Chapter 9: Pretending to Sleep
I hurriedly left the bathroom, roughly wiped my head and body, and returned to my room.
I wanted to lie on the bed, but I sat on the floor with the bed as a backrest.
Because my hair was still wet. Usually, my big sister dried it for me, so I could lie down right away, but today I wiped it roughly myself.
But it’s my big sister’s fault for saying weird things.
I’m bored until my hair dries.
Studying again… I don’t want to. I studied a lot at noon.
If I go to my big sister’s room— no, I won’t go! Not now. If I go, it’s tomorrow. If I go now, I’ll think about what happened earlier, and she might say weird things again.
But even if I don’t go, my big sister will probably come when it’s bedtime. My hair is still wet, but whatever. I’ll get into bed. If she’s coming anyway, I’ll just be asleep by then.
With that thought, I got into bed and slipped under the covers.
My wet hair feels gross, but I endure it.
As I closed my eyes to sleep, someone knocked on my room’s door.
“Miha, I’m coming in,” my big sister said as she entered.
I tensed up but quickly relaxed so she wouldn’t notice I was awake.
“Miha? Already asleep?” she asked.
I didn’t reply. I’m asleep, after all.
“So, you’re asleep,” she said.
Then, my big sister slowly lifted the covers and lay next to me.
She gently stroked my head.
“Your hair’s still wet,” she said.
Even so, she kept stroking my head.
It’s not like I’m happy about it, but since I’m asleep, resisting would be weird… so I don’t resist.
“Miha, I love you,” she whispered in my ear, reaching toward my chest, like I used to do long ago.
“Miha, you’re awake, aren’t you?” she said.
Her hand almost touched my chest, but she stopped and whispered in my ear again.
She probably doesn’t mean it seriously. So, I don’t reply.
“If you don’t admit you’re awake, I’ll do what you did to me,” she said.
She whispered in my ear again, and I struggled not to flinch.
“So, Miha’s asleep. Then, it’s fine to do anything,” she said.
Then, she nibbled my ear and gently touched my chest.
“Big sister! I’m awake! I’m awake, so stop!” I hurriedly stopped her, showing I was awake.
“What are you doing, big sister?” I asked.
“What? I’m just copying you,” she said.
“I never bit your ear! Don’t do weird things!” I said.
I know I did weird things to her before, but for now, I’ll ignore that and say it.
“It’s because you didn’t admit you were awake,” she said.
“I wasn’t awake! I was asleep!” I said.
“Liar. When you sleep, I always hear your cute breathing,” she said.
“Tch, that’s… I just didn’t breathe like that today… and what’s with calling my breathing cute!? Don’t listen to it!” I said.
Embarrassed that she heard my breathing, I dove back under the covers.
I grabbed the edge of the blanket to keep her from lifting it. I didn’t want her to see my face.
“Miha, it’s cold,” she said.
“You can get in, but if you lift the blanket, I’ll really get mad,” I said.
“Thanks, Miha,” she said.
I let my big sister into the blanket and closed my eyes.
I’ll sleep quickly to avoid more weird things.

Chapter 10: Yesterday’s Revenge
I woke up in the morning and, unusually, my big sister wasn’t next to me.
It’s not a big deal, but she’s always there when I wake up, so I felt, just slightly, lonely. I mean, I know why she’s not here.
I have a day off from school, but she doesn’t. That’s all.
I got out of bed, carrying a slight feeling of loneliness.
“Ugh… I’ll wash my face,” I said.
I washed my face and went to the living room, where I noticed a lunch box on the table.
My big sister made it for me.
I opened the lunch box.
It had colorful vegetables, fried chicken, and rice.
Did she wake up earlier than usual to make this?
“Thank you for the food,” I said.
I was hungry, so I started eating the lunch.
It was delicious, though cold.
“Thanks for the meal,” I said.
I finished eating and put my hands together.
I suddenly had nothing to do.
Should I go out somewhere? There’s nothing to do at home without my big sister.
But going out at this time might get me in trouble with the police.
Should I go to her room?
Normally, entering someone’s room without permission might be wrong, but she comes into my room without asking, so it’s fair if I do the same.
With that thought, I opened her room’s door and went inside.
Her room was the same as always. It was no different from when she makes me sleep here.
The only difference was that she wasn’t here.
I didn’t have anything to do. Yesterday, she did something embarrassing to me, so I wanted to do something to embarrass her back.
Not in the way I did things before, of course.
What would embarrass her, besides the things I did before?
Maybe watching her sleep or listening to her breathing, like she did to me? But even if that embarrassed her, I can’t wake up earlier than her.
What about telling her I love her? No, she’d probably like that, and it might give her the wrong idea.
I love her, but as a sister.
Then… sniffing her scent? She’s not here now, and her bed is right here. We sleep together often, but I’ve never consciously sniffed her scent. She might get embarrassed if she knew I sniffed her things while she was gone. At least, I’d be embarrassed and worry if I smelled bad.
Yeah, this is perfect for revenge.
With that thought, I got into her bed, hugged her pillow, and sniffed it.
As expected, it smelled like her.
“Sniff… ha…”
It’s a familiar scent, but sniffing it on purpose made it feel different, kind of weird.
I’ll sniff more. Not because I want to, obviously. It’s just to get revenge for yesterday.
The more I sniff, the more I can embarrass her later, so I hugged her pillow, slipped under the covers, and kept sniffing.
