Chapter 33: Extravagant Rewards
I place my hands on the lids of the treasure chest and the small box.
Just in case, I’m wary of traps from the pearl-colored small box, opening it from behind.
I open both simultaneously, relieved to find no traps, and peer inside.
“A bracelet and a pouch?”
The silver treasure chest, despite its size, contains only a single silver bracelet. The pearl-colored small box holds a leather pouch that fills its interior.
“A red stone… could this bracelet be a Strength Bracelet?”
Seeing a small red stone embedded in the silver bracelet, I recall an item I saw in the shop.
I’d planned to buy it eventually, but at 100,000 DP, I thought it’d be much later.
“I think it boosts strength by 1.5 times.”
It’s a bit big, but I try it on my left wrist. The loose bracelet shrinks to fit my wrist perfectly.
“Whoa… that’s cool.”
A magic item, huh?
Impressed by what I’d call an auto-resize function, I draw my machete from my waist.
“It’s light. My strength’s definitely increased. This is a great find.”
Grinning at acquiring a combat-useful item, I take the pouch from the small box and examine it.
“It looks like a normal pouch…”
But a pouch in a fancy small box can’t be ordinary, right?
“Here’s a thought.”
I take my knife, sheath and all, from my waist and put it into the pouch. It gets sucked inside.
I look into the pouch.
The knife’s gone.
I reach inside, but there’s nothing.
Wondering where it went, I suddenly feel the knife in my hand.
Pulling it out, it’s the same knife I put in.
“A Magic Pouch, as expected!”
I’m so thrilled I could jump for joy at confirming my guess.
It’s said to hold 20 times its apparent size—about a tatami mat’s worth of space.
It’s no exaggeration to say this is the item I wanted most for exploration.
“Giving me a Magic Pouch worth 100,000 DP? Isn’t that a bit too generous?”
Combined with the bracelet, that’s enough to buy a Grade 5 Slave.
A silver chest being a guardian reward makes sense for a 100,000 DP Strength Bracelet.
Copper chests have items or gear worth 30,000 DP, after all.
“Maybe it’s a reward for being the first tester to defeat it?”
When I beat the 1st floor guardian, the magic crystal only announced DP rewards.
Could the 5th floor guardian be special?
That’s possible.
The 5th floor only had the guardian room, and you can’t return without defeating it—a brutal setup.
The wooden door I opened to enter didn’t close, so I could escape, but I still can’t return without beating it.
There’s no transfer circle on this floor. If no one came, you’d starve.
“A special guardian… a boss of floor guardians, so an Area Boss. No, Domain Guardian fits better.”
The pearl-colored small box as a reward for defeating a Domain Guardian first.
That makes sense.
“Whatever the case, I hit the jackpot. This is some serious prof—huh? What’s this?”
In high spirits, I stand to attach the Magic Pouch to my waist and notice a gold-colored paper, about the size of a 10,000-yen bill, left in the pearl-colored small box.
Picking it up, I see a drawing resembling a woman’s uterus.
It looks like the Lust Tattoo you’d see in ero-manga.
I flip it over to check for writing.
What’s written there makes my eyes widen.
“A Grade 1 Slave Exchange Ticket!?”
So I can exchange it for a Grade 1 Slave? One worth 2,000,000 DP?
“No way…”
To think I’d get Tsukigase like this.
But it’s only the 5th floor?
I don’t know how many floors this test dungeon has, but given the monsters’ strength, it’s fair to call this a low floor. Would they normally give a 2,000,000 DP reward here?
And with a 100,000 DP Magic Pouch, too.
It was tough, sure, but only because I’m solo. This reward feels excessive.
Wait a second…
Thinking it over, Slaves are originally female students or teachers kidnapped like us.
From the dungeon’s perspective, they cost nothing, right?
They’re basically free acquisitions.
So, being generous doesn’t hurt the Succubus Queen’s wallet.
“I get it… this is a carrot to motivate testers.”
Defeat the 5th floor guardian, and you get a high-value Slave for free.
Testers who hear that will rush to explore the dungeon and take down this Domain Guardian.
The Succubus Queen, wanting to test Earthlings’ abilities and the prototype dungeon’s performance, would want that.
“Carrot and stick, huh?”
For those who don’t fight, food prices rise as punishment. For those who do, Wall Butts and Slave Exchange Tickets are offered.
The harder you work, the more erotic rewards you get.
With testers’ libido surging alongside their mana, there’s no better incentive.
Very succubus-like, isn’t it?
“It’s my kind of style, though.”
As someone aiming for a Grade 1 Slave, this is a dream reward.
Plus, I might not need to save up for Slaves anymore.
I doubt this kind of reward is a one-time thing.
The Succubus Queen wants the dungeon cleared fast. There’ll likely be regular rewards like this.
Maybe every five floors, like this time.
If so, defeating the Domain Guardian on the 10th floor might get me another Grade 1 Slave.
That’s motivating.
I’m dancing in the Succubus Queen’s palm, but I want a harem of high school girls and female teachers as slaves, so what can I do?
Our goals just happen to align.
Let’s leave it at that.
“Still, what an extravagant reward.”
I mutter, slipping the ticket into the Magic Pouch and shouldering my backpack.
A Strength Bracelet, a Magic Pouch, and topping it off with a Grade 1 Slave Ticket.
“It’s already 7 p.m. I’ll scout the 6th floor a bit, then head back to cash out and buy that Grade 1 Slave.”
My lips curl at the thought of having my way tonight with the girl I think is the academy’s top beauty, my groin hardening as I reach for the black gate.
Opening it, my eyes widen at the sight.
“This… a labyrinth?”
Brick walls, stone-paved paths, and torches placed at regular intervals on the walls.
It’s exactly like the labyrinths you see in manga or games.
“A maze now, huh? Probably traps, too.”
It won’t be like before. I steel myself, sticking my head out the gate to check.
“Phew, it’s there this time.”
Relieved to see a transfer circle five meters to the right of the gate, I pass through cautiously.
“It’s dark.”
The labyrinth’s ceiling, unlike the faintly glowing rock of before, is flat stone with no light.
Instead, the wall-mounted torches at regular intervals illuminate the area.
But they don’t light the whole path, so it’s quite dark except near the torches.
Unlike the caves, where dim light reached the entire path, this is a big change.
“My enhanced physical abilities let me see somewhat in the dark, but… searching for enemies will be tough.”
The difficulty’s spiked. The 5th floor must be a turning point.
That means new monsters will likely appear from the 6th floor.
As I think this, something approaches from deeper in, shouting.
“Gya, gya!”
“Gyagya!”
“…Goblins?”
Lit by a torch about 20 meters ahead, I see two humanoid figures, 140–150 cm tall, with green skin, small horns on their foreheads, and only loincloths. Their faces are somewhat human but with flattened noses and bald heads, hideously ugly.
They’re exactly like the Goblins from manga and anime.
The two Goblins, wielding clubs, charge toward me.
“So, weapon-wielding monsters are standard from this floor?”
A boost in intelligence, maybe.
I draw the Goblins in close, then fire a Fireball between them.
Startled, they leap aside with delayed reactions, but the Fireball, charged with two shots’ worth of mana, explodes widely upon impact.
The Goblins, caught in the scattered sparks, burn over half their bodies and writhe on the ground.
I approach and finish them off with machete thrusts to their chests.
“Not bad reactions… but weak.”
They have clubs, and their strength seems decent, but their speed is slower than Kobolds.
No wonder they’re classified as weak monsters in countless works.
No, I can’t get careless.
Goblins are called weak, but they’re also known for hunting in groups with clubs, swords, bows, and even magic.
Since this is the first floor they appear on, only a few show up at once. But as I progress, their numbers will likely grow. They might wield not just clubs but blades or ranged weapons.
The fact that I encountered two Goblins right away on their debut floor—unlike Horn Rabbits and Kobolds, which started with one—suggests groups of five or six could appear later. I should assume that.
If a group like that had swords, bows, or magic-users and coordinated?
I can’t underestimate them just because they’re weak. Goblins shine when they have numbers and gear, like humans.
Tightening my resolve, I pick up the magic stones left where the Goblins dissolved into black particles.
“This size and color… same as the Kobold Leader’s E-rank stone?”
So, 200 DP each.
Depending on their spawn rate, my income could double. Earning 50,000 DP a day isn’t a dream.
While their numbers are low, they’re tasty prey.
“Hm, that’s enough scouting. Time to head back.”
I’ve learned the 6th floor is labyrinth-like and Goblins are the monsters.
I’ll take my time with the rest after my break.
More importantly, I need to return, cash out, and buy that long-awaited Grade 1 Slave.
Tossing the magic stones into the Magic Pouch, I calm my eager heart and throbbing groin as I head to the transfer circle.
