Chapter 44: The Tragedy on the Third Day of Captive Life
“Hey, Satori.”
“What?”
“Can’t you let me write a letter?”
“A letter?”
It was the night of the third day in this captive life.
Satori was sitting on my bed as if it were the most natural thing in the world, standing there like she owned the place, and I made a certain suggestion to her.
“Come on, at least let me write a letter. Otherwise, Mahiru and Toa will worry about me, right?”
I couldn’t imagine those two staying quietly at home. They must have found out I was missing and were probably searching for me like mad.
But it seemed Satori had already told them about it.
“It’s fine. I’ve told them properly.”
“Then why haven’t they come here?”
If she’d told them, they should have rushed over right away. I couldn’t underestimate their attachment to me.
That was just how normal it was for them.
“I didn’t tell them the location. I only told them that I’d taken you captive.”
“What? I don’t think they’ll accept that at all…”
“They didn’t accept it, actually. But I revoked their access to the surveillance cameras, so it’s fine. They don’t know where you are.”
That’s not fine at all.
I suddenly looked out the window.
Something terrible was probably happening outside. I had a vague feeling about it.
“Then you should let me write a letter even more.”
“No.”
“Even prisoners in jail get to write letters. Why can’t I?”
“Yeah.”
That’s just too harsh.
I wanted her to respect my human rights a little more.
“I’ll pass on a message if you want.”
“Really?”
She was actually respecting my human rights more than I thought.
But as soon as I thought that, the worst possibility came to mind.
“Hey, you’ll pass it on exactly as I say, right? No biased reporting? You won’t leave out info that’s inconvenient for you or anything like that, will you?”
When I asked her timidly, Satori gave a faint smile.
“It’s fine. I’ll tell them that Akira is looking really happy right now.”
It didn’t sound fine at all.
If things went on like this, the worst game of telephone would start.
“Nah, forget the message.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah. I’ll just pray instead.”
All I could do was pray that the two of them would figure out where I was and come rescue me.
As I clasped my hands together and prayed toward the window,
“Gyaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!”
A man’s scream echoed from the room next door. At the same time, there was the sound of something slamming hard against something else.
Was the guy next door being tortured or something?
“Hey, Satori.”
“What?”
“Does anything go in this house?”
“As long as it’s within reason.”
“…Huh. Then isn’t keeping me captive unreasonable?”
“But it’s fine.”
Satori gave me a look that said, What are you talking about?
It seemed her sense of reason was way off from everyone else’s.
“Uwaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!”
The scream rang out again.
“Whoa, is it really fine? That doesn’t sound like a reasonable scream.”
“It’s fine. They’re having a harem thing over there.”
“That doesn’t explain anything.”
“It’s natural for screams to happen with three against one. Things get pretty intense over there.”
“This side is intense enough too.”
What did she mean by more intense than us?
I was a little curious, but too scared to ask.
“No more! Please stop, no moreeeeeeee!”
“This is your punishmenthhhhhhh!”
What the hell were they doing over there, seriously?
Even normal conversation shouldn’t carry over like this, but since I could hear every word clearly, they had to be yelling for real.
“…I’m kinda curious.”
“Thinking about other women again?”
“That’s what I’m saying is unfair.”
“But just thinking about them is enough to make it a strike against you.”
As she said that, Satori slowly reached for my shirt.
Was it starting again tonight? The dignity destruction.
“Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine, Akira is mine…”
“Stop! My head’s going crazy. Uwaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!”
They could probably hear my voice over there too.
And Uncle could hear it for sure.
“Uwaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!”
“Gyaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!”
A grand chorus of herbivore screams echoed through the building.
If there were neighbors nearby, it wouldn’t just be a nuisance. It would turn into a full-blown noise complaint.
But Satori didn’t care about any of that. She placed her hand on my chest and kept repeating the same words over and over, trying to etch them into my body.
No matter how much I turned my face away, she forced me to look back at her. No matter how much I closed my eyes, she pried my eyelids open.
There was truly no escape for me.
All I was allowed to do was lie there under her and stared up at her.
There was no way I could endure a life like this.
Mahiru. Toa. Please, come and save me!
As my dignity slowly slipped away, all I could do was wish for that to happen.
