An active hunter from Hokkaido was thrown into another world
Chapter 87 The way the hero fights.
The Hero, Blanversh.
He suddenly leaps right into the midst of the Orcs…
A tumultuous roar echoes――――!
He stumbled!
Hey ――――!!
In an instant, the hero finds himself surrounded, with axes and swords poised to strike. But fear not, for he swiftly crouches and wields his sword to slice the Orcs’ legs, Blanversh in action!
Bang――――!
Clank clank clink!
Bang――――!
Clank clank clink!
I stand by the Hero’s side, methodically felling Orcs one after another in support.
Amidst the chaos, the hero, his voice filled with frustration, deflects a sword strike and delivers a powerful horizontal slash to an Orc’s abdomen.
It’s quite nerve-wracking to witness.
Thrown off balance by the Orc’s sword swing, he tumbles to the ground with a cry.
As more Orcs move in for an attack, he deftly rolls away, narrowly evading.
Is he okay? Did he sustain any injuries?
From behind the group of Orcs converging on the hero, I swiftly fire off another round of rifle shots!
Bang――――!
Clank clank clink!
Rising to his feet, the hero, though slightly unsteady, tears through an Orc’s abdomen with his blade.
In the same motion, he whirls around and takes down another attacker before falling again.
Such vulnerability…
Wait a second, where did that showmanship and finesse from the arena battles go?
Amidst a less-than-graceful collapse, an Orc’s axe nearly lands a blow on the fallen hero, but he manages to evade it with a kick before swiftly slashing across the Orc’s belly.
My role here is clear: I must provide continuous support for the hero by firing bullets one after another.
From an initial thirty Orcs, there are now merely ten remaining.
With labored breath, the hero faces the Orcs head-on, their sword swung with a forceful “thud.” He counters with a swift slash, then pivots to cleave through another Orc from behind in a reverse arc.
His recent movements were truly astounding!
However, he now leans on his sword, using it as a makeshift staff, gasping for air.
Amidst this, I take down another Orc advancing on him.
Six remaining.
Bang――――!
Another Orc, this time aiming at the hero, is eliminated by my shot.
Five left!
The hero, unable to endure, makes a quick escape towards the shrine.
The pursuing Orcs.
I manage to eliminate one of them…
Then, abruptly, the hero stands tall, sword poised forward, and gives me a thumbs-up.
Huh?
Whizz!
In the blink of an eye, Blanversh darts through the gap between five Orcs, swinging his sword with precision.
He gracefully sweeps his sword sideways, retrieves a handkerchief, wipes the blade, and sheathes it.
The Orcs collapse, entrails spilling in a chaotic flurry.
Five of them brought down in one sweep…
“Was it all staged? Was it an act? What was with that feeble fighting style?”
“Quite the man, huh,” Saran murmurs.
The hero signals with a beckoning motion.
“No signs of any danger. Lets go, Shin,” Saran stands up and nods.
Heroes truly are something…
Struggling and huffing our way down the mountain, we’re met with the gruesome scene of thirty Orc corpses strewn about, soaked in blood.
Hero Blanversh remains lively and well.
Not a scratch or graze on him.
“Hey there, impressive, Shin. You’ve taken down more than half. I lost,” the hero greets.
“Well, if it were just me, more than half of them would have escaped.” I respond.
“Exactly. With such an incomprehensible method of defeating their allies and then someone like me charging in and causing a ruckus, they’d naturally flee. But if the opponent seems weak, like they could be defeated with a bit more effort, they’ll stand their ground. It’s a strategy to eliminate every single one of them without letting any escape.”
Certainly worthy of a hero. He’s used to fighting alone, adapting as necessary. I can’t even compare myself to him.
As I descend the mountain, I switch my gun to the pump-action Remington M870.
Among the fallen Orcs, I proceed to deliver coup de grâce shots to the ones still clinging to life, hitting each in the back of the head.
“That gun is impressive too… and you’re cautious, Shin.”
“Leaving wounded enemies alive is a knight’s practice, I believe. But I’m a hunter, so it’s customary for me to end the suffering of prey that’s on the brink of death as swiftly as possible.”
“I see… that’s quite enlightening.”
“Blanversh-san.”
“Hmm?”
“I believe you’ve now understood my fighting style and my weakness.”
“…Indeed.”
“I’m completely inept at combat. I’m weak. A mere punch from Saran could kill me.”
“I would never do such a thing!”
Ah, hahaha. My apologies, Saran.
” Blanversh -san, you could have defeated all these Orcs even without me. But I can’t take down even half of them. If they escape, it’s over. If they attack, it’s over. If they counterattack, I’m done for. Please give up on having me as a party member.”
The hero nods in understanding.
“I wouldn’t have become a hero if I had a lovely wife like yours and a happy home. Saran, I apologize for my behavior so far. Your husband is amazing.”
With those words, Blanversh-san smiles.
“I’ve been completely defeated. As expected of the hero.”
“Well, it’s not that big of a deal.”
It seems he understands the meaning behind my words. Blanversh-san extends his right hand.
I grasp his hand, and we shake hands.
“Now, let’s hurry back to the village. Another unit might be headed that way, and we need to report to the village quickly.”
“Understood.”
Back in the village, when we report about the Orcs, the village chief immediately imposes a state of high alert. The men are deployed to monitor the village’s surroundings.
The corpses of the thirty Orcs we defeated are left as they are. We can’t spare manpower for that. The wolves will take care of them anyway.
Blanversh-san remains in the village, helping with surveillance.
It’s reassuring.
I climb up to the central watchtower in the village, placing my gun to the side, and use binoculars for surveillance.
At night, we light bonfires for vigilance.
We take turns with Saran.
It’s been a day, and there have been no incidents.
It seems there won’t be any further enemy attacks.
“However, to think that such creatures gathered in front of the shrine. Could this be a sign of the Demon King’s revival?”
Well, I don’t think so, Blanversh-san.
I believe you’re overthinking it.
It’s likely just a convenient resting spot for them before they invade the Elven village.
I’ll ask Nanotesu-san about it later, just to be sure.
