Summary
A modern fantasy about a man who kept working hard even in a world with a 1:99 male-to-female ratio!
In the year 2000, mysterious “holes” suddenly appeared all over the world. Passing through one of these holes led to a “dungeon,” infested with monsters that preyed on humans. Within these dungeons, and even inside the monsters’ bodies, people discovered stones known as magic stones. These became a newly valued energy resource.
Furthermore, the connection to the dungeons granted people magical power, allowing them to use “magic.” But at the same time, a strange disease spread—one that caused the deaths of men.
On top of that, for reasons unknown, the male birthrate plummeted drastically, and by the year 2030, the world had become one where the gender ratio was 1 man to 99 women. In such a modern society, values around chastity had all but reversed, and men were treated as precious beings:
“Men are special, and must be protected. Women must strive to be strong, kind, and beautiful, so that they may protect men and be chosen by them.”
Polygamy was officially recognized, and being chosen as one of a man’s wives was considered an honor. As a result, most men, enjoying the privileges granted to them by laws and institutions, spent their days in laziness.
The protagonist, Ittou Itsukushima, came from a village on the verge of depopulation to live with his aunt. Raised in a special environment, he had grown up under the teachings of his grandmother.
“Women are to be protected, and men must continue to strive to be strong, kind, and resilient.”
Through constant effort, he carried this lesson with him, and with the mission of “finding a wife,” he moved to the city and transferred to a prestigious metropolitan co-ed high school. But when this exceedingly rare, hard-working man decided to stream his dungeon expeditions as part of his “wife-hunting,” the entire world was thrown into an uproar!
In a world where the male-to-female ratio was 1:99 and chastity values had been reversed, this clueless high school boy, who knew nothing when he arrived, kept striving to be popular. He dove into dungeons, and, without even realizing it, bewitched women one after another—thus setting in motion a modern fantasy harem story!
