Dungeon And Slave: The Lustful and Violent Slave Harem of the Guard and Students Chosen as Testers for the Succubus Dungeon - Chapter 60: Requiem
Chapter 60: Requiem
Tester Life, Day 24, My Room, Sanada Yagumo
Parting with Sonoda, I head to My Room.
Opening the door, Sayaka in her school uniform and Sheena in her maid outfit greet me.
“Welcome back, Master.”
“I’m back. Got something to do, so wait in the living room.”
I take off my shoes, tell them, and head to the bedroom.
I strip the sheets from the bed, stop by the fridge and service room, then return to the entrance to put my shoes back on.
Sayaka, following me, speaks up.
“Um… did something happen?”
“Yeah… a 3rd-year baseball player, Noda, got his neck torn by a monster protecting his team.”
“!? No… Noda-senpai…”
“You knew him?”
“…Yes. A little.”
“I see.”
Seems she knew him. I thought they wouldn’t, being in different years.
“Um! Are you… going to Noda-senpai now?”
“Yeah, gonna give him a proper send-off.”
“I see… Can I come too? I want to say goodbye.”
“…Alright. Come with me.”
At my words, Sayaka puts on her shoes.
I head back to the crowd.
“Make way.”
I call out to the students surrounding the body, parting them.
Without Sayaka, I’d shove through like before, but with her, I keep it civil.
The students I address flinch at my face, then freeze seeing Sayaka.
We walk through the path they clear.
“!? Sen…pai… no… that’s awful…”
Reaching Noda’s body, Sayaka covers her mouth, speechless at the gruesome damage.
I pat her shoulder and approach the body.
Matsuki, still clinging to the body, sobs apologies endlessly.
It pisses me off.
I place a hand on Matsuki’s shoulder from behind and yank him off the body.
“!? W-What the hell!?”
Injured in one arm, Matsuki tumbles back but scrambles up, yelling at me.
“Shut up. How long you gonna leave the body on display?”
“Display…?”
My words make Matsuki notice the crowd for the first time, his red, swollen eyes widening in shock.
“A warrior deserves a warrior’s funeral. Stop shaming him with this spectacle.”
Ignoring Matsuki’s stunned look, I start removing Noda’s leather armor and blazer.
Sayaka, tears in her eyes, helps despite bloodying her hands.
Probably her first time seeing a corpse… kind and strong girl.
We strip the armor and blazer, leaving the body in a blood-soaked shirt and pants.
I wrap it in the white sheet I brought and place the blazer over it.
“We honor the warrior. Baseball team, follow me.”
I lift the body in my arms, say only that, and head to the dungeon entrance.
The surrounding students naturally part, and Sayaka and I pass through.
Entering the dungeon, I tell Sayaka to stay close and head to the transfer room.
Soon, baseball team members and their coach rush up, surrounding Sayaka and me protectively.
Among them are Matsuki, some with arms in slings, others limping.
They grip shields and bats, eyes red, wide open to hold back tears, scanning for threats.
I wish they’d stop—Sayaka’s scared by their crazed looks.
Horn Rabbits near the entrance? I could one-shot them even with my arms full.
But I get their feelings, so I stay quiet and let them guard us.
After a few minutes, we reach the automatic rock wall door and enter the transfer room. I place the body a few meters from the door.
From my Magic Pouch, I pull candles and a lighter from the service room, light them, drip wax to fix them to the floor.
I offer sports drinks and soda from the fridge, kneel on one knee, and speak.
“Warrior, brave warrior who threw himself into battle for justice. He sacrificed not for fame or gold, but for his comrades. Warrior, true brave warrior. We swear to never forget your courage and devotion, to carry it forward. Descansa en paz, hijo de Dios (Rest in peace, child of God).”
I bow my head and make the sign of the cross.
“Ugh… sob… it’s my fault… I fell, so Vice-Captain… sorry… it hurt, didn’t it… sorry.”
“Noda… if I’d watched better… damn it… I couldn’t protect my team… as captain… ugh… I…”
“S-Sorry… senpai, sorry… we were weak… we called for help…”
“Sorry… I’m the coach, an adult, and I… sorry, Noda…”
Standing and turning, I see over 40 baseball players and their coach crying.
I sigh inwardly and pick up the blazer from the body.
I hand it to Matsuki, crying at the front.
“No amount of apologies will earn a dead man’s forgiveness. Don’t apologize or cry—get strong so you never lose another comrade. Survive this dungeon and give this blazer to his family. That’s the only atonement the living can offer.”
“!? I… I’ll… I’ll definitely deliver it.”
Matsuki, clenching his teeth, takes the blazer, looks up, and holds back tears.
He’ll fight again.
“There aren’t enough candles for everyone, but I’ll leave some. Say your goodbyes and move on. Otherwise, one of you will be lying here tomorrow.”
I turn to Sayaka beside me.
“Sayaka, say your goodbye.”
“…Yes.”
Tears streaming, Sayaka nods, kneels before the body, lights a candle, and clasps her hands.
After her farewell, I put an arm around her waist, and we head to the exit.
“Sanada-san!”
As the rock wall door opens, the coach’s voice stops me, and I half-turn.
“Thank you for honoring my student!”
“Thank you!”
The coach and all the players bow, thanking me.
“Don’t mention it. I did it on my own.”
I say only that, pass through the open rock wall, and leave the transfer room.
A brave warrior deserves a fitting funeral.
Maybe because it was routine on the battlefield, I couldn’t stand a brave fighter being gawked at by a crowd.
That’s all.
Leaving the dungeon, I cross the Great Plaza, still heavy with gloom, and return to My Room. Sayaka clings to me, sobbing loudly.
I gently stroke her head, waiting for her to calm.
After a few minutes, she pulls her face from my chest.
“You okay?”
“Yes… thank you.”
“No problem. Shame about Noda.”
“Yes… we weren’t that close, but I remembered when he confessed to me in spring… I held it in until we got here, but…”
“…I see.”
Whoa, not just acquaintances—he confessed to her?
Damn, that sheet… it was clean, but it’s got crusty patches from me, Sayaka, and Sheena’s fluids.
I wrapped a guy who loved Sayaka in that.
Did I just pull a massive NTR flex on a dead guy?
…Whatever, he’s dead anyway.
Gotta comfort Sayaka with some sex.
Sheena and I need to drown her grief in pleasure!
That night, Sayaka’s moans, a requiem for the man who once loved her, echo through the room.
Forever.
Forever.
