Pirone actually gave me all the magic stones. At first, I thought she might try to keep some for herself, but she didn’t. I was quite surprised. Well, it seemed she was the type to keep her end of the bargain at least.
“And so! Next, we’re going to sell this!”
Since the Western-style izakaya we had gone to last time was full, we opted for a private-room type izakaya instead. Pirone suddenly slammed something onto the table. It was a sword, a drop item from a dungeon.
“Whoa, that looks impressive!”
Mimimi Amanogawa—no, since this was her private time, Mio Ayukawa—looked shocked. But more importantly, I wanted to tell Pirone not to pull out something like that here. The sword would scratch the table. Not to mention, the drinks that had just arrived spilled.
My beer!
“If we sell this, don’t you think we’ll make some good money?!”
“Probably. But first, clean this up.”
Before a waiter could come over, I made her put it away. Ah, it looked like the table got scratched after all. Might as well fix it real quick.
“So, why do you need money?”
Honestly, just taking on the Ministry of Dungeons’ requests for immediate dungeon raids should be more than enough to cover daily expenses. No, actually, it was more than enough.
“Are you planning to move out or something?”
“Huh?! Are you?! I’m going to be so sad!”
“Take care and don’t forget to keep in touch.”
“That’s not it!”
So, it wasn’t that. Since she seemed to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle, I figured she wanted to move out of that apartment as soon as possible.
“I wouldn’t leave Mio behind! If I move, I’ll take you with me!”
“Pirone-san!”
The two of them hugged tightly. Meanwhile, I just watched them and drank my beer from the sideline. Pirone had really grown attached to Mio. Even though Mio struggled with communication issues, she might actually have a naturally charming personality. Well, this charm of hers must be one of her strengths that she didn’t notice.
“I do plan to think about that eventually, but first, I want to hire someone.”
“Someone?”
Pirone pulled away from the hug and got back on topic.
“Someone to edit videos and while we’re at it, they can edit Mio’s videos too.”
“Eh? Are you sure?”
“Of course!”
“Yay!”
“But, there’s one problem.”
“Huh?!”
“I have no idea how to sell this.”
Mio was genuinely shocked, and I kind of wanted an apology for that. Still, where to sell it, huh? There had to be a place, but I hadn’t really thought about it.
“Well, if you want to sell it, you could go to a specialty store for Awakened, but an online auction would probably be the easiest option.”
“An online auction?”
“The Awakened-only online auction, ‘D-Auction,’ is limited to affiliated nations, but it allows for the buying and selling of weapons and armor. Since the online auction is being overseen by the government, there’s no risk of fraud.”
“Oh, that sounds great! Let’s go with that. Problem solved!”
“…Do you even know how to use it?”
“Hahaha! Jiro, I’ll leave it to you!”
“Knew it.”
I saw that coming.
“I’ll make sure you get a fair share.”
“Your only redeeming quality is that you’re not stingy.”
Between the magic stone incident in the dungeon and now, she did have a sense of giving proper compensation for work done by others.
“And yet, why were you so stingy about costs before?”
“Because they said cutting costs is amazing!”
“So, blindly believing whatever people say is your flaw, huh?”
“Hahaha! That just means Pirone-san is an honest and good person.”
“Mio, I love you!”
“I love you too, Pirone-san!”
“I’ve only had one drink, though…”
While the two of them acted like drunkards, I let out a sigh, finished my first beer, and impatiently waited for the slow-to-arrive food.
And so, the next day…. The three of us went out together to list the item on the online auction. Since we were dealing with weapons, we couldn’t handle everything through a smartphone like in civilian transactions. We had to go to the proper facility, which turned out to be the Ministry of Dungeons—D-Ministry. I had assumed it would be handled by the police since it involved weapons, but apparently not.
“If it’s related to Awakened, it falls under the jurisdiction of the D-Ministry.”
“I see, so they’ve streamlined the process into a single location.”
“Minister Niitaka said he wants it to be a convenience store for Awakened.”
In this case, “convenience store” didn’t mean 24-hour service, but rather a centralized place for payments, ATMs, and similar services.
“None of that matters! Let’s just go.”
As expected, Pirone ignored the discussion and marched toward the D-Ministry straight on. But we weren’t going into the ministry itself. Instead, we entered a small building next to it, where we used magic appraisal tools to register the basic information for listing the item. After that, a specialist in production-type Awakened would assess it before the item could be officially put up for sale.
“This is quite an incredible item. Which dungeon did it come from?”
“Hmm… I was just cleaning out my inventory, so I don’t really remember.”
Even Pirone wasn’t reckless enough to say it came from a certain European dungeon, so she played it off.
“I see. Then we’ll mark the originating dungeon as unknown. Is that alright?”
“That’s fine.”
And with that, the process was complete. However, that weapon would soon stir up a bit of a commotion in the future.
