Chapter 11: Kujo Quietly Hunts Down
“You’re so easy to read. It’s written all over your face that you’re in a pinch.”
Kujo’s expression was losing its composure.
In this state, Kujo wasn’t willing to talk about the situation, but if she tried to cover it up, it felt like her life would be taken.
I, Yasuda Seiichiro, stayed over at Shizuku’s house. On top of that, we slept next to each other and did “aa-n” too. That’s all.
…There’s no way I could say that.
“I’m going to smell you for a bit.”
Sniff, sniff—she started sniffing my body.
Up close, Kujo’s unique, clear, sweet scent hit my nose. While I was feeling dizzy from it, Kujo moved away.
“Hmm.”
With her eyes closed, it seemed like she was savoring the scent.
“This smell is Nogami’s.”
“That’s just your imagination.”
“It still has a childlike scent, but it’s trying to seem more grown-up. I have a good nose, you know? I can tell.”
“It seems like it’s no use trying to cover it up.”
“The problem is, what did you do? I want you to tell me.”
I tried to step back slowly to distance myself, but Kujo took a step forward, trying to maintain the same distance.
This repeated, and before I knew it, we were already inside the gate.
“This isn’t going anywhere, so let’s go inside and talk. Whether you let me in or not depends on your judgment, Seiichiro-kun.”
“I’ll admit it.”
I couldn’t just turn her away, nor could I argue with her in the street.
“Excuse me.”
The class president sat on the sofa and demanded I sit seiza.
“This is my house, though.”
“I’m the one questioning, and you’re the one answering. That’s the situation now. Usually, I ask you for advice, but right now, that’s not the case.”
“Understood.”
I couldn’t go against Kujo, who was so tense.
What I needed to do now was to remove Kujo’s distrust. Without doing that, I couldn’t send her away or even get her to let me stop sitting seiza.
“I have one question. What did you do with Nogami-san until morning?”
“We played games, talked about old stories, ate snacks.”
“You probably did more before and after the call, right? There must be more.”
Now that I thought about it, I had done a video call with Kujo yesterday. During that time, I met with Nogami’s face.
With just three things, there was no way I could fill in the blank time.
“I listed the facts clearly. Do you really think more is necessary?”
“I actually want to know what happened next. If you don’t tell me, I’m not going anywhere. I don’t have any plans today, after all.”
Kujo’s “not going anywhere” didn’t sound like she was joking.
Kujo, who was always serious, had this scary vibe like she might actually do something like this.
“It’ll be easier if you just confess. Like I said yesterday, I want to get along with all the people who come for advice. To do that, I need to know. This is the execution of justice. Seiichiro-kun, you can relate to my thinking, right? After all, you’re the counselor.”
She was hitting a sore spot.
At this point, I was sure something in Kujo’s head had gone off-track.
Still, I couldn’t completely deny Kujo’s reasoning.
As long as I was a counselor, I instinctively wanted to accept Kujo’s logic.
Kujo must have realized that I was in a bind.
“I understand your reasoning, Kujo. I’m not just sitting here doing nothing.”
“Are you being considerate of me?”
“How you interpret it is up to you, Kujo.”
“Too bad. Your consideration? That’s basically you not wanting me to hear something. In the end, the unease in my chest just keeps growing stronger.”
That was a bad move. Even if I ignored the hurt, Kujo was seeking the truth.
“Forget the reasoning, just tell me. Please.”
“I invoke my right to remain silent. How about we make a deal instead?”
“You’re still not good enough as a negotiator, huh.”
I was starting to panic and fall into the trap. I was being made to dance in Kujo’s palm.
A counselor is supposed to always act cool. I wanted to, and I had to.
“The condition has changed.”
“Seiichiro-kun, what do you want?”
“I have information about your ex, Sas… something or other.”
“You’re quite the information broker.”
“How about we settle things with information about your ex in exchange for information about Shizuku?”
“Good topic you’re bringing up.”
Honestly, I hesitated to disclose this. After all, I was connected to another person I was advising.
But I was so desperate, I wanted to play this card. I didn’t want the bite of the fangs to turn on me.
“But I’ll turn it down.”
“Why’s that?”
“Like I said before, I don’t care about past boyfriends. What’s important now is you, Seiichiro-kun. I thought you’d understand once I’ve pinpointed your address.”
So it’s no use after all?
I guess it had to come from me. I was starting to feel resigned.
In that moment, my phone rang.
“Bad timing for a call.”
“I’ll check it.”
It was Shizuku, the one I had heard rumors about.
“Shh…”
Shizuku: Yesterday was a storm of emotions! After all, we slept together! I had a great night. The breakfast feeding in the morning was amazing—I could feel your sadistic side. Next time, I want you to be the one who sleeps with me.
My expression and voice reacted instantly.
“What’s this message? Is there something bad about it?”
“Of course not. Just some spam.”
“Then I’ll take a look.”
In the blink of an eye, my phone was gone from my hand. I felt like I had just had my lunch stolen by a hawk.
“Ah.”
“What…?”
Shizuku’s expressions were extremely exaggerated.
The message, which was misunderstood in the worst possible way, about her sleeping next to me and feeding me. Kujo froze.
She turned her head slightly and stared into my eyes.
“What does this mean?”
An awkward smile from me brought the storm closer.
