- Chapter 93- Useless Protagonist?
“She refused, Madame.” Shirogane Yuki couldn’t help but frown in concern as she saw the food on the tray in the maid’s hand.
For some unknown reason, Miyuki skipped school today and has been locked inside her room ever since. When she tried to reach out to her daughter, Miyuki begged to be left alone for today.
Her husband said to leave her alone but being a mother she couldn’t help herself.
‘Did she fight with Hiroto-kun?’ Yuki has long discerned the fact that if someone could influence her daughter to this extent then it was her son-in-law.
She was about to call Hiroto when suddenly her eyes went towards the news which was flashing on the TV and the phone from her hand dropped to the ground.

[At the same time]
[Takeda household]
“Do you think we should talk to Miyuki-san about this?” Sitting on the couch was the couple who still were concerned about their child.
Seeing Hiroto in such a down spirit about this engagement had them worried. Hiroto’s relationship with Miyuki has gone through several rough patches and that’s what makes the elder couple quite worried.
Ryuuske heaved a sigh before denying, “They are grown up and know what’s good for them. If something is going on between them, then we shouldn’t intervene.”
Akiko couldn’t refute his answer since she also knew that it would be a bad idea to interfere.
With her shoulders heavy in concern she leaned on her husband and the couple sat in silence while the TV showed a daily cooking program.
Suddenly, a breaking news flashed on the TV, garnering their attention, and when they read the content of the news, their faces became pale.
“H-Hiro….”

[Kaori’s POV:]
How did this happen? I couldn’t tell. What just happened in these half an hour, if someone asks me, then I might not be able to completely narrate.
I was so shocked, by the sudden appearance of some masked men holding big rifles, that for a long time, I was just moving based on my instincts.
Fear and concern overwhelmed my mind and before I knew it, I found myself being tied with a thick rope with the other students.
However, more than my own life, what concerned me was Yuichi
When the ambushers arrived he tried to fight them off, however, because no one supported him and the number of assailants exceeded a dozen, Yuichi was apprehended easily. And despite how much I cried and called for help, he was taken away.
“Must understand, this isn’t a prank. Our motive doesn’t lie in keeping you all alive. A single more shout and a random squirt die.” The masked assailant spoke to our homeroom teacher while pointing the gun in our direction.
His accent suggested he was a foreigner and wasn’t fearful of the police.
‘Yu-kun…..where are you….’ Tears rolled down my eyes as I thought about him. He tried his best to save us…but it didn’t work. Not even Hiroto was in the classroom to help him.
Closing my eyes, I can only pray to god that wherever he is, nothing happens to him.

[Third Person POV:]
The whole school was completely under surveillance by the terrorist group. They were almost thirty in number and each one of them was heavily loaded with ammunition, guns, and grenades.
Their motive was to bring the mastermind behind the bioweapon which destroyed their homeland. And to reach that mastermind, they have taken his daughter as a hostage.
“*Sniff* My dad will never come…y-*hicc*you have chosen the wrong person to blackmail him.” Inside the staff room, Suzu was bound to the chair with ropes, and in front of her sat the leader of the group with a checkered fabric wrapped around his lower face.
“We will see abouth thath.” The terrorist mockingly responded in his broken accent.
Just as he got up from the seat, Suzu shouted, “Where is my friend?! What did you do to him?!” Yuichi was taken captive by them but he wasn’t kept here with Suzu. And this fact made her excessively worried.
The assailant turned to look at Suzu with his eyes upturned a little before he put his thumb on his neck and sliced it from left to right.
“He’s dead.”
*********
The room where Yuichi was brought was the supply room on the third floor. Here, the broken and extra desks and other teaching materials are kept.
“Pfft-this guy thought he would fulfill his childhood dream of saving the school from terrorists.” One of those among the terrorists laughed as he rubbed his boot against Yuichi’s face.
“Not his fault. There were numerous hot chicks in the class after all.” Another one uttered as he lit a cigarette after removing the balaclava from his face.
The third person who was standing behind the two terrorists was a young man but he wasn’t covering his mouth and he was wearing the same school uniform as Yuichi.
“What are you guys doing? Just kill him before he wakes up.” The shaved-head schoolboy who was involved in this ambush urged the two men.
“Tch, shut your ass brat.” The one who was rubbing his boot on Yuichi irritatingly spat—much to the high schooler’s fret as he backed off.
“He’s right tho…we should kill him and have some fun now that we have the time.” The one who was smoking suggested with a grin on his face.
His mind reeled back on that short green-haired girl he saw in the same class as the target. After finishing here, he would have a sweet time making her whimper under him.
The other one clicked his tongue before huffing and pulling out his short revolver.
However, before he could have pointed it at Yuichi, the lights of the room turned off, and complete darkness descended.
*Cling*
“Ghug!”
“Akh!”
The shaved-headed boy stepped back in fright and pulled out the short knife he had in possession before calling out, “Who is there?! I sure I will swing this thing if you don’t answer me!” The boy looked frightened as he backed away towards the door—intending to run away.
“Ah!” However, suddenly he crashed into something and immediately spun on his feet.
*Ka* *chak*
Suddenly the lights returned and the shaved boy stood while pointing his knife towards a familiar face wearing a similar uniform.
“Suzuki Nao…class 2-E, second floor, right?”
The shaved boy gulped in dread as he heard his name from him but he didn’t lessen his hostility just because the person in front was a schoolmate.
“You….you are Takeda Hiroto, right? Don’t you understand the situation?! Why are you roaming around?” Nao shouted at the guy while trying to look threatening.
Hiroto’s eyes turned solemn as he advanced toward the shorter guy.
Nao, in a panic, tried to stab Hiroto—only to find the knife dropping to the ground and his hand twisted in a weird angle.
“Aaaaaarg-guff!” Hiroto gagged the guy with the scarf he stole from one of the assailants so he wouldn’t alert the whole building.
Grabbing the guy’s mouth with his claw, Hiroto stared at him with a menacing look,
“You have chosen to work for the wrong people bud.” These were the last words Nao heard before a sharp sensation grazed his neck and blood began to spurt down his neck.
“Khruggg!! Mmmffff!!” He tried to shout and step away, however, Hiroto kept on holding him with an iron claw grip until Nao’s face turned pale and his eyes rolled back.
*Thud*
Dropping the lifeless body of his ex-classmate, Hiroto turned his eyes towards Yuichi.
‘Haah…as I thought, my presence had turned this Protagonist useless…’

A/N:- I don’t know if I would mention it or not, so I will tell you this here; Yuichi attacked the ambushers by being influenced by his dream, which he never saw canonically.
Drop a comment if you liked the chapter and are hyped for the next one.
