Chapter 6: I’m Totally Disappointed

The idol, Miku Kanamoto, along with her manager, Reika Kaga, had ventured into the middle level of the Tachihi Dungeon. However, they somehow encountered a minotaur, a monster that was supposed to only appear in the lower level.

The viewers erupted in panic and the minotaur started charging at them with great vigor. 

“Ice Shield!”

Reika quickly cast a shield of ice in an attempt to block the minotaur. But the minotaur easily shattered the block of ice.

“Reika-san?!”

Reika was sent flying by the impact from the minotaur. Her slender body soared through the air and crashed into the wall behind her while the minotaur was still standing still, towering over the two girls.

〈STOP IT YOU STUPID BULL!!!!〉

The viewers screamed in terror and Miku rushed to her manager’s side. Although Reika was grimacing from the pain, she still did her best to get up. Her feet were wobbling. She was staggering on her feet.

“Miku… I’m fine. You need to run quickly.”

“I-I can’t possibly do that!”

“I will be honest here. You will only be a burden if you stay.”

“…”

“If you weren’t behind me just now, I could’ve easily dodged that charge.”

“I-I…”

The minotaur bent its head down, preparing to charge toward the two of them again. 

“RUN! NOW!!”

Miku finally ran with all her might. The minotaur hesitated for a moment, seemingly unsure whether to pursue her or not. But then, the minotaur decided that it was better to finish off the wounded one first. The minotaur shifted its focus away from Miku, ready to attack the injured manager. 

〈She ran away and left her manager behind?!〉

〈She literally left her manager to die?!〉

〈I’m totally disappointed.〉

〈No, I don’t think she had any other choice. They must’ve already had an agreement for an emergency like this. Miku-chan probably had to run away to find help or something. 〉

〈Besides, a D-rank like Miku-chan would only be a burden anyway. 〉

〈I didn’t hear it clearly, but yeah. I think I heard Kaga-san tell Miku-chan to run away too.〉

〈She probably just said that so Miku-chan would escape. 〉

The comment section became more chaotic and Miku shouted. Her voice was trembling.

“Thi-This is my fault… Kaga-san already said we should go back, but I insisted on continuing…”

〈Miku-chan deeply regretted it.〉

〈It will be okay! This is Kaga-san we’re talking about! I’m sure she will be just fine!〉

Her tears hadn’t dried up yet, but she already encountered a high orc, a monster that should only appear in the lower level. The high orc jumped and swung its big axe at her. Miku immediately readied her sword, trying to block the axe, but…

Miku forced her aching body to move and tried to run from the high orc. However, even though the high orc was massive in size, the high orc was surprisingly fast. She couldn’t keep her distance from it no matter how hard she ran.

Then perhaps due to fear, she stumbled on her legs and fell hard to the ground. The High Orc quickly caught up to her. 

“Hiii-!”

〈STOP IT YOU FILTHY PIGGGGG!!!〉

〈PLEASE!! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP HER!! ANYONE!!〉

Her fans cried out for her life and Miku braced herself to welcome death as she saw the big blade raised above her.

“Papa… Mama… I’m sorry. Everyone in the group too… Reika-san too… I’m sorry.”

Miku closed her eyes, but no matter how long she waited, the blade never touched her. She slowly opened her eyes. 

“…Huh?”

She was immediately greeted by the sight of an old man standing in front of her. He looked about the same age as Miku’s father, who was 45 years old this year. The man stopped the high orc’s axe with one hand. It seemed Miku was still alive thanks to this old man.

〈OLD MANNNNNNNNN!!!〉

〈HE’S OUR GOD AND SAVIOR! HE’S OUR GODDDDD!!〉

〈Did he just stop a high orc’s axe with his bare hand?! HOW?!?!〉

He said before the high orc’s whole body disappeared. It was like magic. Real magic.

Miku stood there in a daze, but she suddenly snapped back to reality upon remembering a very important thing.

“My manager… Please save my manager!!”
