing merciless [Blade] attacks that cut them down in droves.
It was nothing short of a massacre.
But then—a few of the Kingdom soldiers pulled out something unfamiliar.
A weapon I hadn’t seen before.
Iron tubes.
“Pay for our comrades!! Die!!”
The soldiers shouted, eyes burning with hatred as they glared at us.
Then—sharp cracks echoed through the forest, overlapping again and again.
BANG BANG BANG BANG!!
From the iron tubes, countless metal balls burst forth, raining down like a storm.
One struck me right in the head.
The impact was so brutal I nearly blacked out, but I clenched my teeth and somehow endured.
“Ghh—!”
“M-Mister!!”
“I’m fine!!”
A hero’s body was far tougher than any normal human’s.
Even high-grade blades could barely leave a scratch.
But these weapons… even with that toughness, the sheer force of the impact had almost knocked me unconscious.
Just what had happened on the surface while I was in the abyss, resurrecting heroes and fighting alongside them?
Clueless to my thoughts, the soldiers shouted in panic.
“Why isn’t the gun working!?”
“Shut up and reload!!”
“Keep firing—eventually he’ll die!!”
It seemed those weapons needed time to prepare another shot.
“Silesta!!”
“Mm, leave it to me.”
Snatching up a sword from a fallen soldier, Silesta swung it—
And in that instant, countless [Blade]s shot out, slicing the troops apart.
The soldiers were torn to shreds, silenced forever.
“Mister, the Kingdom soldiers are wiped out.”
“Hmph! They weren’t much at all!!”
“My King, while you and that silver-haired pervy tomboy were fighting, wasn’t the flat-chested cat twin-tail hiding in the bushes?”
“W-Who are you calling flat-chested cat twin-tail!! I-I’m at least a C leaning toward a B!! Definitely!!”
Meimei’s [Cat] ability excelled at scouting and stealth, so it wasn’t fair to expect her to stand at the front lines.
Still, she was a hero—stronger than any normal human by far.
And so, just like that, we scattered the Kingdom soldiers who had been attacking the beastman village.

[Afterword]
A Random Tidbit
Flat-Chested Cat Twin-Tail (Meimei) is not a “C leaning toward B.”
She’s actually a “B leaning toward A.”
In other words—she’s a wall.
Though she insists there’s still hope for growth, the possibility is zero. Eternal zero.
If “Eternal Zero” made you laugh, smash those ★s!
If you thought, “What the heck is this hobbyist faction!?” “Guns don’t work lmao,” or “B leaning toward A is peak comedy,” —then don’t forget to drop a comment, bookmark, rating, or review!
