Chapter 14 [Leon’s Perspective]
This happened before the orphanage management got on track.
I had come with Hibiki-san to apologize to the father of the brat Rebecca-tan had injured.
“I am terribly sorry.”
“The audacity of lowly commoners…!”
Without any combat cheats, my only way to calm his anger was to prostrate myself.
I demonstrated my well-practiced bow to the baron.
The saying ‘like father, like son’ held true as he unhesitatingly stepped on my head.
Wow, low boiling point! He’s like a textbook example of a weak noble.
After all, he’s just a baron. In this countryside, that’s hardly different from a commoner. It’s surprising how much weight his title carries here. Almost impressive, in a way.
“Hmph. I showed mercy to a pitiable girl abandoned by her parents, and this is how she repays me – by defying me!”
The cuteness of my sweet angel Eris-tan goes without saying.
The brat strutting around from behind his father’s shadow is smitten with Eris-tan.
He tried to get her attention and ended up being disliked, leading to Rebecca-tan’s punishment.
A noble boy, almost a commoner, gets his nose broken by a little girl. “Pfft, hahaha, serves him right!”
While I was laughing internally,
“I’ll need proper compensation for the harm my son has suffered,” he said.
I got a bad feeling.
Being as low as I am, I can instantly sense when I’m dealing with someone of my ilk.
I quickly looked up and, sure enough, the baron was reaching out his filthy hand towards Hibiki-san’s cheek.
…Sigh. This is why I didn’t want to bring her along.
While she is a gentle and older-sister type, she can be quite stubborn.
I repeatedly insisted that it’s a man’s job to bow his head in situations like this, but she firmly grasped my arm, saying, “No! I won’t let go until you take me with you!”
She pulled so hard that her prominent breasts squished against me.
At that moment, I felt like awarding Rebecca a medal of honor.
If I were a king, I would undoubtedly bestow upon her the highest order.
What’s remarkable is that Hibiki-san herself resolved not to let go until she was allowed to accompany me.
Usually broad-minded, she becomes absolutely unyielding once she’s made up her mind, falling into a kind of tunnel vision.
Because of this, we had the following exchange for about three hours:
“Please let me go alone.”
“No.”
“Let go of me.”
“No.”
“I should be the one to―”
“No matter what you say, Leon-san, I won’t let go.”
Of course, during all this time, I could feel the sensation of Hibiki-san’s chest against my arm.
“Wow! Amazing! This is fantastic! Fever time!” I thought.
The weight, the area of contact on my arm—oh my. Quite impressive. An F-cup, perhaps? Marvelous! Gahaha!
After enjoying the divine feeling of Hibiki-san’s bosom and a lengthy argument, I finally gave in and decided to let her accompany me.
“Alright, I admit defeat. Will you come with me?”
I asked, and she responded with an incredibly happy smile, saying, “Yes!”
…Sigh, I really want to get married. I wish she could stay by my side forever. I really like her, so much.
I want her to bear my child. But, is a man who just bows his head and waits for the storm to pass not up to the mark?
If only I had the cheat-like abilities to make a grand proposal.
I was aware of the baron’s gaze, sweeping over her entire body.
I understand the feeling; I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve admired her myself.
But Hibiki-san is my wife-to-be.
I can’t stand her being touched by hands that I don’t know where they’ve been.
No choice then. Time for Plan B, though I really didn’t want to use it.
“Please refrain from casually touching the lady.”
I said, grabbing the baron’s wrist firmly.
It’s something to aspire to, right? I think the guys will understand.
“Seems like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Poorly raised. A lady must be treated as delicately as silk—ugh!”
I got punched.
“Don’t touch me! How dare a mere orphanage director get so presumptuous!”
Thud, bash, bang!
Wait, time out! Time out!
Violence isn’t good! It doesn’t solve anything! We should never resort to violence, no matter what! Ouch, it hurts, it really hurts!
Wait, this baron is strong!? And getting so angry just because a commoner touched him, isn’t that a bit of an overreaction? At least let me have a cool moment.
My plan to impress Hibiki-san by heroically protecting her is ruined. And here I am, getting beaten up in a blink… It’s so sad. It makes me want to cry.
I found myself helplessly on the receiving end of a one-sided beating.
Ugh, it hurts, stop, I’m out of life points.
I screamed while recording solid evidence to ensure the baron couldn’t wriggle out of this.
Muahaha! Fool! Did you think I just came here to be beaten up? Ignorant fools!
My Plan B, officially named “A Cornered Rat Bites the Cat,” is a strategy of returning the favor a thousandfold.
The squabble between Rebecca-tan and the brat was, after all, just a child’s quarrel (though it is rare to see a little girl continue punching until she breaks a nose).
But things change when it involves adults who are supposed to act rationally.
No matter if the other party holds a title, coercing a beautiful woman, showering a commoner with abuse, and even resorting to violence, he won’t be able to escape responsibility.
Of course, there’s a chance it might be hushed up if he’s a high-ranking noble, but these guys are just honorary nobility, barely a step above commoners.
With this much evidence, it’s only a matter of time before they’re cut loose. This is why I find fools easy to handle. They fall for such obvious provocations every time.
Thinking I’m weak and that’s why I’m getting beaten up? Sorry, you’re right. But that’s why I’m recording this, to return the favor a thousand times later—wait…
I, who allowed Hibiki-san to accompany me, had already informed her of the potential execution of Plan B.
When Hibiki-san heard that I was intentionally getting beaten up, she scolded me, saying, “Please take better care of yourself!”
Well, Hibiki-san, as the director of the orphanage, probably didn’t want to see me getting beaten up so miserably. It’s just too pitiful.
Eris-tan always tries to be helpful to me, and above all, her healing magic feels really good. Sometimes I even want to get hurt just so the little girl can heal me.
That’s why I had strictly instructed Hibiki-san to not intervene, no matter what happened to me, and just keep filming the whole scene. But then…
Snap!
What was that sound just now? It sounded like something snapped.
Oh no, could it be…
“Get away from Leon-san.”
There stood Hibiki-san, with the switch of her past as a murderer fully turned on.
She was shielding me, covered in wounds, with her knife at the baron’s throat.
Wait, wait, wait! That’s not good, Hibiki-san! What are you doing?
“Do you know what happens when I slit that throat?”
She asked.
He’ll die! Hibiki-san, that’s a Yakuza-style threat! I was trying to settle this subtly and cunningly, and now it’s all ruined!
To put it bluntly about the outcome: at my feet, a vast sea of red would spread.
Whose blood?
Hahaha!
Obviously, the baron’s!
I resolved to start correcting Rebecca’s behavior immediately. If this keeps happening, it’s only a matter of time before the orphanage is burned down!
The one person you absolutely must not anger at the orphanage is Hibiki-san.
This is a common understanding between me and the Divine Seven—other orphans.
It’s a topic of conversation, a ghost story, and a laughing matter.
For now, I prayed earnestly for the baron’s peaceful rest. No, he was not dead.
