Aiming to be the perfect butler for my lady - Chapter 93- Btother~
Kyle has an older brother in his family who hates Kyle. Reason? His closeness to Alatia.
His older brother—Stephen Williams, didn’t like the fact that Kyle, the useless, non-awakened brat, was able to make close connections with the Princess and possibly with the royal family.
Although Stephen never said it, he actually had a crush on Alatia since the age of eight. However, Alatia remained so distant from everyone in the William family except for Kyle that Stephen never found the chance to befriend her.
Not to talk about, his hatred elevated when he received the news of Kyle getting purchased by the Princess after he was sold as a slave.
Kyle knows all too well the grudge Stephen carries in his heart for him. However, canonically, Kyle was so focused on his evil deeds that he never paid attention to his brother.
However, now that Kyle is with Alatia and has to maintain a peaceful life, he has to be cautious of that guy.
Stephen wasn’t a Count’s son anymore. However, their father retained their surname because of William Joseph’s achievement in trading. That’s why Stephen holds some authority…but not in school. And against Alatia, he wouldn’t be able to cause trouble for Kyle.
Unless necessary, Kyle didn’t want to expose himself to the limelight for any reason. That’s why he decided to remain low-key and observe what Stephen had been planning.
That’s why late at night, after Alatia fell asleep—it took a lot of effort, but she finally dozed off while talking to him—Kyle left the dorm through the back window.
He found the little space between the house wall and the fence where he changed his clothes and soon left the dorm area.
He has already unlocked four sockets—thanks to the dwarf he fought to save Charlotte’s family and the training he received from the Sage—so utilizing short-distance teleportation was not a hassle anymore.
If he was to be ranked then Kyle was confident to be ranked B. His strength and speed have significantly increased and his magic control is well balanced and efficient—something which even the Sage concurred.
Reaching the third-year dorm section, he paused.
He was unaware of the security here and what trap might be awaiting him. He can’t take any chances; as such, Kyle stopped using Teleportation and decided to become completely incognito.
When he uses his spells in that short duration, he becomes vulnerable to detectors and people with high perceptive skills. Like back then, in front of the labyrinth entrance, the headmaster sensed his presence even though Kyle vanished with the speed of light.
He had to rely on his agility to tread through here.
Kyle had already gone through the student register earlier when the whole place was in a panic. And found out the dorm number in which Stephen resides.
Reaching there, he didn’t jump down instantly but rather went back towards the same place where he changed his clothes. Every dorm has a similar design, but these are quite big in size.
‘Hmm?’ Kyle peeked through the window and found the whole house was under darkness.
Kyle pressed his ear against the window but he wasn’t able to hear anything.
Finally, he decided to take this chance and climb inside. He was wearing his wooden mask and could teleport in a blink, so he should be fine.
Slowly moving the window up, he discreetly stepped inside the house and was met by a very bad odor. It seems something was rotting.
Kyle cringed for a moment but decided to first focus on anything he could use to determine Stephen’s next move. Based on the information he gets today, he might have to ask Alatia’s help to get rid of this older brother.
‘So dark…’ He wasn’t able to see anything so he used Beta to look around.
There were vials of potions lying around, stains of what seemed like blood and wine, and the source of the foul smell was rotten food items placed inside the dustbin. It seems the food was delivered but was never eaten by Stephen…for almost two weeks.
‘What is he eating these days? Worms?’ Kyle inwardly chuckled and made his way inside.
*CREAK*
He suddenly paused as the door of the room adjacent to him parted slightly.
It was because of the window he left open, the cross-ventilation caused the door to part a little. And through that slight space, Kyle saw the scene inside—making Kyle gasp.
Inside the room, he could see two figures. One of them was undoubtedly Stephen. Those violet hair and golden eyes, he couldn’t be mistaken. However, what made Kyle shocked beyond belief was the identity of the other one.
The main villain of the current arc. The Devil of Illusion: Hatres.
Kyle was completely frozen at his spot as he saw his brother kneeling before the Devil.
Kyle took a deep breath and focused on his senses. If Stephen was helping the Devil then he has to ensure that these two meet their makers.
“I found him~Got even in contact, but it was no fun as that brat was quite perceptive.” The Devil said while dangling his legs down the armrest. He had pale white skin and wore a white suit.
Unlike demons, Devils completely retain their sanity and generally are quite stronger than the high-ranking demons. And this one, twelve feet away from Kyle, is known for his art of illusion.
‘I need to be careful.’ While clutching Beta tightly, Kyle decided he would escape the moment he noticed something strange.
“But master, you should be careful. If what you have said is true, then the Child of Prophecy would somehow realize your presence and might inform the Headmaster.” Stephen spoke, not even once daring to lift his head.
The Child of Prophecy was undoubtedly Logan and it seems the Devil came in contact with him today.
‘This is too soon…’ The plot hasn’t reached that point where the Devil should be acting already. Then, what changed?
“Haha~you worry too much! He is nothing but a brat, and I know how to crush him, both emotionally and physically.” The Devil heartily laughed while slapping his thigh. The ominous laughter echoed through the house, sending a jolt down Kyle’s spine.
All of a sudden, the Devil stopped laughing—his body becoming completely still. The next time he spoke, his voice held a chilling edge, as he suggested,
“By the way slave, why don’t you take care of our guest?”
Kyle stopped breathing as he saw Stephen raising his head finally and looking at nowhere else but Kyle.
Through his mask, Kyle felt his eyes locking on his brother’s and his body completely turned stiff—and in the next instance, Kyle found a hand on his shoulder.
The scene in front completely dissolved as Kyle side glanced at the Devil who was suddenly standing right beside him.
The overwhelming presence and that sinister smile made his heart race and without a second thought, Kyle teleported away.
….
“Shit!” Stephen cursed, once the masked man disappeared. However, his master didn’t seem bothered at all. More so, he was even chuckling like he had heard the best joke of his life.
Stephen couldn’t help but frown and ask him, “What happened, master?”
“Ahh~I was just guessing who this person could be, but after seeing this,” he said; he raised his hand, which had several silver hair strands hanging before he added, “I know the identity of this masked friend of ours.”
With Hatres’ eyes shining, he asked his slave, “Stepheny, how about you pay a visit to your little bro?”
Stephen’s eyes widened for a moment as he realized the meaning behind those words before he clenched his fist and uttered through his gritted teeth,
“With pleasure.”
