: Ohhh, Mimimi is finally traveling abroad!
: Congrats!
: But seriously, where is Peschel Kingdom? I can’t even find its location in Wiki. LLOL
: You don’t know?
: Do you know?! Reideen!
: I don’t!
: So you don’t know, huh? Lol.
: I really don’t! (Half-angry)
: Why would she go to such an unknown country, lol?
: And she’s just doing a food tour, lol.
: I mean, it’s fine, isn’t it?
: I don’t really get it, but the food looks good.
: She can eat a lot. She could totally do an eating challenge video, lol.
: The Kingdom of Peschel is an island nation in northern Europe (searched on Google Maps).
: I mean, she literally explained it in the video, lol.
: Wow, it’s an actual island nation. Can’t believe such a tiny country exists overseas.
: Whoa, that magic stone vein is insane.
: No, seriously, this is amazing.
: You don’t find magic stone veins this massive very often.
: How did she even find a magic stone vein this incredible? What floor is this?
: “Due to various circumstances, the floor number cannot be disclosed.”
: Wait, can a convenience store golem even make it that deep?
: Also, they have DC Rings even in this rural country?
: Dungeon Convenience Store’s mysterious super technology!
: I’m getting strong Dungeon Oji-san vibes from this.
: Is Oji-san around?
: Oji-san… He traveled abroad with someone else…? Someone that’s not us…?
: Are you jealous now, lol?
: Mimimi and Oji-san… Going on an overseas date?
: P-P-P-Pirroane-sama is obviously there too!
: She’s definitely going to upload a video soon.
: …But she hasn’t.
: We have the right to cry.
: But… Fuu. I shall forgive.
: Fuu… Ahh… I shall forgive.
: She grants us a moment of enlightenment. Fuu.
: Ahh, the moment of awakening. I shall forgive. Fuu.
: Fuu.
: Fuu.
: (Endless “fuu” comments continue below.)
: This place reeks.
: All is forgiven. This is the greatness of Mimimi Amanokawa’s videos. Fuu.
We were filming footage for Mio to use in her channel. After throwing the items we needed for the exploration into the item box and we tackled the dungeon again. Only after we reached the 70s floor that I finally lost sight of the other awakened ones. There, we found a large magic stone vein. And so, we decided to film footage for Mio.
Mio, who had become Mimimi Amanokawa, swung her golden pickaxe happily. This was the moment when her charm was at its peak.
“Gi-gi-gi-gi….”
During the filming, Heaves was grinding their teeth as they watched Mio in action. Because of this, I had to be careful to make sure none of Heaves’ grinding noise got into the footage. Well, pretty sure Heaves’ noise could be heard in the footage, but I could just ask the editing company to remove it.
Also, something else I had to be careful of to avoid getting in the camera’s frame was the robot, Seraphim. Claire was controlling it and Heaves was seated in the supporting seat. The first floors of this dungeon were a bit cramped, but as we went deeper, the space opened up, and there was more room for them to move.
After Seraphim could move freely, we were able to witness its true prowess. Although it had lost the sword, it had been equipped with other weaponry. Claire had procured a stake gatling that shot magic-enchanted stakes from its back. They had also installed a heat knife as a close-combat weapon.
The stake gatling was quite powerful, but since it had limited ammo, it couldn’t be used carelessly. Hence why, Claire had to use the heat knife most of the time during battle.
Compared to that sword, the attack power of the heat knife was significantly weaker, but still. Up until around the 30s floor, Seraphim could fight with ease. It was only after we reached the 40s floor that the fight became harder and by the time we entered the 50s floor, the heat knife was no longer effective as a weapon.
At this point, we had to rely on the stake gatling to overwhelm the enemies, but we would run out of ammunition soon. Apparently, when Claire and Heave tried to explore the dungeon on their own, they had to give up after they reached the 20s floor.
“Of course, there was also the interference of other awakened ones along the way.”
Claire muttered, looking as if she couldn’t believe they could reach this deep. She was wearing a mask, where only the mouth part looked like a gas mask. Maybe it was a half gas mask? Or something like that?
For those who were not awakened, the air inside the dungeon was harmful due to its high magic density. For that reason, Claire had to frequently replace the filter in that mask and sometimes drink medicine to dissipate the magic that accumulated in her body.
Claire had to control the robot to fight the dungeon monsters while being mindful of her own condition. To be honest, I couldn’t understand it. Sure, I was amazed by Heaves’ talent. They were able to create a robot that allowed ordinary person to be able to fight dungeon monsters and stand on equal ground against awakened ones, but… I couldn’t understand why Claire had to push herself this hard.
“She’s amazing, isn’t she?”
Claire said as she stared at Mio, who had finished digging up the magic stone vein and was happily giving the ending greeting in front of the camera. Judging from Claire’s side profile, I could tell she was genuinely praising her.
“She looks like someone who has accomplished something impressive. I’m jealous of her.”
“Aren’t you doing something impressive yourself?”
Hadn’t she been active in environmental protection or something like that?
“That kind of thing… No, what I’ve done might have been helpful, but to me, it was just a way to pass the time. I was only doing it because my fellow patients invited me.”
“Fellow patients? Did you have a disease or something?”
“Fellow sufferers, as they say in a Japanese proverb. The rich people’s disease.”
“The rich people’s disease… That’s something completely foreign to me..”
“I knew you wouldn’t understand. This disease isn’t something you’d have when you rise to the top. It’s a disease that the children of those who rise to the top have.”
“There’s a disease like that?”
“You don’t understand, do you? A life where you’re promised you’ll never have to suffer for lack of money, from the day you’re born to the day you die.”
“Well, I don’t understand that, no.”
“And the children of someone with great father. No matter what I do, I will always be compared to him. ‘As expected from his daughter.’ ‘If she’s his daughter, she should be able to do this.’ ‘How come she can’t even do this even though she’s his daughter?’ ‘She’s his daughter.’ ‘She’s his daughter.’ ‘She’s his daughter.’ It’s just exhausting!”
“I see.”
“But no matter what I do, I can’t escape from my father’s wealth. Even if I tried running away, no matter what I did, I was immediately followed by bodyguards the moment I left home. In fact, I once seriously tried to convince my parents to let me live alone. I worked as a waitress and got tips. It was my first time doing something like that, and it was fun. Now… What do you think happened to me during that time?”
“…I have no idea?”
“One week later, I was kidnapped. They targeted me for my father’s money. It was the butler who saved me. Since then, he’s been my exclusive butler.”
“That must have been tough.”
“…Everything I said doesn’t affect you in the slightest, huh?”
“Do you need me to pretend to sympathize?”
I had a feeling that Claire didn’t want that kind of sympathy though.
“As you said, I don’t have more thoughts beyond ‘That must have been tough’ regarding your situation. You’re rich, and I’m an ordinary person. Our worlds are different, so I can’t sympathize. It’s more accurate to say that I can’t sympathize. There’s nothing I can relate to in your situation.”
When I watch foreign dramas, there were times when I couldn’t understand their anger. I also thought foreigners were being obnoxiously loud, but of course that wasn’t the case here. No one could sympathize with someone if we didn’t know anything about them at all. In this world, differences could arise easily, even from something as meaningless as a border. Just by having that border was enough to evoke a sense of disparities. Right now… The fact that I was actually a dungeon monster shouldn’t change anything much. I couldn’t sympathize with Claire not because I was a dungeon monster, but simply because I didn’t have enough information to be able to sympathize with her.
“I guess you’re right.”
“But still, I can at least guess that you decided to enter the dungeon because it’s harder for your parents’ influence to reach you here? I can deduce that much from your story.”
“You don’t need to deduce that.”
“My apologies.”
“But… Yes. I wanted to become an awakened, but well, I couldn’t. So I teamed up with Heaves and started a company that makes dungeon gear and we made this robot in secret.”
“And that sword… You needed it to complete Seraphim?”
“No. I needed that sword to conquer this dungeon. A dungeon like this… If we let it be, it could become an international ticking bomb. It’s better for the world if this dungeon disappears.”
“I see.”
Indeed. That sword was far stronger than the heat knife, so Seraphim probably needed that knife to venture deeper into the dungeon. But well, that wasn’t their real issue here. After all, there was that thing about this island’s king.
We had to conquer this dungeon, but I wondered whether it would be alright for us to conquer it in the first place?
