Chapter 7: No Delicacy at All

The girl who I had saved from the high orc was now begging me to save her manager with tears running down her face. 

“My manager… Please save my manager!!”

I guess she wasn’t a solo player. I immediately nodded. 

“Where’s your manager?”

“Over there…!”

“Okay. I’m sorry, but this is an emergency. I will carry you.”

“Huh?”

I lifted the girl. I couldn’t just leave her here and her legs were still shaky. She wouldn’t be able to follow me given her current state. An old man like me might get reported for touching the body of a young teenage girl that he met for the first time. However, this was an emergency. I had no other choice. I put my hand around her back and held her up with one arm. As a restaurant owner, I had a steady hand. I kept her upright with only my palm touching her back in order to minimize the surface contact. 

〈The heck with his way of holding her? 〉

〈No delicacy at all. 〉

〈It’s unique. That’s for sure. LOL〉

〈I thought he was going to carry her in the so-called princess carry. 〉

“Here I go.”

“Hu-Huh? HUHHHHH?!?!?!?”

I ran full speed ahead, ignoring the girl’s scream. Soon enough, I saw the scene I had been searching for. 

“A minotaur, huh. Another monster that is supposed to be in the lower level.”

I spotted a massive monster with the head of a bull and the body of a burly man. At its feet, there was a woman.

〈Uwah. Is she dead?〉

〈Are we too late?〉

〈We can’t know for sure yet!〉

〈Ah, but the minotaur is stomping on her so hard!〉

〈If she’s being stomped on like that, she would be dead by now if she wasn’t already.〉

I swung the kitchen knife I had in my free hand even though there was a considerable distance between me and the minotaur. The minotaur’s head was immediately severed and sent flying through the air. The headless body then collapsed to the ground with a loud bam. 

〈Huh?〉

〈What just happened?〉

〈The minotaur was about 50 meters away, right…?〉

〈Did he cut it?〉

〈Is that even possible?!〉

I rushed over to the lying woman and set the girl I had been carrying to the ground. 

“Reika-san… Aahh….”

The girl couldn’t afford to finish her speech. She was immediately struck with despair. It was a terrible sight indeed. The woman’s arms and legs were bent in unnatural directions. Her torso was dented in multiple places. Her internal organs were likely destroyed as well. Blood was gushing out from every orifices of her body, forming a pool on the ground. 

“No way… Reika-san… Because of me..”

That being said, the woman’s was still breathing. I could see a faint movement of her chest rising and falling, indicating that she was still alive. However, it was clear to see that she wouldn’t last much longer.

〈Aaaaaaaaaah…〉

〈This is so heartbreaking…〉

〈Isn’t she Miku Kanamoto’s manager? She’s famous for being so beautiful. 〉

〈For real?〉

〈I just looked her up. She’s so incredibly beautiful. This is definitely a loss for humanity. I’m literally speechless now.〉

“It’s alright. She’ll be just fine if it’s only this much.”

After checking the extent of her injuries, I nodded confidently and said so.

〈No matter how I look at it, there’s no way she can be saved. 〉

〈Old man, don’t give her false hope…〉

〈Wait, considering what this old man has done so far… Maybe it’s actually possible?!〉

〈Real. He’s been defying all our expectations this whole time.〉

“Re-Really…?!”

“Yeah. I just need to use this.”

I pulled out a vial of potion. However, this wasn’t just any ordinary potion. 

〈Can potion even heal injuries of that degree?〉

〈No way. Sure, potion can heal broken bones. But not this. This is way beyond the capabilities of potion. 〉

〈No, wait. Look closely guys. The potion… Is it glowing in rainbow colors?〉

〈IT IS!! I’ve never seen that kind of potion!〉

〈Don’t tell me… Is that a High Potion? The one with a market value of several thousands of yen?〉

〈High Potion supposed to be gold colored though?〉

〈No,no. You guys are missing the most important thing. How can she drink anything given her condition?〉

Yes. Potions were most effective when taken orally, but it would be impossible to make an unconscious person drink it. Fortunately, this Ex-Potion could heal this woman just by sprinkling it on her body. I got this back when I was active in dungeon diving. I was glad I had kept it. 

I opened the bottle and sprinkled it over the battered woman.

〈Her body is glowing?!〉

〈What’s happening here?! That is definitely not a normal potion!!〉

〈Even high potions can’t do this!!〉

〈So this is something beyond high potions?!〉

〈Could it be… That is Ex-Potion?!〉

〈You mean a potion that can only be found in the deep level? The one with a market value of a million yen?!〉

Within the blink of an eye, the woman’s body was completely healed without any scratch left on her.

“She… She’s healed?”

“I told you, right? She will wake up soon enough.”

The girl let out a sigh of relief. Then, she turned her attention to me and bowed her head respectfully.

“Thank you! Thank you so, so much! If it weren’t for you… The two of us would’ve been dead already. I don’t even know how to thank you… Ah! I haven’t even introduced myself! I’m Kanamoto. Miku Kanamoto. I’m an idol. More or less.”

“I’m Nishida… Uhh… But I’m not using my real name. Ummm… Just call me Ken.”

“U-Understood! Ken-san then! Please, feel free to call me Miku!”

〈Did he say Nishida?〉

〈I also heard him saying Nishida. LOL〉

〈A cute girl and an old man.〉

〈Lucky old man…〉

〈I also want to call her Miku…〉

〈Me too! I’m going to a dungeon to take down a minotaur too!〉

“By the way… That drone… Ken-san, are you a streamer?”

“Yeah. Sort of. This is my first stream though.”

“Well, I’m not a high-rank explorer.”

“Bu-But you took down a high orc and a minotaur in an instant…”

“Just some old tricks that I learned back when I was young. I do have to say, I’m quite confident with my skills though!”

And then, the female manager finally regained her consciousness. 

“Hm…. Wha-What happened…?”

“Reika-san!!”

“…Miku?”

“Uweeeeeeeeeeh!! I’m so gladdddddd!!”

Miku Kanamoto immediately burst into tears and hugged her manager tightly. 

〈What a beautiful scene. 〉

〈Look, the old man is tearing up. 〉

“Miku… Just what’s going on here…?”

“I’M SO SORRRYYYYY!!! EVERYTHING IS MY FAULTTTTTT!!!”

“Umm…”

“I REALLY THOUGHT YOU WERE DEADDDDDDDD!!!”

“Mo-More importantly…. Ah, so soft… Smells so good too… Sniff sniff… No, wait. Miku, can you tell me what happened?”

〈Did the manager just sniff the idol’s scent for a moment there?〉

〈Well, Miku-chan probably smells really nice. I want to take a whiff too. Hahahaha!〉

〈Dearest customer, would you like some lily with your order?〉
