- After Being Dumped By Senpai, I Met A High School Girl
- Chapter 10 - Content of the Letter
After that messy event in the faculty room, I hurriedly go to my class. I deeply breathed before I said my introductions.
“Good morning, everyone. I’m Kotaro Hasegawa, your homeroom teacher for the next two months. Due to personal reasons, Kashiwagi-sensei has taken a leave of absence. It may be for a short while, but I look forward to working with you all. You may call me Hasegawa-sensei.”
The students in the class remained silent. Maybe due to the sudden announcement, they were surprised by the change of the teacher.
Then suddenly, a female student with braided glasses stood up and said sternly.
“Nice to meet you, Hasegawa-sensei. We look forward to your lessons. My name is Mio Suzuki, the class representative.”
“Nice to meet you too, Suzuki-san.”
After the brief introduction, I proceeded with the roll call. It was my first day being their homeroom teacher, so I must get to know each of them first.
Aside from their homeroom class, it looked like Kashiwagi-sensei was also in charge of the Mathematics class – meaning it was my duty now.
Thankfully, math was my strong suit, so that I could remember most of the Trigonometric formulas for the lesson today.
*Ding-dong Ding-dong*
The bell rang, and it was now lunchtime.
“Okay. That’s all for the lesson today. Be sure to do your homework.”
I closed the math textbook and exited the classroom.
Since I bought a lunch box from a convenience store before going to school, I headed for the rooftop.
Although I wanted to eat in the faculty room, I was scared that Todo-san would attack me again, making Goto-san angrier than she was right now.
Plus, I was hoping to see Watanabe-san on the rooftop again. I needed to hear some answers to my confusion.
With my lunchbox in tow, I hurriedly walked through the stairs and unlocked the door of the school rooftop.
But I didn’t see anyone – not even Watanabe-san, which I was expecting to be here.
“Sigh… Yeah, right. What was I even expecting.”
Feeling despondent, I sat on the bench, the same spot we were sitting on when I calmed down Watanabe-san.
I took out the letter that fell off early this morning.
“Ha~a… I thought Airi and Watanabe were two different people. Was I wrong? If they aren’t the same, then what’s with this letter? But clearly, this looks like a love letter. It would be rude to open it up, but…”
I breathed a sigh of exasperation and remembered what happened this morning.
“Was Airi lying when she told me she was attending Fujimigaoka? But based on her looks, she was clearly not lying. If so, then the possible options right now were…”
I should break down into smaller bits the mystery surrounding Airi / Watanabe.
1. Airi and Watanabe are the same people with split personalities.
2. Airi and Watanabe are two different people.
Airi is a good actress and playing me for a fool.
The first choice that Airi / Watanabe is only one person does make sense. Because why would Watanabe have Airi’s letter if they are not the same person?
Maybe after leaving my apartment this morning, Airi-san suddenly switched back to Watanabe-san? That would also explain why Watanabe-san was sweating when she saw me this morning. She doesn’t want me to find out that she has a personality disorder.
Although it’s weak based on evidence, the second option was still possible. I can’t deny that Airi and Watanabe were two different people. They say that three people in the world look exactly like you. Maybe Watanabe was a doppelganger of Airi or vice-versa.
Or lastly, Airi was an excellent actress and played me for a fool. With all the teasing she’s been doing to me, it’s highly possible too. Like she’ll just come out and laugh it off, saying, “Fu-fu-fu-fu… I’m Watanabe-san all along and not Airi! You’ve fallen for my trap!”
“First off, should I truly care about all of this? Maybe I’m just wasting my time.”
I had given up. Whichever option it is, I don’t care anymore.
Feeling thirsty, I took a sip at my bottled tea drink.
“Woah! This drink is good!” I shouted as if to clear away my thoughts.
“Yeah, I shouldn’t care! It’s not like there’s something for me to gain or lose if I found out!”
With my mind clearing a bit, I started eating my lunch box.
“Thank you for the meal!”
Four portions of fat sushi rolls stuffed with salmon and shrimp neatly wrapped were what I bought for the lunch box. I picked up a piece and plugged it into my mouth.
“Not bad for a ready-made bento. Although, Airi’s cooking was tastier.”
Ugh, I shouldn’t think like that. I feel that I have become more dependent on Airi since she barged in. This kind of thing was not good. I have to set the boundaries later.
Upon finishing the last piece and chugging down my bottled tea drink, I put out the love letter again.
I stared hard at it for a moment and made my decision.
“Forgive me!”
I carefully opened up the seal – as not to damage the envelope. Then I read out the contents.
Dear Shimizu-san,
I’m sorry that this might be sudden. I have a very important thing that I want to say to you. Please meet me at Yoyogi Park near the ice cream stand at 5 pm. I will be waiting for your arrival. Thank you.
– Daisuke Hayate
“This is 100% a confession!” I screamed after reading the letter.
With her beautiful looks and stylish figure, there’s no doubt that Airi-san would be popular with guys. Also, on top of that, her godly cooking skills and bright personality. If there was a ranking for “most wanted girlfriend,” she’ll surely be at the top.
But why does it feel like my heart aches?
*Baam*
I was about to fold and sheathe the letter back to the envelope when suddenly, the rooftop door opened with a slam.
“W-W-What do YOU think you’re doing reading another person’s letter!!!”
The girl who came out of the door was the one I had been looking for since earlier- Yuki Watanabe.
