Chapter 3: Tension
“…Absurd.”
“…Sorry.”
After I succeeded in convincing her, we came home immediately because it was too cold to stay outside. Up to that point, it was fine. But the moment I opened the door to my house, the contents of my room were not something I could show to anyone. As expected, I couldn't bring a beautiful high school girl into such a dirty room, so I asked her to wait outside the room…
“Do you normally keep someone waiting outside your room in the cold for a whole hour?”
“…I’m incredibly sorry.”
I was afraid Shiroyume might get tired of me and leave somewhere in this hour, but I was relieved to see her waiting faithfully.
“Haa…my Master can’t even organize his room properly…”
“Err…are you perhaps mad at me? Also, can you please stop calling me ‘my Master’?”
“I’m not really mad or anything.”
No, Shiroyume definitely looked mad to the point where I wanted to call her out for lying. Well, even so. From Shiroyume’s point of view, she was forcibly brought along to someone’s house and then left waiting outside the room for an entire hour.
“I’m really sorry…”
“Haa…that’s enough. Anyways, your name?”
“Name?”
“I don't know your name.”
Aah, I see. So you didn't remember my name even though we were in the same class for six months. It's true that there was no connection between us, but I'm shocked…
“Kuroshima Kazuya.”
“So you’re Kuroshima-sama.”
“Please stop calling me with ‘-sama’…”
“Then, Kazuya-kun?”
“!? …You’re suddenly calling me by my first name, huh…”
This is the first time since I graduated from kindergarten that I have been called by my first name by the opposite sex. It feels sorta weird…
“You can call me Miyu too.”
“T-that’s…”
Of course, I hadn't called someone of the opposite sex by their first name since I graduated from kindergarten…Frankly speaking, it’s a massive hurdle for me…
“I don’t think I should take on the name of ‘Shiroyume’ after being cast away by my parents. Besides…I don’t want to be called that anymore…”
“…….”
So be it… A family name is an easy way to show your family connections. However, for Shiroyume now, it may be nothing more than a chain around her neck.
“Alright, Miyu. Is that okay?”
“Yes. Thank you, Kazuya-kun.”
S-somehow…it’s embarrassing…Two people facing each other and confirming each other’s names, is this a formal marriage interview or something… I felt like I was in a formal marriage interview, despite being only 16 years old, when I can’t even get married yet.
“Hachoo~”
“Ah, my bad. You should enter the bath quickly.”
I should’ve prepared a bath for her first, since she’s been outside in this terribly cold weather. Even with the heating on, she’ll definitely catch a cold like this.
“Thank you very much…”
She looked down with a slight blush on her cheeks, probably embarrassed that she had been caught sneezing. To be honest, I'd rather you didn't do that…My heart started pounding hard at her reaction.
“Ah, don’t worry about it. More importantly, do you have a change of clothes?”
“……………….”
As she looked up, Miyu started silently staring at me. So, that’s how it is, huh…
“By any chance…you don’t…?”
“That's also true, but my name isn't ‘you’.” [TLN: MC instead of calling her by Miyu, calls her ‘omae’ aka ‘you.]
“Well then, let's go buy some while the bath is getting ready.”
“…………………….”
I can feel a lot of silent pressure but…You’re more concerned about me calling you ‘you’ than not having a change of clothes? [TLN: omae]
“M-Miyu, what should we do?”
“I'll leave it to Kazuya-kun.”
“Then, shall we go shopping?”
“I understand.”
“Hey, Miyu. Isn’t your tone a bit unusual?”
“Please don’t worry about it. I’m just speaking like I normally do.”
“But you’re speaking in honorifics…Miyu, are you perhaps nervous?”
“!?”
Oi oi, please don’t tell me you’re getting nervous now after all this time…I’ll become weirdly conscious.
“I-I mean, I can’t help it… It’s the first time I’m visiting a boy’s house…”
“!?”
Please, I want you to please stop. Don’t say such adorable things suddenly like that… My heart’s been feeling strange for a while now… I brought Miyu to my home because I couldn’t afford to let her die, but looking at how things are, I’m going to be the one dying…
“We're going to buy a change of clothes, right? Let’s hurry up and get going.”
“A-aah, yeah.”
In the end, without knowing which was Miyu's real tone of voice, we left the house again and went outside.
