Embracing my stalker - Chapter 4- What are we now?
I got Amaye a new pair of glasses after getting her eyes checked.
Once she wore the new pair of glasses, she finally looked comfortable.
I applied a soothing gel to her cheek. The redness was glaring.
‘You will pay for this Yumeko…’
Now, we were in my car, and I was driving her back home.
I glanced at the girl who was nervously sitting beside me.
Don’t know why but I couldn’t stop smiling at all…to see her alive and well beside me.
“Umm…is there anything on my face?”
Crap…she noticed.
“Sorry about that.” I apologized before adding, “By the way, why don’t you fight back when they torment you?” I changed the topic.
She looked down, “…I don’t want to draw attention to myself so I keep myself away from their path. You might not know but I am here on scholarship-”
“I know that, Amaye. I haven’t forgotten the conversation we had in the past.” I told her after giving her a long side-glance.
She also looked at me before asking, “Can I ask you something?”
“Yes, please,” I said as I took a turn from the corner and approached the community lane.
She fed her address on the map so I didn’t have to ask her.
She took a pause before asking, “Why are you…suddenly noticing me?”
I…was expecting that question.
Of course, she would notice it. Someone who had been merely acquainted with her until now was fighting for her, driving her home…yes, that calls for suspicion.
I didn’t reply to her instantly and first stopped the car near her house.
Resting my wrist on the steering wheel, I looked at the people passing by.
A moment of pause then I asked her, “I know.”
“Hmm?” She hummed in question.
“I know…who you are.” I added, “…you are blaze, no?”
“…!” Her eyes widened, lips parted in shock.
I had to tell her. I couldn’t have made up a lie. Not with her. She is special to me. She is the reason why I am here, back in time.
And I didn’t want to start this relationship on a lie.
“I know you are Blaze. The one who has been by my side all this time. The person who has supported me in my most vulnerable phase. And the person whom I have nearly ignored all these times.”
She seemed to have forgotten how to breathe as she stared at me wide-eyed.
Finally, a soft and hesitant voice seeped through her lips, “H-How..?”
I shrugged, “I was desperate so I asked a few people to track you. Sorry about that.”
Amaye was completely baffled as she covered her mouth and forgot how to speak.
I knew she must be feeling all kinds of emotions, and in nervousness, she tried to open the door and run.
But,
*Ka* *tak* *Ka* *tak*
The door was locked
“Amaye ….look at me,” I asked gently…pleadingly.
“Please once,” I asked again.
I didn’t want our reunion to end on a bitter note.
She paused, stopped trying to escape, and slowly turned towards me.
Her lips were trembling, and her eyes were moist.
My heart melted at the sight. Did I hurt her?
It felt like I had committed a crime and I nearly unlocked the door.
But then, “You don’t hate me?” She asked in a barely audible voice, “That despite being so close to you I never told you about me.”
I wanted to touch her face and wipe her tears.
I wanted to hug her and comfort the girl.
But I held back. I didn’t want to cross my boundaries.
“Amaye…I can never hate you.” Exhaling a sigh, I added, “For what you have done for me, I can never hate you. For being the silent support…All I feel is thankful.”
I looked at her, “Thank you for being there for me, Amaye. It really means a lot.”
“…” She turned silent, now calmed down.
Her shoulders turned loose, as she asked, “Then…what are we now?”
She must be confused.
In real life, we were just acquaintances.
Socially, we are close friends. While she seldom shared anything about her life, I told her everything about myself. About my day-to-day life.
So, she must be confused about the relationship we share now.
I looked at her, right in the eye before telling her, “I want to marry you.”
“…!!!” Her eyes widened far wider this time.
Okay, I think I should take this slow.
